You Know Why Plague Is The Least Picked?
Because her power actively works against itself! She's better off as a lame M1 Killer.
She either has to continue chasing ONE Survivor, vomiting on them as much as possible (nearly impossible when there are millions of projectile-breaking objects everywhere) so they hit Broken, then hit them.
(Which can be done QUICKER by just hitting them twice.)
So she has to commit to chases longer than normal, which makes ZERO damn sense in the 5 minute meta.
Or she spreads the love, maybe hits a few people...and they Cleanse, which ALSO is a free heal. Yep! Her power allows them to heal without a medkit or teammate.
So her power makes it harder for her to down Survivors. Bravo! What balance!
Or Survivors never cleanse, and she has to make use of one (maybe two) fountains for her Corrupt Purge.
(Bravo for whatever person felt Survivors get to control her power, btw. That was not a biased decision at all.)
How do we fix her? Well, there are a few ways. I'm not suggesting ALL of them at once.
- Cleansing no longer heals Survivors unless the damage-state was explicitly from becoming Broken. Meaning it no longer heals a damage state from being attacked by her.
- Give her add-ons that makes her puke affect generators. IE: Puked gens regress when not being worked on, for the duration the puke exists on the gen. Or puked gens repair slower until the puke clears.
- If Survivors never cleanse, a fountain will always go Corrupt if none exist. Why did you not do this? You did the incredibly lame opposite thing, where fountains clear & force Corrupt Purge on her if she never takes one. Because the Plague controlling her power is apparently FORBIDDEN! Only Survivors get to pick the where & when of her power!
Just please fix her. Plague is utter trash at the moment:
Her power is controlled by Survivors (Bravo, when she's the power role). Then controlled by the game, THEN controlled by her.
It takes too long to infect people.
And her power actively works against itself.
I get it; you invented her in a time where you felt every Killer power needed a built-in counter, because you were scared to anger the cash cows that are Survivor mains. But it's been long enough. Please fix her.

I main plague and she is not trash at all tbh. The only thing I would want done is to have her ultra rare add on that gives you corrupt purge when a gen is completed reworked because it really isn’t that great.

Thank you for speaking out against
T HE CONSPIRACY
brave soul, it's about time someone did.

The only issues with plague really are desync and survivors having too much say over her power.
I would prefer she be able to pull her power from her fountains where ever she is, like Freddy’s teleport except she’d teleport her power to herself.
desync issues being the other.
to cleanse or not should be up to the survivors but this whole, I’ll cleanse far away from the gens thing on top of being able to cleanse at the same time to force power us able and cleanse the fountains is a bit much

Pretty sure Twins has taken that spot now.

Just watch otz's plague streak. That will show you how "trash" she is
4 -
Otz can 50 win as any Killer. High-level skill players is not indicative of how the other 99% of people play. Or even can play.

I like Plague quite a bit. Never played her yet but she's really fun to go against. I love the sound of the rushing water fountains, I can never stop laughing at the comically exaggerated survivor barf sounds, I love the fact that I often get thrown in the Red Forest (which I adore) when playing against her, etc.
I welcome more Plague matches, as long as it's not 15 times in a row like it was a week or so back lol.

Yes and people have beaten dark souls blind folded.
Does that make dark souls an easy game?

I'd quite like the change where cleansing doesn't heal a survivor unless they became injured via sickness damage, but other than that and her dubious hitboxes, and the fact that all of her fountains get wiped when they fill instead of just one/a few of them, I'm very happy where she's at. She also has a pretty good spread of addons and while I'd like the addons you're suggesting, I also think they're on the powerful side, especially the regression.
To me, the best attribute of Vile Purge is that you can tag environmental objects. Primarily this is generators, though you can puke on pallets/windows in areas with difficult LOS (mainly shack and high wall loops.) What you get is either herding survivors away from the object (moving them to more favorable loops, making them wait on a regressing generator, or making them waste time looking for a clean generator) or a combination of time bomb and information. That little touch of infection from a thrown pallet isn't going to get you a damage state in chase unless you vom on them or you chase them for way longer than you should, but it will make them loud and easier to locate. Which is overall alright. But infection from starting up a random gen you hit? Way better. They'll be injured or well on their way by the time that's relevant to you, or you can see the flash of yellow in the HUD, go 'that person touched one of my gens', and backtrack to harass them. You can also do this with your hexes, though the ambiguity of what was touched makes it harder to react if you're also tagging gens.
But regardless. Either they cleanse before they encounter you, and you get a free fountain with very little effort or loss involved, or you come across random noisy injured survivors for quick downs.
You're also discounting the use of Vile Purging a healthy survivor in chase. No, you don't do this every time, or often (unless you brought emetics.) But if you do it against survivors that are running out in the open, or running towards a strong loop in a predictable line, Vile Purge can be more effective than two M1s because sickness damage doesn't grant a speed boost, so you can M2 straight into M1 with no catch-up involved. And for survivors that are successfully running you in low/windowed loops, Vile Purge can be nice to both passively and actively chip at their first health state so that when you do catch them, they go down from it. It also gives you a free infection on whoever unhooks them, which is nice.

