Here Is The Counterplay To Spirit!
Comments
-
yeah you know right suddenly people said there's counter to spirit downright dont wanna accept the challenge.
Just for once prove all of us wrong that there's indeed way to lose chase for spirit or can last as long as any other killer in chase simple as that
1 -
I get that a lot of players do the whole "but the 1V4 matters you shouldn't have a chance of losing the killer, etc" to defend Spirit and even Deathslinger, but I when I look at all the killers I actively enjoy playing as or even against the most, they all have clear cut counterplay. Billy, Huntress, Leatherface, etc.
When I see a killer and think "guess I'll die" it really kills my motivation to continue playing the match.
I don't enjoy playing as Spirit anymore because I know that I have full control, and nothing short of me getting an important phone call or a power cut is going to prevent that 4K. Same with Slinger.

I fixed to make it simple, just like how much IQ u need when using Spirit (as her flowchart)
1 -
well i mean in many chases, he just walked into spirit with no power, like at the shack and he reversed drop pallets when she was not even in phase. maybe he should do what otz did and see if anyone nails a long chase vs her.

You can prove us wrong if you do the challenge with more distance in. The fella who did the challenge has big balls and admitted they were wrong about Spirit afterwards.
If you don't do the "mistakes" the Ace did, maybe you can prove us wrong. Also, Spirit's power make survivors make mistakes, just so you know.
3 -
To those still saying there is a way to counterplay Spirit, prove it. Take his challenge and get recorded doing some jukes :D DO EET!
2 -
You'd think people who make such a big fuss about the 1v4 would want a good equilibrium with the 1v1, not "I want the most fun part of the game to be a predetermined outcome in my favor".
2 -
Lame man's terms: EZ Mode xD I love you, Pop Pop. Keep 'em up lol.
0 -
Mm yes that's me, Pop Pop.
1 -
I love Team Four Star lol
1 -
Are you sure about that? Scott was playing without addons or perks and you can use perks if you want, the survivor did at the second part of the challenge. Strap SB, get your early start against him, and show us your flawless display of skill.
2 -
It only takes a few matches against a really good Spirit to realize there's no counter play. Solo queue survivors have known this for ages now.
5 -
"This guy played it all wrong."
"I'm not going to do the challenge, it's not a real challenge."
LOL
7 -
Man...you guys are on one today. Me pointing out the survivor ran into the killer at shack when the killer wasn't even faking a phase =/= me having flawless skills or even claiming to have them. Like...in the post you replied to I said 30 second chase tops. Not exactly elite.
Like I said earlier, my point of contention has always been about the 1v4 which Scott himself has said he doesn't consider to be counterplay.

Not here to say she has counterplay but that survivor didn't play the best. The strat to versing spirit is to reduce the amount of options she has to make the "mindgame" more predictable.
His first few chases were awful, he started playing well at the end reducing scotts options.
Still don't know why he didn't vault into him a few times, seems he didn't know about the animation change showing when she went into phase.

wild thread of people saying "spirit has counterplay. just dont interact with her at all. this guy did it all wrong but i wont take the challenge and prove it i'll just post saying she has counterplay." why are you simping for her so bad? she's not even a kpop star.
5 -
He was doing everything that others say how to counter a Spirit. Now people get to see how stupid it really was.
1 -
Exactly!
2 -
No he really wasn't doing it correctly until the end where he started camping pallets and not mindlessly W keying to loops allowing her to get instantly back on his ass.
Hard camp pallets, don't W key, look for animation change, get lucky with the map rng, make the stars align, cure cancer, and then you might loop a good spirt if you mindgame her. That's so much RNG however I'm not willing to call that counterplay.
However, that doesn't take away from the fact that he didn't play that great.
1 -
At one point, Scott heard him slow vault a pallet while he was healthy and smacked him. You cannot win against good headphones.
0 -
I think she is still weak.... Maybe devs could give her 10 secs one shot when she exits phase.
1 -
You're meant to fast vault because you can hear both slow and fast vaults. Depending on how much duration he had left on phase it was up to him to guess which side she would devote to.
0 -
take the challenge instead of telling us about it. prove it. the path is open, walk it or sit down.
3 -
You can sometimes get away with window slow vaults. Pallet slow vaults make survivors grunt and stomp their feet though. Either way, it's mainly just trying to force 50/50s. Now cue 10 people yelling "PROVE IT" even though we're actually saying there's not much you can do.
0 -
What's the point when IM AGREEING with scott? She has such absurd RNG reliant counterplay that the result would be the same.
All I'm saying is that he could've played better especially on the first few chases. The result would've been the same anyway unless he got SUPER lucky.
People don't like using matches against inefficient players to prove something, this is no different. If I went and 4ked with trickster and said trickster was a good killer I would be laughed at.

