Mathieu Cote's New Nightmare
I'll be honest, I have never liked Freddy as he appears in dbd. Even if we're talking about the Freddy from the remake, he just doesn't feel right. He was very poorly handled and implemented originally due to the rush to get him into a proper time slot, BHVR realized this and gave him a make over, but now we see a new issue... is this Freddy? Because I don't think feel like this current build for him feels like either version of him from the movies. I know we most likely will not be seeing a new rework anytime soon, but regardless I wanted to throw my hat into the ring. The following aims to find a balance between power and authenticity with The Nightmare.
The Nightmare
32m Terror Radius
32m Lullaby
4.5m/s 115% movement speed
DREAM DEMON:
Dream Demon cloaks The Nightmare from awake survivors so that he can not be heard or seen, with the exception of the Terror Radius. The Nightmare is incapable of harming awake survivors.
Micro-Sleep:
Survivors will have a clock behind their character's hud that will count down while you are in The Nightmare's Terror Radius for up to 30 seconds. When the clock has filled the survivor will begin a Dream Transition. If the survivor enters the Dream World, Micro-Sleep's timer resets.
Dream World:
Survivors who are in the Dream World suffer from the Oblivious and Incapacitated Status Effects. Survivors only hear The Nightmare's non-directional Lullaby.
Waking Up:
Survivors can wake up and leave the Dream World by performing the Wake Up action on themselves. having the Wake Up action performed on them by an awake survivor, or by being hooked. Having an awake survivor wake you up is twice as fast. [Wake up usually takes about 8 seconds without help]
SPECIAL ABILITY: Dream Transition
The Nightmare can press and hold the Power button to target a survivor up to 16 meters away and begin a Dream Transition. During this, over a period of 6 seconds, they will fade in and out of sleep, after this they enter the Dream World.
SPECIAL ABILITY: Dream Projection
Press and hold the Active Ability button to perform a Dream Projection. A Dream Projection will create a copy of you from up to 16 meters away and through walls. Finishing the action will teleport The Nightmare to the Dream Projection's location. Releasing the button after completing at least half the action will cause the Dream Projection to linger for 3 seconds. Releasing the button before completing half the action will cause the Dream Projection to turn into a puddle of blood.

So it's a mixture of old and new freddy, but
- his early game is like old freddys: complete trash; you have to work to even hurt somebody (which is the dumbest idea the Devs ever had)
- in the dream world the survs arent just slowed down like in the old days, but can straight up do nothing (why? this is just boring)
- they can only wake up by hooks / other team mates, so the freddy can just slug to win (i hope you just didnt mention it, but it seems like you wanted to remove the ability to wake up from failing skillchecks / alarm clocks)
- Dream Transition is awful
- i dont even understand why you want to change dream projection

old Freddy was literal garbage, why do people want him back

Because he wasn't, if you knew what you were doing. Old Freddy was a solid mid-tier killer, but he demanded a very unique playstyle. Do not chase people until you were ready, keep juggling survivors between awake and asleep, hit and run tactics, and this list goes on.
Even Otz himself said that Old Freddy was not the weakest killer. Of course, that doesn't mean he was perfect, the only perfect version of Freddy was right when he released. Afterwards, he had his weaknesses. But he definitely was not garbage.

It is an interesting idea, granted, but it might need a few changes. Please keep in mind, this is just my opinion.
Always Incapacitated in the Dream World is broken, because you won't be able to do anything. And Dream Projection should stay the way it currently is. I have a concept, if I may share:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see glimpses of The Nightmare and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Generator Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
-For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by stack-able 20%.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger

To an extent he is a mixture, but covering some of the weirdness of his first build with things that make a bit more sense for the character. Going through each point.
1. Early game is hard, but that is Freddy's entire point. Looking at the perks he comes with its obvious he's meant to build himself up as a terrifying killer. I wanted to try and stick with that theme. (Was thinking of changing the wake up mechanics a bit to reflect this as well but decided I wanted to get feedback first.)
2. The survivors are able to wake themselves up, so it's the same amount of boring as sitting on a gen which is what the complaint is about anyways.
3. Again, survivors can wake themselves up. I removed the alarm clocks cause I thought it took you put the game too much to run across the map and that failing a skill check was a bit too punishing if not annoying, not to mention you cant get skill checks while incapacitated.
4. I did shorten the time by a second from its original timer and wondered if I needed to buff it some more. Its good for freddy to have a way to force people to sleep.
5. Dream Projection is actually really cool, I think it suits Freddy a lot, however it doesnt quite work with the rest of the kit. That said, I could reintroduce it and combine it with Dream Transition, making everyone at the current gen immediately fall asleep. Again these were thought that I was waiting until feedback came in to talk about.
This is also a very nice idea, much more straight forward with its design than mine. Only thing is 40% is way too much imo. Granted you can just fail a skill check but that also feels too punishing.

I think 40% is a good idea. As you know, Old Freddy had a 50% Slowdown, which was a necessity since he did not have a chase power or mobility. Since my idea includes mobility, a fellow user suggested its reduction to 40%.
I think it is a good thing, it encourages survivors to wake up by failing a skill check (which is a good thing for you) and prevents the gen-rush in the Dream World. Not to mention that you can wake up with a teammate's help, which won't alert Freddy and will remove the slowdown.
Besides, fast-paced trials are way too common these days. Perhaps this is a chance to change it.
