So I thought Spirit was balanced until
I went against one using Stridor with 2400 dollar headphones just right now. That was the most miserable experience I have ever had on dbd.

Combine 2400 dollar headphones on top of that yep... Takes so much skill. Considering you can play her with earbuds and do just fine.

Yes, this is an amazing experience. 11/10, would die again.
But I hope that this person did not buy such a Headset just for DBD but is also active in Comp-FPS-games or stuff like that. Such a Headset for DBD is a big waste (especially since you dont need to have such a good Headset for playing Spirit, a decent one is enough).

So you went against the best spirit in the game and didn't have fun so now it's the characters fault? Just say you don't want to have a challenge or go against anyone who's good.

How is it a challenge when there is zero counterplay at all? How would it be fun when there is absolutely nothing you can do but just be on the hook no matter what you do. On hawkins by the way the most killer sided map in the game in my opinion as I main killer myself. I like going against good killers. I don't see how it's amazingly fun to go against a killer who already has minimal counterplay, and stacking expensive headphones on top of Stridor.

I mean, everyone can spend their money on whatever they like. But I dont see any reason to buy a 2400 Dollar-Headset just for DBD. For games with an actual competitive scene and the opportunity to win a lot of money, sure, but not for DBD.
(Like, my Headset is 80 Euros and it is more than enough for DBD or any other game I usually play)

I seriously doubt anyone has done that just for playing Spirit, not even someone as dedicated to Spirit Samantha did that, at least as far as I know. They're probably just an audiophile.

Literally what I've been trying to tell people. Stridor was designed to counter Iron Will. They're like Yin and Yang, can't exist without each other.

If you want to make a case why spirit should be nerfed do not use 2k headphones as an argument my dude haha. But seriously i doubt buying 1 million dollar headphones would do much difference. If i'm not mistaken survivor injured groans have 8 meter distance you can hear without stridor, so no matter what headphones you have the distance won't increase further than that.

Spirit really doesn't need Stridor... unless survivors are running Iron Will.
It they just changed Iron Will so that it didn't reduce it to 0, maybe 25% instead, Stridor wouldn't be needed at all.

You can play spirit all you want, I agree she is fun to play, especially when you land a phase walk hit.
But after a while, it gets kind of unrewarding. The survivor hasn't got much to really do. Even if the spirit dosnt land on the survivor, she dosnt have any fatigue, therefore she can just easily catch up in a few seconds and down you.
But I'm not saying nerf this, rework this blah blah blah. Because I've said it too many times and at this point give up lol. So play spirit, I don't mind.
But if you play her, attempting to have a game end in less than 2 minutes. Then I'll help you out and kill myself on hook :) you're welcome

She does have a counterplay. Problem is, the survivor community is use to holding Shift + W and dropping a pallet, that they don't wanna use their brain to think outside the box.
Upset that Stridor makes her easier and nullifies IW? Yin cannot exist without Ysng, and they are capable of things that the other is not.

Spirit is balanced if you remove injured sounds from the whole equation. All she needs is to not hear injured people in her ability and have an indication when she is in her power, then she will be a perfect killer.

Spirit has no counterplay on virtue of survivors having no idea of what she's doing. I'd rather play a god Oni with Infectious instead of an average Spirit with Stridor and headphones.

how come? Did I miss something? Can she phase through pallets? Can she phase through windows? Do those not work against her? Or do you just not know how to run them so you have concluded she has no counterplay?

She can phase around them faster then standard 4.6 with no knowledge is she is doing that or not. Since there's no indication she is phasing. Every other strong character you know what they're doing you know when Nurse blinks, Oni rushes, Blight charges, or Huntress winding up. But Spirit you have no clue. Which leads to dull unfair gameplay where a survivor is helpless.

There is no way someone went that deep into the audiophile train just to play stridor spirit.
I don't doubt you went against someone that had those headphones with a good amp+dac and all that jazz, but there are tremendous diminishing returns at that level.
The amount of improvement been a $20 set of cans and $200 are so much bigger than comparing $200 to $2000. I'm not saying there isn't a benefit especially to the trained ear, but you're really overstating it.

