So is there a counter to Demogorgons shread?
I feel like there is nothing I can do against Demogorgon in a chase. All he does is activate shread constantly to create a lose lose scenario.
He like the new pyramid head with the survivors having nothing to do against him. With his shread nearly every window and pallets is just a free hit on him. I don't want to seem like I'm a complaining survivor main but I generally don't know what to do against.
Is there a meaningful counter to his shread or is he now just another pyramid head with another lose lose scenario?

I knew this day would come.

Trick him into thinking you're going one way but switch, Dead hard out of his shred area, Drop a pallet as soon as possible.

Fakes. Make him think you'll do something and do the opposite.

Thank you for the tips and helping. I hope I don't come off as a whiny survivor main that don't want to adapt and get better. I genuinely do.

He can only Shred in a straight line. Think of it kind of like Huntress hatchets: it has a noisy tell and range, but can be dodged because of its trajectory.
If he catches you in the open you’ll either get hit with Shred or zoned into losing distance, but that’s because you were in the open. If you’re at a tile, just try not to be too predictable with your pathing.
It also helps to play the killer in question and learn their timings and which loops they can and can’t hit you at.

Try to avoid the shack is possible I’m starting to main the demodoggo and seriously unless you’re really really good at faking the shack is Demo territory, I always get a hit, it’s just not as safe as the other killer.
Everyone else said it, but fake going right and turn at the last moment but don’t do it too often otherwise the demodoggo player will learn your partner, kinda like you would do vs a nurse.
Dropping a pallet way early kinda like you would on doc will give you a little bit more time.
Also fun thing I didn’t not know without playing him is that if you are close to a portal he can Shred and know that you are next to that portal.
T and L wall would be your friend tbh if you are decent at running those tile.

You juke to make him miss

Do what you do to counter PH. Faking out last second without making it obvious or even dropping pallets earlier than normal are good ways to deal with Shred.
Always hug collision very tightly and if you hear the Shred immediately move the other direction. In some cases, they may just use it to zone you, so at that point it's a matter of understanding how that player in particular plays and when to juke. Taking advantage of round/short loops is in your best interest since he can't effectively Shred at them.

You want to make pallets a 50/50 for the Demo. I usually throw the first one when he has his face open to condition him to think I'll always do that. So then the next pallet he'll open his face and stop running while he waits for you to throw the pallet, which you just run through and start looping around.

Looks like Scott was right.

People are finally starting to realize just how powerful Demogorgon is, heeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllll yeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Just do a backflip and knock him out. Works every time

I think the best way of learning how to play against Demo is actually playing them yourself, it's taught me a lot on how survivors play around my use of zoning via faking shreds and how to mindgame to dodge shreds. Learning Demo has actually helped me learn how to play against them.

Just don't attend the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things, and you'll be golden.

Don't bring items do you can trick him a big easier.

You can try your best to dodge it since unlike PH he suffers a decently long cooldown for missing.
Shack is terrible against a good demo so try using rock loops or more circular structures to force him to m1

*begins sweating* oh no people are learning that demo is activated

Dead hard, a majority of things can be countered by DH
1 -
So many things....except Monstrous shrine but I am 100% positive that perk counters itself
2 -
Well if you dead hard directly to the killer it'll still land a hit even during the animation, or Huntress's or Slingers shots
1 -
And thats why you don't dead hard to dodge a bullet or hatchet, you dead hard to see if Huntress's arms will down you anyways...thats why you still get downed by a hatchet

Unlike Pyramid Head
Demo's Shred doesn't go trough walls & fakes are the best way to avoid it.
If u are at shack and u started the vaulting animation, the Demo has to guess right cause trying to react to it will make him miss and take a bite out of the shack window.
You can also judge the demo's skill. If he goes for fakes most of the time, you'll know next time. If he wildly goes for shreds then you'll know what to expect.

Nearly all the patterns of looping demo are exactly the same as for huntress.

You pray hitboxes aren't f**** and don't vault in front of him fake it til you make it or die I guess

Like dodging a hatchet :) remember a lot of demos dont run rat liver anymore so you are slightly faster than them.

An item disappears when a survivor initiates a vault

As if anyone will pay attention to that. That's very rare.

You're never meant to outplay a killer the entire match, the game is not designed around that. So regardless of the killer, at one point you will be downed.
The goal is to use the limitations of their abilities against them. Killers do not have 3rd person view, so they can only see things that are in the cone ahead of them. Breaking line of sight alone helps you face most killers.
Second thing is that against some killers, pre-dropping pallets is either neccesary or will really help your case unless there is a way to avoid damage OR if there is a reason for you to not drop it(aka, dropping a pallet while recieving a hit). Killers where predropping a pallet can be useful, if not neccesary to extend chases long enough for generators to pop: Demogorgon, Doctor, Bubba, Billy, Hag(it's better to drop a pallet than to leave it up while Hag places a trap, making it deadly for the next survivor if it's still up, seeing a dropped pallet against a hag is often a sign that it has been trapped and it's dangerous), Clown, Spirit, Oni(an oni that cant get his first hit is an oni that doesnt have a power), Deathslinger and Blight. While running from pallet to pallet. Ofcourse try skipping as many pallets as possible, but dropping a pallet to prevent a hit is going to give those killers an extremely hard time.
Third thing that you can do, is fake. Huntress, Demo, Billy, PH and Doctor are all slowed down for a (tiny) amount of time while they use their power. If you go for the window, as they expect you to do, they get a hit. If you dont, you gain distance.
Essentially, recognise the disadvantages of their powers. There is a reason why a lot of killers say "you get punished for using your power" and why they M1 as killers like Bubba. An m1 doesnt have any downsides, and very little upsides. An ability has a lot of upsides, but because of that also have a lot of downsides that can be exploited. I honestly dont know why people(coughcoughtruetalentcoughcough) ignore the fact that abilities only punish you if the survivors know how to exploit the downsides. You cant have great power, without great responsibility.

Loop him normally and don't be greedy with pallet loops that are straight.
0 -
Idk why everyone's saying to "fake" pallets and windows when that's almost always a guaranteed hit because there's no cooldown on Demo's power and, if he only holds it for a split second (which is all you need to do to zone out survivors into positions you want) he doesn't get slowed down at all and stays at 115%.
If you want actual ways to play around his power, and I've seen it said already, but take shorter loops and don't be greedy with the long ones. If you're looping a junk loop and you're running around the long side, either don't get greedy and throw it down 1 loop less than what you normally would against other killers, or run around the shorter/rounder side the next time you loop it if you think you can make it.
If the Demo is running Barb's glasses (almost a guarantee at this point), play it like you would against Bubba: you're not gonna get far at all after he shreds the pallet so you have to be more careful about how much you hold W after the pallet break.

He's like if Huntress and Deathslinger had a demented fungus pet that kind of plays like Bubba. There's not much you can do in most situations except drop pallets, and now the glasses add-on makes even that weak.
It's also not a very recent development, this has been an issue with him since his release, it's just that most Demo's suck because they don't want to put in the time to learn him.
Or should I say, they did suck. Now he has two lovely comfort add-ons.
