Has anyone noticed an increase in tunneling lately?

I'm not sure if i'm oblivious to something or what but it's been about 5 games in a row that i've been straight tunneled by killers. Most between the ranks of 12-15. The common tactics are waiting for the hook cool down time and specifically ignoring those who weren't recently hooked. Normally this isn't a problem as I play all the time but there seems to be a significant increase in this manner of playing.

Not trying to start any fights here, just want to make sure if i'm imagining this or not. It's becoming quite frustrating to wait for a game just to get a killer who plays like that.

FWIW i'm not playing with any toxic builds (SWFs, DS, Flashlights, etc).

Nah I dont think you're oblivious I have seen quite a lot of tunneling as well and I play around purple to red ranks.

Also little side note DS, SFW and flashlights arent toxic its how you use them. And again ive said this many times on the forums SFW isnt inherently toxic its again how the people choose to play. God damn

I've noticed an uptick in survivors unhooking in the killer's face and not always with BT so if not swf seems like killer may be camping/tunneling but really it's teammate killing everyone with bad unhooks.

Could also be the challenges to sacrifice x players. Alot of players want the challenges that take multiple matches to be finished as quickly as possible so in case of sacrifice a killer may tunnel a player out to atleast guarantee one sacrifice and if they can do it quickly that's one less survivor working on objective/available to help team.

In my experience, the average survivor and average killer are both toxic. People like to think it's just "the other side" that's toxic... it really isn't.

I noticed an increase of survivors complaining about tunneling even though they aren't taking DS or getting unhooked without BT. Like tunneling is a valid strategy if the Killer knows they don't have anti tunneling perks. If they are just tunnelling you for grieving sakes well I assume they probably lost the match and got hardly any BP.

Yes I have.. in the last 3-4 days, literally 90% of my matches have resulted in the killer face camping/proxy camping.

The only thing toxic is the endgame chat imo. Like, how is a character crouching up and down or clicking a light at you toxic?

Same for killers. How is hitting a person on the hook toxic? Tunneling and camping aren't toxic, because they're a playstyle.

Nothing that you can do in-game is toxic.

No, but I have noticed a massive drop in Survivors taking protecting hits, trading hooks, shoulder saves, and/or stealing chases. The lack of these things naturally results in the same person getting put on the hook twice in a row. More to the point, I see fewer safe rescues, the rescuer has this odd habit of vanishing like a Ninja the second they get you down. This leaves the injured Survivor the only visible target rather often.

So no, I don't see Killers really going out of their way to Tunnel more, but I do see less effort to deflect them. Killers have always gone for the easiest, most viable target. The key difference is that in the past more effort was taken to dissuade them. :) It is the job of SURVIVORS, not Killers, to protect their peers. It is in the interest of Survivors to take the actions or bring the tools required. I still don't see Borrowed Time near as often as I should. I don't get hit with DS near as often as I used to get hit with it. Apparently there is this silly protest and less people taking it because they can't do objectives in the Killer's face. Fewer people taking DS means Killers will get stunned less. Go figure.

Do you see where I'm going with all of this?

It's like this since from the beginning of the game in 2016. It's a obvious and good tactic to remove someone from the trial as fast as possible, otherwise you'll get pressured in the late game, and you can't blame Killer for doing what they need to do.

"And where's the fun in that?" Well what choice does he have my friend? Letting you go to heal and do generators? Get out of your box a little bit and play Killer to see for yourself why they do it.
