10K hours, rank 1 since the beta 2016 & can't escape.
I played this game for almost ten thousand hours, since the beta 2016, it took a while to get the hang of it but not before long I became rank 1 and stayed around red rank until around early 2020.
I am 48 years old, will be 49 this september, have a beautiful daughter who runs 2 companies and have been receiving a disability check for most my life because I have a pretty severe form of Autism, so no discussions about me wasting my life please.
To the point:
From early 2020, just after the Covid lockdowns, I have had a really hard time winning games and the last months I die practically every match before the first generator is started, it has become so bad I can't even do my challenges for the archives before the killer finds me and sacrifices me even if I try to hide in a locker.
Any ideas what is going on?

The rank reset bug knocked down a massive chunk of the playerbase down to rank 20, meaning the majority of higher rank games (Greens, Purples, Reds) are with much better players due to a smaller pool to take from
Believe me, i am speaking from experience

Are you a solo queue player?
2 -
I have been a solo que player since the game first launched. I was a rank 1-5 solo que player 2016-2019.
5 -
Send me a friend request my dbd is same as here, im on ps4 and I will run a swf with you to offer any help we can.

I've been playing solo survivor for the past 18 months & racked up a lot of hours doing so. Can't compare how it was before then but at least 80% of matches are full of absolute potato survivors in red ranks.
2 -
I can see that it is a part of the problem and explains a lot of the losses but what I can't understand is how I got so much worse in chases vs killers, especially against brand new killers, many of them just started playing the game.
I do much better vs players who played the game for some time then vs new players for some reason.
Shouldn't experienced players do better than new players?
2 -
Often a skill gap between Red Killer / Red Survivor.
If you've committed to Killer enough to play at Red Rank, you are good. You know how to play Killer.
Survivors on the other hand...
Pips are too easy and, they don't prioritize Chase. Being a good Survivor anymore means you need to be good in chase, looping.
The game speed has boiled down so fast that, if your team can't effectively loop the Killer, it's GG. At Red rank anyway.
6 -
You are better vs more experience because you know what to expect. You can somewhat predict whats gonna happen. Newer players arent predictable at all. Their pathing is all sorts of cracked. That might just be the issue here.
3 -
I find it the other way around. I think killer is easier to pip and harder to depip than survivor.
I mainly play solo survivor though. I share a similar feeling to that of the OP, though I do get out sometimes. Honestly though, solo is fun, but there are some terrible players that just quit too often. I wish they would limit Kobe attempts to 3 in one day. So many players get caught first and immediately go into quit mode.
People talk about how SWF isn't an advantage. Take all the communication out completely and it's still an advantage. I know when I play SWF people are just giving up immediately or sandbagging the rest of the game. I know my SWF will at least get on gens.
1 -
Maybe I just transitioned into becoming a better killer than survivor, I am still rank 1 killer tho.
0 -
No, that happens to me all the time. Against experienced players I can juke and mindgame, but give me a rank 16 Trapper who doesn't double back or mindgame at all and I'm lost.
1 -
A video might help narrowing down the problem.
In general, if you do worse against newer players, it's because you're thinking one level too deep. Newer players tend to hold W more than doubling back, whether killers or survivors. So, just take them for a ride as you run tiles on the optimal path as they simply follow.
1 -
So how does that make a new killer able to kill 4 survivors, all with over 5000 hours worth of playtime each, before the first generator is started?
0 -
It sounds like a witch has cursed you. The only way to break the curse is to switch from using keyboard and mouse to a controller. Witches can't use their powers on a PC player who uses a controller. Do this and the curse will be broken before the next new moon, or rank reset, whichever comes first.
3 -
That is such a weird comment considering I am very deep in to black magic.
2 -
Seems exactly the same to me. If it’s actually you dying that fast and not your teammates then you must be doing something different.
3 -
I have even tried hiding in a locker at the beginning of the game but the killer just walks up to me from the other part of the map and grabs me, despite being sure not to leave scratch marks or make noises.

So you know that if there is no natural cause or change that you are aware of, so maybe a supernatural one is possible. Be careful how deep you go!
0 -
Now when you say it, I have been meeting lots of players with names like "hell", "satan", "dark", "666" and names like that lately.
No joke.
1 -
I find that oftentimes, I will go down against newer killers because I expect them to mindgame a lot of the tiles that necessitate it, so when you double back around an LT wall, you just walk into them because they were just holding W and vaulting the window. You might have a problem where you're big braining strategy against someone who isn't using any, and this will cause you to fail.

I'm at 6,523 hours (1,400 on Steam; the rest on Xbox), and I have yet to reach Rank 1 as survivor (I only solo queue). I think the closest I got was Rank 4, once.
Buff solo... 😫
1 -
I have about 8000 hours on Steam, the rest on Stadia, Microsoft store app & DBD mobile.

That controller thing worked btw. And after force closing the Steam big picture it hasn't occured again. Maybe the witch works via the Steam overlay.
I also disabled the Steam overlay and disabled sharing of my ip via p2p networking on the same settings tab.
Maybe somebody have been flooding me.

So if you have attracted something paranormal, the beginning events seem like nuisances or pranks, but can eventually escalate to larger things. You should pay close attention to your health and don't hesitate to seek medical help for any changes in behavior such as depression or increased anxiety. Also, I am not an expert, just someone who reads odd books from time to time.

