Which killer has the worst add ons?

WexlerWendigo
WexlerWendigo Member Posts: 1,867

I think we can narrow it down to a couple of options.

Billy - His add ons went from being some of the strongest in the game, to being mostly worthless. LoPro chains are one of the few fun/decent ones he has.

Freddy - Same as Billy, Freddy has had quite a fall. Losing his slowdown add ons leave him with not many options. I guess the best are the add ons that put survivors to sleep at the start, and the ones that reduce his teleport cooldown.

Ghost Face - He is so reliant on the recharge add ons, that everything else is detrimental to his success. Even if he didn’t need the recharge add ons, what else would he even use? I think he’ll be getting an add on pass soon.

Deathslinger - Slinger with and without add ons hardly has a difference. His best ones are the reload speed add ons, which aren’t that great.

Pyramid Head - PH has a very strong base kit, which is fortunate for him, as his add ons are really subpar. The extended range of his power is nice, but everything else is meh.

Honourable mention to Legion, who also doesn’t have too many great ones.

Honestly, it’s a close race between them all, and their add ons pale in comparison to the likes of Spirit, Blight, etc.

I would’ve said Demo would be up there but after his buff, not anymore.

He honestly has some of the best add ons in the game now, especially some of his lower rarity ones are pretty busted.

Yes, I was between him and Freddy for the definitive ‘worst’.

Yeah his add ons are so much better compared to what they used to be.

Freddy. Black Box is useless and joke. Loud add-ons wont work for Freddy. I am playing as Freddy for 4 years and i never needed Stridor. And they gave us Stridor add-ons. Pretty good job.

The loud add ons were so random honestly? It has nothing to do with Freddy really, they’ll never understand that for the most part, chase add ons are easily the best, and everything else is a bad gimmick.

    Nurse i'd say

she has like one or two Add Ons that actually buff her, everything else is either just useless, very gimmicky (= on the verge of being useless) or a straight downgrade

  • WexlerWendigo
    WexlerWendigo Member Posts: 1,867

I didn’t put her on here since her recharge add ons are pretty great, and at least with her, she doesn’t need the best add ons to dominate.

What a tragic tale for Freddy. I remember Old Freddy's add-ons and most of them were really good. Now, he got to a point where playing him with or without add-ons is pretty much the same.

Either Nurse or Hillbilly. Both of them have maybe 1 or 2 addons that actually help them, the rest are useless.

Probably Freddy. He has like one good add-on.

Also, a reminder that for years, Spirit’s duration add ons have been glitched and also give a bonus of a much faster recovery. She’s disgustingly strong in every way.

    Loud add-ons are joke. Freddy is already good killer for map control & patrolling. So i do not know what i have to do with this useless add-ons. I wish they would change they with aura or speed add-ons. Like;

Black Box: If survivor fall sleep you will see auras of this survivor for 6 seconds.

Swing Chains: When survivor trigger snare or dream pallet, this survivor will lose %10 more movement speed for 5 seconds.

I wish they would give us changes like that. Loud add-ons and Black Box is useless. Black Box is ultra rare and it can work only in end game for 15 seconds. Is that worths for 7K BP? Nope.

It's Hillbilly. He needs more turn rate addons, fewer drawbacks to bringing addons (it feels like old nurse where very few addons just do good things), more charge addons, more silent Billy addons that encourage the use of his power (Belt Buckle encourages the killer not use their power), and reversion of Patch 4.1.2.

Fizz-Spin Soda is one of his best add-ons.

Death Throes, Waiting For You Watch, Lucky Blade, and Memento Blades suck ass, I agree.

Edge of Revival + Cut U Thru Single is his best add-on combination.

A tie between Billy and Freddy. Other than his iri add-ons and 4.4 m/s add-on, LoPro Chains is the only Billy add-on I find unique.

Freddy's only good add-ons (excluding his pallet add-ons) are his recharge add-ons, and even those ones need a buff.

Twins are up there. Terrible, oddball addons all throughout the set. Barely any stackable addons.

