How BHVR Insults Their Userbase in DBD
This model needs to change. It worked 5 years ago, but now is an insult to the userbase.
The more you support BHVR with DLC purchases, the more difficult it is to customize your build.
When this game was first released there were 5 killers and 5 survivors:
Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Nurse, Huntress
Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea
Each side had 15 perks between the survivors/killers and a small handful of extra perks (14 now but unsure if all 14 were available during initial release) that could be used when leveling. So 29 total perks on each side. At 3 levels per perk this was around 87 levels needed to acquire all perks with a ~3.4% chance to get the perk you wanted on the blood web (assuming you had them all unlocked.)
Fast forward 5 years and we now have 25 survivors and 23 killers. Meaning, 89 perks for survivors and 83 for killers. This doesn't include the next DLC coming in about 2 weeks.
Assuming you have all perks unlocked, your chances of getting the perk you want has now become 1.1% for survivors.
This means after 2021 is over, you'll officially have less than 1% chance to get the perk you want on a survivor when leveling.
BHVR charges money every 90 days for new DLC but then gives the user around 1% chance to get the new perks on their other characters. In later levels, yes there are more available in the tree, but that hardly changes the chances to get the one you want.

I think they should make perks untiered, meaning no level 1 2 or 3, a perk is just that perk and you only have to unlock it once. This also means they don't have to give a perk some other number/function just to have something that changes between levels
I don't really think they're insulting people though, it's just an antiquated feature that hasn't been changed much besides making a few more perks spawn on high level bloodwebs

The biggest thing I'm hoping with the Year 5 roadmap is a rework to the Bloodweb. It is so new player unfriendly it's ridiculous.

That's what I want, also.

This is about to go down immediately

When this game released 5 years ago, there were 3 killers and 4 survivors. Trapper, Wraith and Billy. Dwight, Meg, Claudette and Jake
The grind was A LOT worst back then, sure the perk pool was smaller but bloodwebs were a lot more expensive and it was a lot harder to obtain bloodpoints, Bloody Party Streamers, Escape! Cakes and Survivor Puddings didnt exist, neither did WGLF or BBQ.
For each DLC coming out as well there was no such thing as a shop or a way to obtain original DLC's with in game currency, so you HAD to buy them
Somethings have improved, but others have become outdated, looking at you Bloodweb

Yeah. Despite all the questionable things BHVR does you have to admit there is plenty they do right.

Don't forget the blood point offering problem NO ONE and I mean NO ONE ever talks about. The fact that the offerings themselves exist just to take AWAY your BP. If they simply didn't exist at all you would gain more. The possible gain on them is so small that they shouldn't be there.
Grey point offering. WHOA a whole 1,000 BP bonus if I manage to MAX out that category.
Green one. WHOA! a whole 3,000 BP but only in the event I max out that category.
Whats this mean? The vast majority of times BP offerings will result in you LOSING bp
Don't even get me started on killers being FORCED to buy ALL THREE tiers of mist offerings. Get forced to buy a SINGLE purple mist? You just cancelled out 6 grey offerings but only if you maxed all 6 out. If not you just took a loss.....

Another silly thing about the bloodweb I have noticed is WHATEVER perks show up become MORE likely to show up again. What do I mean?
Say Insidious shows up and you don't want it. If you don't pick it. There is a TREMENDOUS chance it will show up the VERY NEXT TIME. I've tested this multiple times on different trees. The unwanted perk can show up 3-4 times in a row. Select the perk to try to get rid of it? Same thing. There is a VERY good chance tier 2 shows up in the next tree and so on. This WOULD Be a good thing if you're lucky enough to get the perk you want. But there is no way for the system to tell if you wanted it or not.
and FFS let us sell items back to the blood web. If you're a P3 character you will end up with MILLIONS and MILLIONS of grey items you're never going to use but were FORCED into buying.

The massive grind is one of the biggest complaints towards this game. I am sure they are already working on concepts to change how the bloodweb works and how you get perks.

This game has soooo many antiquated design choices now that I really wonder why they havent been touched for years.

