Playing a bad killer is not an excuse

This one goes out to you Trickster and Twins mains who don't want to put in the time to learn any mechanical skill.

Playing a bad killer does not excuse rampant camping and tunneling, saying you had to play that way because the killer is bad is the most worthless excuse I've ever heard.

If you struggle so much with a killer, you can put in the time to get better.

All that will do it force you into a loop where you can never win doing anything else because its engraved into your muscle memory.

Especially where Twins are concerned because they aren’t actually a bad killer. That’s just an unwillingness for the player to learn how to do well with Twins without “plant Victor or Charlotte near hook”

I often see that excuse used "I'm playing Wraith, I HAVE to camp". No you don't that's absurd.

^ is right. It's a player mindset problem. These people won't change. They think of themselves as victims and do this to "get back" at those evil survivors.

But... placing Victor or Charlotte near the hook is how their power is designed? Not much I can do about it if I down somebody with Victor and a hook is near him while idle. And what if I want to immediately start controlling Victor to spread pressure after hooking someone? Boom, I'm inadvertently camping. Ideally, Victor should be destroyed if idle and within very close proximity to a hook once somebody is hooked there, but nothing more than that.

Twins are a bad killer if you don't participate in some form of camping or slugging, as that is literally what they are designed for. I'm sorry, but if you think otherwise, you must not be going against high caliber survivors - going out of your way to NOT inadvertently camp with the Twins is even more inefficient than they already are and flat-out throwing the game sometimes. Not slugging with Victor is just outright playing badly. It's like not slugging with Oni.

Crouching into the hook counters Victor's camping as you can kick him without alerting killer instinct, yet in all my time playing Twins I have NEVER seen a survivor who has used this. Not even the best teams.

    hahaahAHHAHAHAHAHA

Buddy I camp and tunnel like crazy and when I don't feel like doing it I get a 4k just fine too. It's the same as "don't use NOED or you'll get bad". Survivors know nothing about playing killer, specially weak killers, even more specially weak killers like Trickster in maps with infinties like Haddonfield.

I'll play however I like and if you don't like it you can go cry to the Entity.

You don't need an excuse to play like that, so long as you're playing how you want to play that's all that matters.

I don't play either Trickster or the Twins, so my opinion is not predicated on any bias. I play both Killer and Survivor (mostly Solo). It is NOT the Killer's job to protect the Survivors, nor handle them with kid's gloves. That is the job of Survivors. Everything within the rules is playing clean. Scummy doesn't come into it. This thread is pointless; get better at the game or play with other Survivors who are better at the game.

Why does it matter how a killer decides to play?

Shaming people to play in a way that you approve of is a bad mindset to have.

I would sympathize but from my experience playing trickster and twins (funnily enough) for the sole purpose of getting better at them (not hardcore tunneling and camping just spam using their power to get the mechanics down) has made me bitter.

I've played so damn nice on killers that I am CLEARLY struggling with and trying to get better with, but I can't get better since each match lasts 5 god damn minutes. I need to camp and tunnel and run crutch perks because I am ass with these killers. I physically cannot apply pressure when I'm still trying to figure out how to use their power and I cannot learn how to use their power when the matches only last a few minutes.

The you should run slowdown perks. Ignore the comments calling you a trash killer it only feeds into you not wanting to learn. Resorting to camping and tunneling is a bad idea even if the game is 5 minutes.

In those 5 minutes you can still do things to learn how to killer plays. Also kyf exist so you could always go practice with friends there.

How else will you apply pressure on the survivors?

Mechanical skill doesn't help the Trickster on that have lots of LoS blocking objects. The Twins were basically made for camping since you can guard the hook while chasing another survivor. If you can't pressure around the map, you might as well just stay near the hook.

Twins aren't even on the same planet as trickster, they're actually really strong without playing scummy. The problem is playing twins scummy is easily rewarded by the game.

Trickster is bad and I honestly don't even feel bad when he decides to camp his 2nd hook at 5 gens done. He needs help.

Isn't Twins built around playing scummy though? You're NEVER going to win if you play nice as Twins unless you go against really, really incompetent survs. Twins is the worst killer in the game if you don't camp, slug, or tunnel with them.

Killer play can literally never be scummy because the game is so insanely Survivor favored, rofl. Survivors are literally DESIGNED to win. It's a GAME DESIGN for Survivors to win.