Toy Sword - Amazing addon. But it's....a brown? A 25% charge time addon is a brown? Nice.

Tiny Fingernail - Pretty useful. One of their better addons. Dropping Victor faster is neat.

Soured Milk - BARELY useful. You don't need Victor sitting around with a larger shriek radius.

    Cat Figurine - Useless

Madeline's Glove - Like soured milk, BARELY useful. Simply just not worth using.

Ceremonial Candelabrum - 0.15 seconds onto the kick time. Are you kidding me?

Cat's Eye - Who the ######### thought of this addon? Worthless. You move at an extremely slow speed with your pounce charged.

Bloody Black Hood - Very meh (0.5 seconds), and the only addon that gives the effect of faster charlotte transition. Why?

Baby Teeth- Blindness for 15 seconds...after taking off Victor. Are you ######### kidding me?

Weighty Rattle - 20 seconds of broken. Meh. Just not worth using, but could've been decent with a longer timer. Pretty trash.

Stale Biscuit - Actually nice, takes off 0.5 seconds off of your cooldown. However, only one of these, once again.

Sewer Sludge - Worthless. You want people to take Victor off. This addon is terrible and has a negative effect.

Rusted Needle - Haemmorrhage. Nice for tracking, but overall, not worth an addon slot. If it added Mangled too, that would've been great.

Madeline's Scarf - More Victor speed, great addon.

Victor's Soldier - Aura reading after they kick a dormant Victor. #########? Worthless.

Spinning Top - Meh. If they have some items, sure. But overall, using an addon slot to counter their items isn't worth it. Trash.

Forest Stew - Amazing addon. More speed, always useful.

Drop of Perfume - Oblivious in Victor's shriek radius. Really? Pointless, and not worth the addon slot. You're far better off using the Ultra Rare.

Silencing Cloth - Actually good. 20 seconds of undetectable for free, always nice. Not their best, but decent.

Iridescent Pendant - Used to be 12 seconds of exposed after kicking victor, which was laughable. Now it's just slightly less trash. Could've had a far more imaginative UR addon. You don't want Victor being kicked, you want Victor around the map pressuring survivors.

I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning ghostface. Most of his add ons don't do anything, especially his ultra rares

    CoalTower Member Posts: 1,730

No it isn't if you're playing efficiently. To avoid recoil, you should tap the button, not hold it, making the addon have no effect.

  • Crowman
    Crowman Member Posts: 9,517

Security Cam is a very solid addon.

Driver's License isn't bad, but with dedicated servers sometimes you just can't lean stalk.

His addons to increase stalk speed when not leaning are alright, they can certainly mean the difference between getting exposed and finishing the 99%.

The increased crouch movement isn't really useful, but is at least better than Movement speed while stalking.

And increased marked duration is just unnecessary as you should be aiming for stalks that you can immediately follow up on.

I wouldn't really say Ghostface has the worst set of addons overall. It just doesn't help him that his power recharge addons overshadow all his other ones.

I highly disagree with Hillbilly having the worst. He has recovery speed, increased steering, increased overheat limit, increased cooling rate, LoPro chains, and decent Iridescents. He is definitely not worse than any of the other killers on OP's list.

Freddy takes second place for me. The new noise add-ons are not that helpful. Reduced Teleport cooldown is decent, Dream Pallets are cool (I see it as more of a different playstyle than a downgrade), and the Red Paint Brush is good. Everything else he has is useless of close to it.

Ghost Face takes worst place for me. His Iridescents are OK but you have to go out of your way to make them work. I personally like Night Vision Monocular but even those mentioned still pale in comparison to recovery add-ons. He REALLY needs an add-on pass and they have to decrease his base cool-down for Night Shroud to make other add-ons viable, just like they did for Wraith by giving him Windstorm.

I agree with Deathslinger's add-ons not making a huge difference from his base-kit, but I think most of them have at least some usefulness.

Pyramid Head's purple and Iridiscents are all hot garbage and I hope he gets a pass for those alone, but his green and below ones are decent. It's just boring that they're all just different levels of the same 4 things.