She may be faster, but there's a limit to the distance she can travel. Plenty of windows and pallets do not give spirit enough time to run around them before running out of phase.
While she gives no indication she is phasing, I generally have a good idea when Spirit is phasing regardless.

Even without stridor, she is incredibly strong.

The distance she can move while phasing is limited. Base she only has 5 seconds of phasing meaning she can only cover 35m.
If you have an idea where she started to phase and when she started to phase, it's not too difficult to figure out where she has to come from and as long as you optimize distance it's hard for her to catch you from anywhere besides from behind.

There's a clear indication she's phasing, you would've noticed it by now if you had enough experience in the game. I don't feel like revealing it though just to keep bitter players that aren't willing to get better boiling under their own frustration.

Spirits have Stridor and she has some of the best add-ons? And so tell me you're at a loop she phases I guess oh she's on that side I drop the pallet oh no you're stupid she pops up on the other side and downs me. You're telling me that it's fine that a survivor has no clue where she is?

The only problematic addon combo in my experience is Mother Daughter Ring plus Amulet as the massive speed and duration increase from the addons together gives her a ton of distance to cover that's hard to account for.

I just don't believe the best counter play to a killer is hope she messes up. When the other best killers have counterplay that is far more dynamic and enjoyable

You can play around spirit without hoping she messes up. It's not easy nor do I think it means she shouldn't get adjustments either.
Regardless of addons, she still has a max distance she can move so long wall windows, shack window, safe pallets, etc are all effective at building distance between you and a phasing spirit, because she can't move through walls.
Maps do have ambient sound that can help cover your own sounds plus crouching also reduces your sound as well. Scratch marks do have a small delay before they appear so if you can confuse a spirit with other sounds you have a chance to run off before she realizes.
I just find the "spirit has no counterplay" mindset to be absolutely wrong. Yes she's hard to play against and deserves changes, but it's not like you have absolutely no options. The only killer who legitmately gave survivors no real options to play against them was Old Legion, because it didn't matter if he chased with FF until you went down or broke chase to abuse DW mechanics. Neither option lead to a survivor outplaying the Legion.

So how do I play against a spirit without her messing up? Right as her power gauge is full.

Spirit does have some counterplay. The issue is that the agreed upon counterplay isn't actually the counterplay, so 99% of the community always tries things that won't work and then shouts "OMG NO COUNTERPLAY". It's really dumb to me.
She has an idle animation reset when she starts to charge her phase and a still has to use her power to cover distance. It's not that hard to induce a 50/50 play against Spirit, and at that point, are the odds that different from a Nurse/Blight/Hag/etc? Why should survivors have 100% counterplay in an asymmetrical game?

"spirit has no counterplay" It's become a trope. Really people mean highly limited counter play. Which is correct.
Your statement of maximum phase distance is good advice to survivors struggling against spirit. End of the day you're hoping that the spirit messes up when they're in phase and reading your audio and visual queues. You have almost no (as limited as the word can exert) on a good spirit player in phase when trying tricks to throw them off.
I had an argument on reddit with some fraudalent turd discussing spirit. I basically stated your points and that it's the most limited killer in terms of counter play. The reason it needs to be changed. He claimed to have mastered mathematics and has formulas and values he plugs in to calculate on the fly as he versed spirit (of course this is not possible). I played along to show how thick he was. He then claimed he does blindfolded survivor streams to showcase how braindead survivor is and how good he is at the game. It was the most fake phoney ######### fraud ######### i've ever seen. He would pretend a couple times to walk into things but then transverse around objects fluidly like he forgot to put on the act. Then eventually realise he forgot and start faking it again. it was disgusting. Not sure if I can post the clips here or if he still has them up. My comment got upvoted a lot so he must've got some crap for it.
It really proved to length some people will go to keep spirit the way she is. To have that guaranteed iron grip over good survivor players.
My anecdote isn't a reflection of you just adding to the discussion about spirits balance and what I've seen killer mains do to pull a facade over others.

The thing is, even without stridor she’s very unfun to play against. I think it’s not acceptable to have to use iron will just to counter spirit. She needs a rework!