Survivors call Killers scummy when they dare ruin the Survivors' 4-escape victory with 1 single sacrifice. They're so used to flawless victories, that if someone messes up and gets themselves hooked (dunno how, when you have over 5 minutes of safe chase time) and then gets camped, Survivors call that scummy because "Killers should just bend over and take it all, and aren't allowed to have ANY consolation at all."

It's a wonder anyone even still plays Killer.

The reason you can't apply pressure is because this game is a true 4v1 now.

You, the Killer, can only do 1 thing at a time. You can chase 1 single person, which means 3 people are doing generators. Also, this 1 chase can take several minutes against an AVERAGE Survivor. (And against a good one, it will literally take all 5 gen's worth of time.)

As Killer, you are given various lose/lose decisions until the bitter end. You can stop chasing (since a chase should clear all 5 gens) to start monitoring gens, but now you're not CHASING, which means you're not hitting Survivors, which means you're not sacrificing Survivors - and that's your objective.

In short, you cannot move towards your objective, AND stop their objective, at the same time. Because you're 1 person.

BUT, they are 4 people. And they are 4 people that have been crying for 5 years about wanting to be as powerful as the Killer, and so now they are. And that's why chases take 5 gens' worth of time. Because Survivors have way too much power individually.

You chase 1, you got 3 others working towards their objective.

Survivors are the only team that can work towards their goal AND shut down the enemy's goal at the same time.

What part about this isn't an obvious losing formula for a video game?

You can't ask killers to put effort into learning a new killer, when survivors completely refused to do totems, back when Undying was still useful.

Just because you lose that doesnt mean the killer camped or tunneled.

there's no excuse for playing scummy because people don't need an excuse or any sort of permission to play scummy

For anyone that shares this sentiment with OP, please make an advanced Trickster and Twins guide on how to 4k without camping or slugging. I'd love to see.

Not being able to avoid the killer is no excuse blame a loss entirely on the killer's strategy. Once your caught it's on teammates to bail you out and the killer to make it difficult.

  • NoTerrorRadius

Don't let killers kill you. That's the answer. There's no right or wrong way to play. The killer is supposed to kill you. Teammates can come and rescue + create diversion. If they don't come save you, on to the next trial. Nothing you can do. No need to hold a grudge.

To NOT camp as Twins, you have to actively move both characters away from the hook. If you want a Twins to DECIDE to waste time with no profit, you need to do so as well when facing them.

OH MY FREAKING GOD! I GET IT NOW!

Thank you for showing me the way. Once I was blind but now I can see. Eyes shrouded in darkness now clear as a crystal lake, a paper heart hidden away now beats another beat in the cave some would call my chest. The chains that enraptured my very soul have been broken and lifted, my spirit lifts with them!

I am a man, a changed man, a good man.

If Twins down you, then hook you, most likely Victor downed you. For Victor to not be near the hook, the killer has to get Charlotte away from the hook to what you would deem as 'acceptable distance', then she has to swap to Victor, then move him away. That's a lot of time you're asking them to give up, especially for a killer who is either on a hyper offense, or hyper defence.

I mean..... playing red ranks and expecting to NOT get tunneled out of the game is kinda naive. Especially since 1) mods have stated multiple times neither tunelling NOR facecamping are considering against the rules 2) There's at least 3 godlike anti tunelling perks 3) You'll lose pretty much every single game you play as down -> hook -> down -> hook -> down -> hook. Like mathematically it takes longer to get 12 hooks then do 5 gens, considerably longer.

It's actually kinda dumb to rank as killer i need like at least 9 hooks, considerable time in chase, prevent as much healing as possible etc. Like i've had 3k games i've gotten a black pip on. When i play as survivor i do 2-3 gens, get 1 unhook and a prot hit, run the killer for 30-60 seconds and voila, rank up. Like i've interacted with the killer a grant total of 2 / 10-15 minutes and i can rank up.

Wait I'm confused. Are you talking about killers who camp and tunnel, then lose and blame it on the killer? Or are you complaining that you lost to a killer who was camping and tunnelling lmao. Because if they're winning with their strategy, why change it up? They want to play that way with that killer (and it's evidently working) and they will continue to do so because it's an effective strategy and they care about the win. They adapted to your playstyle, so now you adapt to theirs and slam gens (and run DS and BT) while they're camping and tunnelling and try to trade hooks before they're about to die. Is it fun to play against? No, but that's none of their concern.

How about this for an excuse:

I camp/tunnel regardless of what killer I'm using because I determine it's the most effective thing to do at the time to either secure a victory or try to take back control of the match.

I don't have to give any excuse for my gameplay decisions, just like survivors don't have to do it either.