I do have to agree, it is ironically easier for a new player when a new killer comes out because they have a way lower pool of perks they have to draw from in the blood-web. Even with the new changes they did and the bloodpoint code system it is pretty darn to outfit the survivor or killer you are leveling up. Its still so much better than it has ever been but it needs another QOL pass

the dbd mobile shop is still a mess

This is only a problem if you need to run a specific build, though, and I have never felt compelled to do that. It seems a lot better if you're approaching it from a perspective of "I'll get what I get and try to find some good synergy".
Probably in the minority, but I like having a reason to run other perks and I think that making it easier to get meta perks would hurt build diversity in the short term. Long term, in a future where most perks are about the same strength, this would be fine.

I would like to see a bloodweb rework. Or a Perk Tier rework. Where there isn't 3 tiers to each perk. :-)

There were 3 killers and 4 survivors when the game first released. So get your facts right. And second of all, that's not insulting their player base at all. Every character has 3 perks. Adding characters is obviously going to add perks. They aren't, and shouldn't, change this. They need to add new characters to make money, which keeps the game going. Would you prefer no game at all? I'm not one for defending BHVR, but this is just pure entitlement and idiocy.

Yeah I don't think you understood the post at all.
How is that "entitlement" or "idiocy" to note a blatantly clear fault in the game.
Very simply put the games own mechanics over time PENALIZE you the more loyal you are to the game. That's a fact.
1 -
That's not a penalty. You get more perks for more variety in your builds. Yes, the grind is an issue, but it's not hard to level up a character to have all the perks.
It's entitlement because they're trying to say that they shouldn't release DLCs as often, just because they can't keep up with the grind.
And it's idiocy that they actually expect them to do that.

This post is all over the place. It is a penalty. Nobody wants variety they want the perks they want and buying DLC actively makes this harder to do. How you gonna mention the grind then go right back to saying it isn't an issue. Do you have any idea how much BP it takes to put all the perks on a new character? MILLIONS of BP. This again increases in BP every single DLC.
They never said they shouldn't release DLC as often. IDK how that is your take. Wouldn't it be easier to assume they're saying they should change how perks are distributed? There has to be a better way of doing this to where like the guy said. By the end of 2021 the chance of a particular perk showing up will be less than 1%. DBD doesn't plan to die anytime soon. That less than 1% figure will go even lower. Will it be a problem when there is a 0.1% change to get the perks you want?

I mean, I have all killers P350 with every perk. It's not all that difficult to do. If you have an issue with this, don't buy DLCs, or don't unlock teachables until you're ready to do so. Making each character have less than 3 perks is dumb. That would be changing something that's been going on since the game came out. The only semi logical thing to do about perks is to not release DLCs as often, but that makes the devs lose potential money, some of which is used to keep this game running. Instead, they should simply increase the bloodpoint gain. Perks aren't the issue here. You aren't forced to buy DLCs, and you aren't forced to unlock perks from a character.

and how much BP did you waste to do that?
1 -
Idk. All I know is that it took me about 4 months to get everyone to P350, then maybe a month to get all perks on all characters. So 5 months give or take. But I wasn't just leveling up killers. I was also doing my survivors as well, since I want to get better at survivor.

Exactly. Its ridiculous. When I first prestiged a character I was planning on using all items first.
After months I realized that this would literally be impossible to do with everyone unless I wanted to play the game daily for 15 years or something. Started using all but grey items....then all but yellow and grey...so on and so on. Until just getting them to lvl 50 and instantly prestiging them. This is a problem within itself. If you want to prestige the characters too you're required to waste an insane amount of BP to do so.
Each DLC devalues level 50 a little bit more. So by the time you hit level 50 there is less and less chance you have the perks you want. So if you did eventually plan to prestige you would be forced to still spend a million years using up alll items but you would be doing it WITHOUT the perk loadout you want. Increasing the incentive to just prestige right away because you're only going to waste even more points if you continue to lvl the 50 tree to get perks you want if you're planning on prestiging at some point.
and there is no way you got all perks on all characters in a month unless you played 10 hours a day.

That is less the time I play in a day. I'm in online school and I do my work while I'm in queues 😂
Somehow I still manage straight A's, but that's not the point. The point is that I play from 7 in the morning to around midnight.