Solo queue is incredibly difficult atm. I dropped from Rank 2-3 to Rank 6-7 by camping/tunneling Killers in the last week alone. It seems SWF and Killers keep getting buffed so the two respective groups are balanced, but Solo survivors are never considered in anything.
If a Killer finds you in a locker and you've left no scratchmarks, no disrespect intended, but it's nothing supernatural. The Killer most likely heard the squeak of the locker doors. If it is just uncanny that they are finding you, I'd consider it an aura reading hack rather than a witch, yanno?
1 -
It could just be that both newer killers are odd and unpredictable in chase, and that newer killers you face and escape against probably aren't going to be putting out great pressure, and didn't chase you all game.
At least, that's an issue I've noticed recently in pipping- a lot of games where you will blank/de-pip from either getting chased all game or not ever seeing the killer.
Ranks are funky tho, I wouldn't trust 'em.

This is true. I'm pretty decent at survivor, but if I go against a newer player I end up getting demolished sometimes, because they have the absolute weirdest pathing's ever. My killer gameplay for when I play killer falls into extremely advanced mindgames, and newer players don't do that either. They are pretty clueless, and that's what gets me.

Huh. I wonder if something changed in the game around that time (that's about when I started playing so idk what). If you're a data person I would suggest you start keeping a spreadsheet with things like what killer you are playing against, how many gens get done, what perks you are using, etc. and see if there is any correlation.
1 -
I did and the only weird thing that came up, was that I only met a small number of players every match, less than 100 which is weird considering there are often 50 thousand players online at any time.
Before this it was totally random and I almost never met the same players twice.
Another weird thing was that almost all of them had the mangeled unicorn and the black crow charm sometimes the claudette voodo doll too, on the hook.

Sounds like a solo queue problem, this is from someone who plays solo queue a lot and sometimes plays in a 2 man group.
Most survivors since the rank reset change aren't good, yeah sometimes you get good players but most of the time you are going to get red rank bots who last 10 seconds in a chase and can't hold m1 on a gen.
I suggest getting a teammate at least a friend who can help you out, I'm lucky my brother plays dbd sometimes and trust me it is great having 1 other player doing stuff.
We both are killer mains but have been playing survivor more because of how easy killer is these days.
You have almost 4 times of hours as me, I have 3k hours adding both platforms I've been playing dbd, my brother has 1.5k.

It's a bit late for warnings, people around me has been getting sick and dying for several years now and lots of glitches appear all the time, it's like something is about to break through in to this world from another world.
The cracks are beginning to show.

Thank you oh mighty wizard for your advice about witches & controllers, the spell is broken and I will sacriice 6 ddr2 ram's in your honor the next full moon.

Iv been rank 1 pretty much since the games release and this is for both sides. Basically its random if you escape now, you can do the same chases, gems etc. But your team has to be doing things, basically you can have a trash team that cabt do chases and refuse to di gens (more common than ever now) or you are lucky and have other survivors that do generators. I personally only focus on my chase and ignore if I escape or die, if I do a 4min chase and bo gen gets done its clearly not on me. When they fix ranking this will fix it, but Escaping is over rated

Having a lot of supernatural events now, maps completely without pallets and players with names like "antichrist" and "snakes".
Nobody starts a single generator any match.
It would be really exciting to know what is going on.
Look, not a single pallet in sight.

I just played a game as killer, 3 generators was started in the first 90 seconds of the game.
That has not happened to me as survivor in over 18 months.

Solo q only needs better matchmaking, try to gather three competent people that play dbd, don't talk just team with them, you will see how much easier it's, even tho you aren't in a proper swf (technically you're in a swf, but you aren't going to talk or anything) the game will either be a close win/lost, or a stomp for the survivor
0 -
Played one more game as killer, 2 of the survivors couldn't be hurt by my plauge, it worked fine on the other 2 though.
0 -
My point is that this does not occur occasionally, it happens every single match.
In 50 matches over one day i can have 5 fun and fair matches if I am lucky that day the rest are weird in all sorts of ways.
It didn't use to be like this before covid.

I had normal games since I posted the image, maybe it's some kind of group who is doing this to me and are scared of getting caught.
Maybe somebody took control of both my computer and the game server.
That would explain a lot.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter how experienced you are at survivor. Doesn't matter if you do gens, hook save and heal everyone, and loop the killer for 10 minutes, because winning as survivor depends on the skill of the team, not the individual. If your teammates don't do gens, don't save, and can't last in a chase for longer than 13 seconds, you're probably gonna lose most of the time.

The same map had pallets this time. Everybody still died before the first generator was started though.

Why does the killer tunnel me every game and after he sacrificed me he stops playing and let the others escape?
What is going on?
Is behaviour interactive together with bombardier doing some kind of experiment on me?

U play solo Q, don´t u?. You can check my stats for my lsat 46 games on solo q.

Glad it’s not only me! You can’t mention the huge increase in camping and tunneling here tho cuz apparently it doesn’t exist! 🙄

This 100%. I die more to rank 15s than rank 1s.

Today I met a 14 hour killer who had perks that took me 3000 hours to get.
He must be such a good player to be able to earn 100 million bloodpoints per match.
There are some true skills out there.
0 -
How can they hear a squeak from the other side of the map?
A new perk?
I walk in to the locker at the beginning of the game and after 15 seconds they walk straight up to me from the other side of the map and pick me up from the locker.
I can see while they walk up, that they looked nowhere else.
It happens all the time!
All killers must have really good gaming chairs.
