What killers did you not expect to be so fun but turned out to be really fun and vice versa.
For me I always thought plague looked like a fun and super intresting killer and now she is one of my least favourites. I just feels she does everything incredibly slow, her puke is slow, charging her puke is slow, her movement while charging puke is slow, drinking from fountains slows her down and waiting for survivors to get injured is slow. Funnily enough the killer I never expected to have much fun with was blight and he now is probably my favourite killer just bouncing around is so much fun and just barely getting people with the very end of a flick is so satisfying. I wasn't even planning on buying him but I won his DLC by being the fastest shirtless felix typer in the west.

Well I started playing the game right when Pyramid Head came out so I can only answer Blight, Twins, or Trickster. I thought Blight didn’t look that fun on the PTB but I played him a few months after he was released on live and now he’s one of my favorite killers to play. Also I thought Twins and Trickster looked fun on their PTBs but holy ######### no they don’t.

Oh I started playing halloween night 2020 so this wasnt really as killers were being released this was moreso me watching gameplay of killers and reading their power and thinking they looked cool when they were actually really boring to play.
1 -
Oh I thought you were asking which killers that looked fun when they came out, my bad lol. Anyway my answer for Bkight still stands but as for killers I thought would be fun but weren’t, I would say Hag. Just ######### Hag, I thought she looked interesting but I find Literature class less boring than her.

Trapper. I always thought Trapper was incredibly boring, but out of nowhere he's become one of my favorite killers to play.
As for the vice-versa, I suppose Billy. I used to find Billy incredibly fun, but now I prefer Oni in every way,

I thought that Pyramid Head would be tremendous based on my familiarity with him from Silent Hill but his powers and abilities just feel awkward to me. He was my first realization that all killers have roughly the same speed and weapon length. I was picturing a somewhat slow killer who could nonetheless devastate you with a single hit from a good eight feet away at any time.
Conversely I didn't think that Legion would be anything noteworthy but I actually enjoy using him.

Twins are the most underrated killer in the game right now. I stayed away from them for a while because of the reputation they had. But after giving them a try, I instantly became hooked.
Can't really think of a vice versa.

Not fun? Twin and Slinger. Slinger especially. I saw the design and heard the name and thought "oh my god thats so dumb I can't wait". Then I played him and he's very simple and shallow. ALso Pyramid for similar reasons to Slinger. Very unimaginitive power.
Twins have a hilarious concept (thats literally ripped 1 to 1 from an episode of X files) but my god, what an awful power design.
Killers I didn't expect to enjoy.. probably Doctor. I used to think he was really clunky but his rework streamlined his modes and now he's one of my favorite. Plague too. I don't play her often but enjoy her.

Trickster is really fun. His knives are sometimes unwieldy, but when you get the hang of them he can make plays that rival Huntress, Nurse and Spirit. He has much less counterplay and many more options than people think.
Hillbilly. He seems incredibly fun with all his mobility and one shot potential. But his chainsaw is unreliable and sometimes buggy. When Billy doesn’t have an option to use his saw, he’s just a standard M1 Killer.

Twins. I always said that Victor is a worse Demo and Charlotte is just an M1 Killer, which they are.
But multitasking between them 2, taking weird pathing on an oblivious Survivor with Victor on them. Quite fun I must say.

Honestly, Deathslinger. So cliche of a choice, but he is actually no fun to play against. Miserable games every time I queue into one. And playing him for adept wasn't fun at all, was so glad it was easy.

Surprisingly fun? I thought Trapper would be pretty terrible and frustrating, but there's nothing like that rush of dopamine when that survivor you're chasing starts heading just where you want them to. And oh, the sound of that trap snapping shut. Same deal as Hag, to an extent - I thought I'd hate playing a 110% and that she'd be ruinously slow, but god are these jumpscares fun, and she never has to play a long catch-up game as a result.
Surprisingly not fun: I purchased Pyramid Head along with Plague when I bought the game, liking Plague's design a lot but thinking Pyramid Head looked like a pretty straightforward and strong killer and would be a nice introduction to the game. Not so. He feels like driving a very old, very unresponsive truck, aiming his power is way more difficult than it looks, and I can't get anyone to go through his trails.