Legion's aren't too bad in my opinion. Increased FF duration, power recovery, faster cooldown, 2 of the 3 pins, increased DW time, and Iridescent button are all decent.

Simple but wrong answer, they are just janky to begin with,

rather than just decrease the power consumption in charges/second they both increase the max amount of charges and the recovery speed to make it take the same amount of time to recharge while still allowing for longer power duration

the overall recovery is not faster it takes the same amount of time for a full usage of power to recover with and without duration addons

it is not a faster recovery its just poor coding but it works well enough

  • bjorksnas
    bjorksnas Member Posts: 5,619

Pyramid head, they simply don't do much of anything, ever

range addons give 0.5/1/1.5 meters extra range respectively or in other words 6.25% 12.5% or 18.75% longer, which for his most impactful addons are not much at all

and other addons just manage to be more and more underwhelming

Got to be Freddy. His add-ons are literally a joke.

-Wool Shirt: More regression when failing a skillcheck while asleep. Who wakes up by failing skillchecks? Useless.

-Garden Rake: Dream Pallets. Dream Pallets are worse than snares and have been nerfed with the map reworks - most maps have very few locations to place them before any pallets are dropped, if any. Bad.

-Sheep Block: Blindness for 30 seconds after triggering a snare. Hilariously one of his best add-ons despite the effect being worthless, just because it actually has a measurable effect. Still pretty bad.

    -Kid's Drawing: Meme BP add-on.

-Prototype Claws: Meme pallets, but you get 3 seconds of aura reading when they're dropped. Who drops meme pallets when not in a chase? Bad.

-Outdoor Rope: Gen sounds are louder when asleep. Sounds alright, but in reality you don't often patrol gens as Freddy, you teleport to them, reducing the effectiveness of this add-on. Besides, it's only like 8 metres and unreliable due to the asleep condition. Mediocre.

-Cat Block: Haemorrhage for 60 seconds after triggering a snare. Need I say more? Bad.

-Green Dress: Skillcheck add-on but you see their aura for a few seconds if they fail a skillcheck. Cause people fail skillchecks all the time. Useless.

-Nancy's Sketch: Increases dream projection recovery. Despite having very poor values (1.5% if I remember correctly) it's one of his best add-ons because it actually improves him. Mediocre.

-Jump Rope: Bootleg Stridor while asleep. Who cares? It's only 50%, too, so sounds will likely go unheard unless you're a spirit main. In which case, why are you playing Freddy? Bad/Mediocre.

-Paint Thinner: Meme pallets but more aura reading. Pallets aren't good, aura reading doesn't really work with meme pallets. Bad.

-Nancy's Masterpiece: His best add-on. Increases dream projection recovery by, like, 3% or something? Actually increases his strength for once. Good.

-Blue Dress: Skill check add-on but more aura reading. Shouldn't need to explain why this is bad. Useless.

-Unicorn Block: Blindness for 60 seconds when triggering a snare. What amounts to a useless brown add-on on Legion becomes one of Freddy's best add-ons purely because of how awful all the others are. It's still not good, but at least it has a measurable effect. Mediocre.

-Z Block: Haemorrhage for 60 seconds even while healthy when triggering a snare. Sounds interesting but in reality will probably hurt you - you see a blood trail, you follow it hoping to find a vulnerable survivor, then turns out it's a healthy one who knows you're coming and you've wasted all this time. Just follow the scratch marks. Bad.

-Pill Bottle: Interesting effects - harder to see while awake by like 12 metres and you're invisible when carrying a survivor, but neither of these effects really do a lot. Your terror radius is still there to tell survivors how close you are, and the invisibility does nothing but remind people how cool old Freddy used to be. Bad.

-Class Photo: How the mighty have fallen. Makes Freddy worse - since you can't fake your teleport anymore, the amount of things you can do with it are drastically lowered. Besides, most survivors are just going to move out of sight slightly for the teleport duration, see that you're not teleporting to it, then come back without fear of you teleporting again. Bad.

