Does This Forum Even Do Anything?

I'm a long time player but new to this forum.

I'm seeing people with thousands of posts, and tons of people repeating the same issues they have. It seems the problems don't get fixed, or addressed in any manor.

Has anyone ever seen results from this forum?

This forum is a great symbolization of the Entity's world and trials. It never ends and there is no possible escape. You stay there with your little fragments of hope, but then they evaporate and you discard yourself into the Void.

Personally the forums are an entertaining dumpster fire. People just come here to scream into a void and hope the benevolence of the devs shine through.

But no, nothing happens, this place is just a pit of anger and stupidity.

A forum is an exchange of ideas, a place where you can stand on your own personal soapbox and speak your mind. In England the people who do this in the park are called "the nutters" and in the United States we barely notice them. So the forum does exactly what it was designed to do, nothing more and nothing less. If you expect the DEV to jump at every post (or even every 1,000) you have unrealistic expectations. Heck, I suspect if you added up the conflicting responses and mutually exclusive ideas, it would be impossible to act on anything. :)

There is an area of this Forum for Feedback & Suggestions. I always suggestion people make polite, constructive comments there. Most people don't bother and just vent, screed, and rage in the general comments area, apparently thinking the squeaky wheel gets the grease. By in large, the noisy, obnoxious Players "crying wolf" just get tuned out. In summary, if you want to come vent, speak your mind, offer suggestions, or just meet and chat with other people who share the hobby with you, this is the place to be. If you want instant gratification and someone to immediately jump at your command, you are in the WRONG place. :)

Things have certainly been fixed or changed from posts made to feedback and suggestions as well as the bug reporting boards.

Also not everything people post on this forums are a legitimate issue either.

Yes, the mods are collecting feedback from the forums and bring them to the dev team. Especially on the OoO proposal and UI changes there were dedicated threads.

of course the forums are not the only platform where they collect feedback though, other social media like Twitter and discord or several surveys are also used.

We have a dedicated section for Feedback and Suggestions (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/suggestions) which can be used to post ... well feedback and suggestions. It is the section that is also looked at and best way to see what the Community things. For that it is important those also constructed in a constructive manner, too. But please be assured, it is looked at. A part of what the community team does is also forward feedback from the players to the developers.

Bug reports also help the team to figure out which bugs might be affecting majority of players, which bugs are happening right now, etc.

Generally, a forum is a place to exchange ideas between people, too. Interacting and connecting with the community. The forum has more than just one use basically. There are many different areas to it.

IMO I love the surveys the most. They are fun to do and well put together. I would LOVE to have those available to us, monthly :-)

I remember that 23 page console optimisation thread a while ago. That got current gen some love (mind you it still needs more)

Well, there are certain things people talk about all the time that don't have an easy solution or any solution at all (e.g camping,tunneling,slugging,toxicity,hitboxes/latency etc.)

But that doesn't mean we haven't had any influence on the game here (e.g Demo Rat Liver nerf on the 4.7.0 PTB,Blight getting fixed on console thanks to @Bloodshade ,Twins buff after her PTB etc.)

Other than those more or less obvious examples, the forum also helps by giving a ton of feedback and bug reports

Usually it is a repetition of what people have said before, but rarely does it actually get to the devs as far as we know, since they hardly communicate with anyone from the community not just the forums.

    • But then we have the bait posters
    • The people who make guides to help people
    • The memesters
    • The people who complain (everyone)

But all that aside it is pretty entertaining here.

Mostly you're able to Express you're opinion's and Idea's, but thing's do get done here because of the forum's

Just look at the Buffs and Nerfs recieved around the board

and the things that get removed, for good or bad is still debatable.

Such like Mori nerfs, which took a key strategy out of the game but prevented the toxicity of Moris to dissipate I'm sure I'm the only one who runs Ebonys still.

I would always go for the two hook mori never the one unless I have one or two gens left, which on a mutual standpoint of the game was acceptable.

    I didn't notice a single thing.

We still got a ton of triggers for FPS drops/screen freezes and also get them randomly throughout the match