Are the Twins really just like a character from X Files? I always just assumed Basket Case.
1 -
I dont think he can rival any of those killers tbh and I have played a decent amount of him.
1 -
I thought spirit was going to be hell but I love going against her.
1 -
I thought Hag looked cool when I first started playing. Then I played as and against her and she is now officially at the top of both my least favourite and most brain-dead killer lists. Same exact story with The Twins, cool concept but every single aspect of their execution is utterly flawed.
For the opposite, I didn't like the look of Deathslinger on release, but he grew on me. Now I don't hate playing him, he's pretty fun to play from time to time if I just wanna shoot things.

There's a character in the episode "humbug" that has a little brother that looks like a small child stuck in his chest. It can detach himself and goes on killing rampages and makes weird noises. It's closer to the Twin than Basket Case is.

Interesting, thanks for that info. I'm curious to check it out.

Its a great show. The whole series is on Disney+ right now. I've been binge watching it recently. First watched in on putlocker lol so theres tons of episodes I missed because of dmcas.
2 -
I missed it during its initial run (don't know how, I'm a total paranormal / crypto type of guy) but then started going through them from episode 1 back in about 2008 or so. I liked it when it was "monster of the week" but then started getting bored with the alien conspiracy stuff. I need to give it another chance I think.
1 -
Yeah, as the series goes on the main plot becomes more and more muddled and less interesting. The show was always best with the one off episodes. I haven't watched the reboot seasons but I heard they made major retcons that massively pissed off fans so I'm holding off.
1 -
Unfun: Probably Hag. I thought it'd be cool to catch survivors off guard with traps, but setting them up is tedious.
Fun: Trickster. I thought he'd be a nightmare to play but he's one of my favorite killers now.
1 -
Demogorgon. He felt weak to me for the longest time. I thought his buffs would be really underwhelming but they honestly feel really good and he has some insane addons now.
Inversely, I hate playing Pyramid Head despite him being the coolest killer thematically and visually. His counterplay is just holding W and if people just slam gens he can lose to people just running forward on big maps without a ton of slowdown perks. It feels really bad.

A killer that I didn't think I'd like that I wound up enjoying?
Legion ...and I have no idea why. I think their power was a poor concept, they were a massive detriment to the game on release (super weak yet highly exploitable), and their background was generally disappointing compared to various pre-release speculations that the community had made about them. But I guess sometimes run-fast-stabby-time is just fun.
And then on the other hand, a Killer that I thought I'd like which I now kinda hate...
Clown. Loved him when he released (I originally considered being a Clown main when I first started playing DbD). But then I got kinda bored of his basic and (at least at the time) ineffective power. These days I barely touch Clown because I encounter a higher-than-normal amount of game-crashing problems when playing as him.

Are they fun even after the nerf?
1 -
probably demo, i used to really hate playing demo but ever since i got better with him hes been one of my go to killers to play
1 -
I thought Nurse was gonna be super boring. Tense to play against, boring to watch, but fun to play as. Trickster feels super boring to play, mostly because you need a bad team to win with him, and he's also annoying to play against.
1 -
When I first started playing nurse I thought she'd be really hard and stressful, but she's now my favorite killer and I usually have a lot of fun with her. And I thought plague would be fun but I was painfully wrong.
1 -
Didn't really care for Oni until i tried him.
Failed miserably btw, but it was still very fun.
Had high expectations with Nurse, but she annoys me all around, i'll never play her seriously again.
1 -
The nerf didn't kill them but it did make them more irritating to play for no good reason. The five second cooldown is definitely noticeable.
Still, the Twins are relatively fun despite the nerf. Victor's chase potential is still the same.
I recommend giving them a go to find out if you like them. Hopefully, the devs realize the nerf was wrong and reverse it.
1 -
Probably clown, i through he was just a bad and boring killer, he's now my second main (after pig of course) i just have fun with him, and i don't know why.
For viceversa, i think Billy, i through that he would be fun but sadly, he was more frustrating then anything, probably because I'm ######### bad with him XD

Trapper, I always tought of him as a very straightforward Killer (go to loop, trap it, if they step on it when chasing you down them if they deactivate the trap you dont down them) but once I got a hang of him and started setting traps in very weird but effective places he got much much funnier.
The best trap is not the one that makes someone think "ah crap, obviusly there was a trap in that window" but the ones that make them think "who the heck puts a trap there?".