-Swing Chains: Footsteps slightly louder when asleep. Sounds decent, but in reality they still aren't loud enough to hear over the chase music, as is an intentional mechanic. Pretty worthless otherwise, but at least it does something. Bad.

-Red Paint Brush: Used to be his best, now is significantly less good. All survivors being asleep from the start is nice, but since they can't wake up through skill checks or by each other, what are they going to do? Wake up at alarm clocks. Now you have 3-4 survivors running around all immune to your power for 60 seconds or more. This usually happens when you get your first down, meaning applying any more pressure is significantly more difficult. Bad/Mediocre.

-Black Box: Blood Warden for asleep survivors for 15 seconds when an exit gate is opened in that particular exit gate. Situational to the point of uselessness. Plus, it's an ultra-rare. What was wrong with the old effect? Useless.

At least Billy has some good add-ons - Doom Engravings are still pretty good despite the indirect nerf with overheat and the direct nerf with removing charge add-ons, Lopro Chains rarely work but can be novel, Apex Muffler is very good, Dad's Boots and Spiked Boots are both pretty good, brown overheating add-on is nice. Aside from that, though, not much.

  • Luciferr_2nd
    Luciferr_2nd Member Posts: 911

Pyramid heads addons are decent they just arent very interesting. Freddy still has the gen teleport recovery addons and the red paint brush, the rest suck.

Which is 3 good addons, i feel like slinger only has the 2 good ones, the reload addons so i would say slinger.

  • Altarf
    Altarf Member Posts: 1,046

Slinger's also got the missed cooldown add-ons, the Iri Coin even if it's situational, the Prison Chain, the Barbed Wire (one of his best, increases mending by 3.5 seconds), the Rusted Spike, hell, even Bayshore's Cigar isn't terrible. Definitely better add-ons than PH, Nurse, Freddy and the rest.

PH has the range add-ons... and what? Haemorrhage for stepping in trails? Blindness for stepping in trails? Slightly more killer instinct? The only real good add-ons apart from the range is the duration of Rites of Judgement add-ons.

  • Luciferr_2nd
    Luciferr_2nd Member Posts: 911

He has range addons, duration addons, recovery addons, iridescent seal, duration trails stay in environment... They all have a decent effect so i dont think hes the worst.

  • Altarf
    Altarf Member Posts: 1,046

Eh, the recovery add-ons aren't that impactful, even less so when you consider that PH doesn't need his power to be fully charged to use it. The trail duration add-ons are alright if niche, and the seal CAN be very good. It requires everyone to be tormented though, which obviously is a very rare sight, to get good use out of it. At least it doesn't hurt you though. (cough cough red paint brush torn bookmark matchbox cough cough)

The cat figurine isn’t just useless, it actually hinders you in some situations. I only used it once and will never use it again because if you aim a pounce at a survivor who’s near you, you get blinded by the bead of light on them. God help you if they spin near you.

  • Jay_Whyask
    Jay_Whyask Member Posts: 594

I would say Ghostface, but it doesn't feel very fair bringing up a character that obviously isn't finished.

I guess Deathslinger is a good killer to point out, the only add-ons I see people use are his reload speed and missed shot cooldown ones. Also I don't recall any bug fixes mentioning the Deathslinger's reeling speed add-ons, meaning that they should still do literally nothing.

As far as I'm aware the only killer to have any add-ons that just... didn't do anything was original Leatherface. His chili & award winning chili didn't function correctly, acting as placebos.

  • Gwinty
    Gwinty Member Posts: 981

For Killers I play: Ghostface and Hillbilly for sure.

His add-ones offer no real changes to his power and the best are his recovery add-ones. I dislike this, I want add-ones that change the gameplay and offter new and interesting interactions. Bligh and Meyrs are perfect, Meyrs especial with his Scratched Mirror.

In my opinon add-ones should not only make a power better, at least one or two should add a twist to the power.

Ghostface is just boring when you look at it this way. You either make his power better or you do nothing. No interesting add-ones here. Same with Hillbilly.

I know it is hard to design this. But let me have my wishful thinking.
