Calling Deathslinger mains
Ok, I picked up Deathslinger and he's SOOOO much fun! But I do find that I'm not getting much gen pressure as I chase people and my hook count is pretty low as the gens are getting completed. My Slinger is level 30 after prestiging once and I STILL haven't come across Ruin, Monitor or Thanatophobia. I really would like those perks, but until I do does anyone have any Deathslinger tips for someone wanting to do some serious slaying with him?
Thanks for the help and see you in the fog!

I have some tips first of all
STBFL and monitor is his best perks you cannot play him without those perks if you want to dominate. His best addons are reload and missed cooldown on shots
As for slinger himself his best stat is quick scoping his ADS is 0.15 seconds it’s incredibly fast. That’s pretty much it to learn slinger you need to play him more to improve your aim and once you play him enough to Where you never miss then your unstoppable

@ProfGameAndTalk I was a deathslinger main until huntress got buffed but I still mastered his skill but here is the thing with deathslinger. Don't get your hopes up too high with him and saying oh he is so fun and strong because there are good survivors that know exactly how to loop a deathslinger so take him with a grain of salt. Make sure you always go for the hit first then shoot when you can because thats the proper way to play him. Now if you have nurses calling thats a different story but here are my builds/addons I run on him:
- My main build: Ruin, pop, save, nurses with ( Wardens keys, and rusted spike addons )
- Snipe build: save, sloppy, nurses, monitor (Iri coin and prison chain/ gold creek whisky and marshal's badge )
- Ascended anti loop build: enduring, spirit fury, bamboozle, brutal strength. ( Tin oil can, and bayshore's cigar addons)
- Meme Build: coup de grace, nemesis, play with your food and dark devotion ( iri coin and prison chain addons) dont use this build unless you want to

This is gonna sound extremely dumb. But, I run Surge. He has the option of putting survivors right where he wants them so you can get it to work a lot of the times.
Save the Best for Last is an amazing choice on him
Barbecue is another good one
Pop just for that extra gen damage. You can replace it with surveillance instead since surge is up there, but I absolutely loved having Pop and Surge on. It actually came into play a lot for me

Sloppy Butcher is Deathslinger's best friend
It is extremely dangerous to be injured against a deathslinger

I hardcore main him since his release and have one of the highest survivors speared downed according to DBD leaderboards. I can safely say that if you play him a lot and constantly improve your gameplay, he's worth learning as you'll be able to beat really good survivor teams as long as you play optimally.
My main tip is very plain but it's the most important one. Play a lot of sliger and understand how his mechanics works, which tiles you can get downs over and which you can't. Very many people don't understand just how many tiles can deathslinger outplay if he plays his cards right.
In terms of perks, you can run anything you feel suits you. I've been playing with Surge, I'm all ears, whispers and 4th perk of choice and I'm doing just fine, you aren't dependant on any specific perk setup.
Another tip is you might want to consider watching how some slinger mains play as you'll learn a lot about special trick shots or how to properly reel people around pallets which is something you need to see to understand properly.

Wow, excellent advice. I've actually never played with STBFL, so I'll need to check it out.

STBFL is a good perk for him, and then some slowdown like sloppy, corrupt and pop. He doesn't need chase perks because he's already got a great chase, he does struggle with map pressure like you said, especially on big maps, so i recommend the perks above.
Experiment with perks and practice your quick shots, youll be a scary deathslinger to face in no time.

get downs quick.. injure a lot of people and surprise them later with monitor. that's the only way to compensate for his bad map pressure

I run corrupt and surge on slinger. He is slow and has horrible map pressure. But he is extremely oppressive in chase which is why everyone hates him. The biggest thing with slinger...don't miss your shots. If you don't miss, and you have good game sense you will be downing survivors too quickly for them to get gens done.

STBFL is really good on him. You'll have to hit the obsession eventually but you can opt to hit them just once by breaking the chain on them the first time to injure, the hitting them normally. This loses you 2 stacks of STBFL instead of 4. Never use PWYF on him since the shot loses you a stack and the hit loses you another. You could try using Corrupt Intervention, Sloppy, Surge, etc. You can play a bit of hit and run with him, since his deep wound hits can waste a lot of survivors time. You don't always have to go for his shots, you can zone out survivors by baiting that you're gonna shoot. If they stop falling for the bait though and stop dodging your shots, then you can start shooting them again.

What about Slinger's gun? It's not hitscan like some Overwatch characters is it? Do I need to be leading the survivor? Is that just something I need to get a feel for?

Switch monitor with Starstruck. Thank me later.
@op forget about Thana. Survivors won´t stay injured against him. As its extremely dangerous. Also Ruin isn´t really worth it. Hex perks are to vulnerable.
Perks that are great on him:
- Nurse Calling (seeing healing survivors and sniping them is glorious).
- Save the Best for last (faster cooldown between hits) You can also reduce the amount of hits to the obsession, since a survivor who frees himself from the spear doesn´t count as hit. So it won´t impact you as much.
- Starstruck (exposing survivors is great for him)
- Make your choice (see above)
- Monitor (to get a nice early hit) AVOID using it together with Starstruck.
Try to get survivors out in the open. He´s terrible at running in circles. But can shoot over low obstacles like cars.

Yeah, you need to be leading the survivor. Not by a large amount - it's difficult to describe, but you get used to it.
Also, for the thread question, Surge works really well on Slinger. Ruin is weak on him because he's got no map pressure or mobility, Pop isn't very good on him because he has no mobility and slows himself down a lot with reeling, reloading, etc, Oppression is oppression - surge works well on him because it removes the need to kick gens, it synergises with reeling survivors towards gens, and generally doesn't need much investment to work. It saves a lot of time, time you desperately need as slinger.

Ok, thank you. Gotta learn some flicking. I'll have to get a feel for that.

Wait, how did you know you're the top of the leader board, what leader board?

This is the best site that can show you your DBD statistics if you're interested in that. For deathslinger I just change the perfect games section in top right corner into survivors downed while speared which shows players who have the most downs using slinger's power across all steam players.
I'm usually around stop 20 which is pretty good I might say for playing quite casually.

Is this just for pc?