sadly you gotta play the stealth game cause you won't even last that long versus a good spirit
0 -
He probably won't... lol

pRovE iT yoU wOnT
even though Ive openly said she has lottery style "counterplay" many times that I personally don't categorise as valid counters.
1 -
Window slow vaults also cause survivors to grunt now.
3 -
That's all anyone's been trying to prove, that there's not much you can do. Sure you can hide, slam gens and pray, maybe even get away with it, but if it's an actually good spirit and she gets you in her sights then you have approximately nil meaningful plays to make in your next 10-20 seconds of life.
And if you're not trying to say otherwise, staring off with "This guy clearly did everything wrong and this proves nothing" is a misleading way to agree.
3 -
Dude, I just explained why this set-up imaginary gamemode is completely meaningless. There is absolutely no point to this little mini-game Scott wants to play. It's a non-existent gamemode and doesn't reflect public matches AT ALL.
Also, counterplay is something I expect to exist for both sides in a PvP game. Many loops and pallets don't have "consistent counterplay" so I would assume that those should be nerfed , too, right? Everything needs counterplay after all.
Spirit's counterplay DURING chase might involve "inconsistent" elements such as reads/guesses or just luck and that's completely fine. If a Killer can't get hits based on his own input you end up with trash-tier Killers that just lose if the survivor team is actually good at the game.
Consistent counterplay for survivors in this game just translates to safe loops/pallets that waste time without much thought put into using them. And those shouldn't exist.

Last a minute against Scott's Spirit then.

His argument is exclusively the 1v1 chase between the Spirit player and survivor. Scott isn't arguing that Spirit cannot be beaten 1v4. No need to refine anything, it should be intuitive this was about chase.
He said at the start of the video that this challenger was a spirit defender in his comments. I got massive killer main vibes from watching him get chased. That was not a good survivor player. At all. He tried all the tricks (the ones you have suggested to players to do before) and had a 100% failure rate. The survivors pathing and camera control (hence the bad pallet drops and poorly times vaults) was awful and the chase should of lasted longer (not a huge deal because it's a chase against a good spirit). Compare it to the 1v1 between Scott and Zubat years ago on spirit. I think collision wasn't removed yet and he lasted thrice the time just using tiles correctly and general mastered micro for survivor.
This looked like somebody with very little survivor experience trying to implement "counter-play" they've said works to try and sell Spirit is a balanced killer. Something many MANY killer mains here try to do.

Hrm. That was my point earlier, when I pointed out Spirit has counter play but in terms of a game, not 1v1 chase. Survivors always lose a 1v1 chase eventually. So it is clear my understanding of what people are demanding to be so-called counter play is different from how I define it. To me, it just means it is possible to beat the Spirit (even a good one). I'm not defending the Spirit; I don't play her at all. I've suggested that when not in Haunt she should be the same as my Tier-1 Myers, i.e. 105% speed. I do think she needs a minor tweak. But I strongly disagree with this notion that she has no counter play (at least as I define it).

Yes but this video wasn't about the 1v4 with spirit. You chimed that in. It's really not relevent. The criteria was fair and reflects a likely situation in a chase scenario with spirit. Something survivors have been complaining about forever. Once we're done with spirit, deathslinger is next. Now that's irrelevent to this topic lol!!
Yes under your definition of counterplay then Spirit can be countered - ish. I'm still not a believer that stealth is a valid playstyle high elo because you slow down the game too much. It's not hard to find survivors. Show me the content that proves me wrong.
Interesting suggestion but it doesn't fix spirits core issue of risk free use of power for huge pressure on survivor. That just makes spirit harder to first get into but virtually the same once you have got phase walk down. I'd say she needs a smackdown nerf: passive phase removed, phase has a global sound queue once she starts channelling once she enters the phase and you can see her leave a trail and make noise moving around in phase. Her power gets fully consumed per phase. You watch, with my changes she will still remain top tier. She just became so much harder to play now. Health.

This somehow made me hate playing against Spirit even more. The way Spirit can even tell if you slow vault back over a pallet by listening to the survivor grunt. I never even thought about that. He literally knew everything the Ace was doing... all without Stridor too.
1 -
1v1 chase is always on this game you think killer could chase 2 survivor simultaneously ? this is the real situation in game. Killer spot you, chasing start. dont try to defend this, this is the element of real play.
case with other killer if you're good you could last until 1 mins or you could escape the killer.
anyway with that guess or reads please please accept the challenge and prove that read or guess works. as you see in the video it doesnt work
2 -
You can say that about any killer. The problem with Spirit is that unlike other killers, more trials don't mean better understanding of counterplay.
0 -
This video is about spirit having no sort of counterplay
Every 1v1 designed killer has counterplay except her for some reason
1 -
The best counter to Spirit is to play altruistically to prevent depipping lol
1 -
Hint: she doesn't.