Let’s not forget the fact that you can send 5 zigzag streams of puke across the survivor’s back and yet they somehow avoid getting infected! Seems that only straight, directed streams of puke count - which can be mighty hard to pull off.
7 -
Agree that cleansing shouldn't heal a non-broken survivor and that survivor shouldn't be punished by survivors over-cleansing (like she either needs the bar to be replaced with tokens that allow her to use corrupt purge BLANK number of times or that corrupt last a solid 3-4 minutes before expiring instead of being the same duration as normal).
Everything else I disagree with, if you keep your purge on a survivor, it'll only take around a bar to break them, and the second hit is almost always guaranteed. Letting survivors only get a bit sick is rewarding for the little skill it takes as they'll eventually be broken no matter what.

I agree. She is my main, and was much moreso before dedicated servers, but the absolute biggest problem she has now is that what feels like 90% of the time your vomit just passes through people, they cough, but they don't get infected.
So you vomit on someone, and where you'd normally leave them to finish getting sick while you patrol the map, they are now at a very safe tile and uninfected.

plague is probably least picked because she's really hard to get into, but a good plague wrecks shop.
she's like if spirit had a difficulty curve. she's like if nurse could be looped. she is so strong, but she's also hard af to play, so people who try to get into her just get beat and then play something easier.
nothing to do with how strong she is, given she's super strong.

Are you seriously complaining about survivors cleansing? I know Plague is hard, but come on.
Plague is the least picked because she's insanely ######### difficult in every way. She might be the hardest killer in the game. She's certainly much harder than Nurse, the girl you spend a couple hours failing with then suddenly 4k every trial.
Plague requires precise mechanical skill, amazing power knowledge and practice, very good map knowledge, amazing m1 skills, the ability to make snap decisions and formulate complex plans based on information you glimpsed from the corner of your eye, and of course, not playing like a saint.
6 -
Sounds like people are sick of the Plague.
4 -
They need to fix phantom hits with her puke. It happens all the time on console. The survivor literally waves their hands around and makes noises, but somehow the game says they didn't get hit by any of it, even when it went right through them.
8 -
"survivors control her power"
Yeah they can either decide to be a one shot with no way of hiding all game or give you the nuttiest ranged ability in dbd, which you can still use once regardless of their input
I'm fine with either
4 -
I kinda wish her ability looked more magical instead of vomit. For me she was extremely disgusting to play (I know that made me sound so picky) but, her lore made me want to play as her so badly

Not Trickster or Myers.
Plus, he's never gotten a 100 win streak as any other killer.

Yeah, it's ridiculous how they decided to feature an extremely flawed killer for this chapter without even giving her any buffs or slight changes to compensate for her current state. To quote an earlier comment I made on this issue:
1.) Improve her hitboxes for the puke (regular and corrupt) so that it don't phase through people without any effect anymore. Increasing the speed of her projectiles would be very helpful, too.
2.) Enable her to suck dry fountains from any distance, combine that with a channel time which grows in duration the further away the selected fountain is. If she stands in front of the fountain, make drinking almost instant. The addons which make drinking faster should affect her channel time instead.
3.) Give sick survivors a debuff to their repairspeed, anything that can help at slowing down the game is direly needed on Plague.
4.) Give her addons which alter the handicaps sick survivors receive - those can include effects like oblivious, blindness, broken and many more. Removing the heal from fountains should be possible, too. In return Plague loses the ability to suck dry fountains from distance.
Feel free to stack any of these ideas with each other.