Oni. He was only level 5, but I had a daily, not expecting to do much. Very fun to play. His power really came through.
0 -
I like them but I'm so bad at aiming with Victor on console.
0 -
blight on console after his fix
he is probably the best killer on console now
0 -
For me its deathslinger which is ironic and i hate vsing him but now i find him super fun to play especially with bbq, pop, devour and undying. Really fun build thats super strong. Have yet to lose with this build.

I expected Pig and Slinger to be fun.
I expected Trapper to be boring.
I was wrong on all three accounts.

I did not expect to like Plague.
I like Plague.
I did not expect to like Twins. I don't like Twins.
Edit: OH, I thought I'd hate Oni. Turns out, I really enjoy playing him. He's a lot of fun, I just needed to learn how to use him.

Killer is harder to play on console overall.
That said, Twins seem like a decent killer on console. Try waiting for the survivor to finish their spin before pouncing.

I always expect every killer to be fun and I'm often very dissapointed. Trickter is a perfect example, 110 killer, small TR, ranged attack - sounds awesome!
Oh, wait, his entire playstyle it walking at people until they do down no matter who or where they are.

Survivor main here so I'm answering as one! 😊
I thought going against the Trapper was going to be boring. He's sort of the poster Killer for this game, everything I'd ever seen previously to playing was Trapper, and when I got into the game and saw that he was one of the oldest I thought he'd probably been left in the dust as one of the stale OGs.
I love going against a good Trapper. Every time I am in a chase and they manage to herd me into one of their traps I wish they could hear me applaud them. Or when I think I'm being so smooth and so sneaky and I step on a well-hidden trap... chef's kiss
I think since I can literally see the outcome of the Killer's pre-planning and thought process it just makes Trapper such an engaging Killer to go against.

I was very reluctant to get Twins. Power was okayish, but nothing to get me hyped. Experience against them what awful (slug parties), and I do not wanted to play like this mayself. And look-wise they are just plain ugly. But the I bought them with shards, and I'm having quite fun with them! I try not to slug so much but use them in creative / surprising ways. Playing around with the niche addons. Did not expect them to be so enjoyful.
Trickster was the opposite. I really like the design, power felt engaging, got him with shards as soon as possible. But Oh boy, this one was so awful in the first games, being looped around high structures for eternity. The embodiment of Killer Painfulness for me. It got e bit better with his small buffs and some more experience, but still ...

When I started playing Dbd none of the original killer interested me and I only played survivors over the years i've became more of a killer main now.
The Wraith : Out of the 3 original killer he's the only one i play and I love him so damn much, he's just so fun to play, I never expected him to interest me but I gave him a chance and he's just that nice chill killer i can play to relax and have some fun he has some of the nicest add-on in the game and you can build him so many different way even more after the buff they gave him I totally recommend him.
The Demogorgon : Seriously before his recent add-on change i never really wanted to try our little demodoggy but now i'm really having a blast with him, his shred is actually pretty damn good, I always hate the shack except with nurse but now with demodoggo it's like i want survivor to go shack it's just too easy, I would recommend everyone to pick him up.

I did not expect to like Nurse. I thought she was going to be very annoying to learn and play against, But I have fun playing as and going against her.
I didn't expect Hag to be so unfun to play. She looked really fun to play as at first, But when I actually tried to play her, it was one of the most frustrating experiences I ever had. I hate playing as and going against her. The same story for Plague.