The only thing that frustrates me is when survivor is screaming from the puke but stays uninfected
0 -
She doesn't actually puke in streams. Her power is more like Tricksters, in that it's several projectiles thrown in a rough stream. So it's entirely possible for survivors to dodge in between in the individual projectiles.

To me, it seemed easier to begin learning dbd as a survivor, and so I did. By the time I reached level 50 with Meg and had played Feng and Nea a bit, I was so sick of other survivors, that I knew Plague would be my first unlocked killer. I like her look. I like her back-story, and there is nothing better after a day of grinding solo survivor than the catharsis and glee of vomiting on survivors. That said, I agree whole-heartedly that she deserves some attention. In addition to the many good points already made, the speed of vile and corrupt purge is ridiculous at any distance other than right on a survivor's heels. Compared to Huntress, Deathslinger, and Trickster, the amount of time it takes for vile and corrupt purge to reach a survivor at any distance would allow someone to go to the drugstore, buy anti-nausea medication, return and slip it into a pool of devotion, and Clown's and Doc's weapon and power have areas-of-effect that the purge does not remotely possess. As for purge being comparable to Trickster's daggers, I would very much like to learn the source of that description, because it looks to me like a sustained torrent of bile, and when it hits what's directly on the right and left of a survivor running in a straight line, without getting so much as a drop on his/her back, MY impression is that it's a problem of mechanics.
1 -
I like 2 and 3, but idea 1 is a bit of an issue: if a survivor cleanses, the Plague is given an audio notification and a fountain turns white. This gives the cleansed survivor's location away and leaves them vulnerable. The Plague will likely locate them before they could heal. That could be a real pain.

Plague is just fine as she is.
Her mechanic has flaws, mostly her hitboxes, yes. But on its own it is an interesting change to the gameplay as you have to make your choice: Cleanse and give her the power-up or stay sick and be a one-shot. A loose-loose for any survivor.
Your only choice is to cleanse in a way that Plague has to go to an uninteresting area, so that she can not use her power near you. This however slows you down and takes time away from your team which is equal to a slowdown.
Now if Plague just plays Thanatophobia (Nurse, its free) you have an even worse choice: Slow-down or Slow-down?
Also Plague rewards skillful play: Can you aim your Infection right? Can you spread it through all survivors to force them to make a bad choice?
She is an interesting killer to face and a powerful killer when you can play her. I lost many times to a good Plague and aside from wanky hitboxes on both sides it was always a good match.
A debuff for injured Survivors would be a general idea. Currently most descent survivors are far to comfortable to stay injured against most killers (Ghosty, Meyers and other stealthy things aside) as their most powerful perk (Dead Hard) is up or they can just Sprintburst away. It is actualy more often a wast of time to first heal and then do the Gen and in most cases the better choice to finish that Gen and then maybe heal up befor the next one.

really? i find her really easy to play. I just kinda wish her cooldown-post puking wasn't there. maybe they want to really buff her, they could make the action of charging her puke not have any movement speed penaltiy and allow her red puke to double hit survivors in single stream. I think those would be way more impactful than OP suggestions.
1 -
The fact that you think that wouldn't completely break her kind of shows how hard she really is.
1 -
i don't think she needs buffs, i think she's already really strong. no clue why people think a ranged attacking killer is weak. many killers could only dream to have access to ranged attack.
0 -
Didn't Scott Jund get a 32 4k streak on old speed limiter leatherface? Plague isn't trash but saying "Just watch someones win streak" doesn't really mean much.
2 -
Sounds like you're not using her to her full potential tbh.
1 -
I have to say while i don't think plague is weak i LOVE the idea some people have suggested of making her pools map wide. Because there's this "funny" little situation where survivors can rotate between tapping a gen and running to the dark side of NARNIA to cleanse and now you're screwed. They're healthy, it'll take either two M1s or a purge + M1 out in the open, and then you're playing a loosing game of puke'a'mole.
Having either ALL pools light up red when and a charge counter on your power, or chaneling cross map are great ideas imo.

Amen, but why not give them both love?

She has one of the strongest powers in the game, what have you been smoking sir?
0 -
He has 100 kills in a row as plague...

I actively avoid those on the bloodweb because it counters her. She's not the only killer with addons that are straight nerfs to her, either.
