So what's the point of Hillbilly?
Like we have so many killers who do his job better and faster... I never see him in games and when I play him it's an easy escape. He truly did go from top to bottom real quick. So you guys having the same experience or is it just me? And if you are how should the devs fix him?

he used to be top tier, but now he’s old hat. Wish he was dangerous to play against. Some guys on this forum say he’s still really good, but we all know that the really good killers are the ones that get played the most. Except trapper, he doesn’t count.

He used to be fun, balanced, and strong but since his rework unless your already extremely good with him there's no point in trying to get good as Billy. Your better off playing Blight or Oni since they're not only much more stronger but ten times more fun to play as.

Billy has been relegated to being just a new player pick until they get frustrated with him, quit, and go play/buy another killer. You might have the rare occurance where you find the ex Billy main who plays a match for nostalgia or the random dude who has no idea how to play him that's doing a daily but that's about it.
He's been directly outclassed by Bubba who is an easy mode version of him, Oni and Blight which with the flicks is pretty much a better Crack Billy. On top of all the nerfs they also bugged his animations and the chainsaw hitbox feels buttery and inconsistent.

It would be nice if LoPro Chains and Dad's Boots become base kit. And most important of all Overheat mechanic only activates on proximity of hooked survivors.

Nerfing Billy was probably one of the worst balance decisions we've ever seen. The only "OP" thing about Old Billy was Insta-Saw and maybe some other add-on combinations, but even that can be debatable.
His nerf must be reverted. It is the right, and logical, thing to do.

I still play a lot of billy. He does well in soloq, so does every other killer (even at rank1, most survivor teams are not good). He has his mobility and potential oneshot if you catch a survivor in a deadzone. His chainsaw is also good for zoning pallets and you can still curve on some tiles (i usually run doom engravings and boots).
His problem is he is no spirit or nurse. A really good team stomps me when i play him (i get like 3 hooks and 1 kill if i camp the last guy). Against good survivor, you have to m1 them and cant use your power for something other than zoning pallets during chase.
I agree that the chainsaw hitbox is sometimes very weird.
I think they did a very good job with the bubba and wraith rework. They are now powerful killer (still no chance against 4 good survivor) that are fun to play as and against. I would like to see billy get some slight adjustment (like removing the overheat mecanic and maybe make some more usefull addons for curving for him)

He's sadly outclassed by Oni, Blight, and even Bubba.
However, if they remove overheat or rework it, I can see Billy being considered A-tier again. In fact, I'd put him above Bubba if overheat gets removed, add-ons reworked, and animations reverted.

He's still strong but not as strong anymore. Still a solid higher tier killer but you got Oni and Blight who more or less do his job better.

I've started to play a lot more Hillbilly recently because I wanted to see truly if he's been gutted. And honestly... its not as bad as people make it out to be, I think it really shows how many people relied on add ons back then.
He still has amazing map pressure and can still curve making him pretty threatening while in chase, overheat is also not much of an issue since if you get fast downs your chainsaw will stay relatively cool, sure the collision on some objects can be a bit wonky but its always been like that, its all about learning what you can get away with which was always the case with Billy. The only thing they TRULY got rid of, is Space Billy. Other than that, he's still regular ol' Hillbilly with a small handicap

After the billy nerf i played against a sky billy once (legacy with 4k+ hours) as survivor. He flew across the map and showed me some amazing ramps and curves, best onei have ever experienced, but even this hillbilly god couldnt down me with m2 (because i play a lot of billy myself, i know his limitations) and had to eventually resort to m1 me.

Funny that i watched a Billy match of him out of curiosity of his last stream, and he was using Engravings + the yellow overheat add-on, so yeah, obviously the overheat is gonna be less of a problem since you're literally sacrificing a slot to compensate for it.
Also, not to say he's bad but he could have easily lost if the survivors were just better, so no, you're not really proving a point. Billy is the hardest killer for comparatively the lowest reward now, it has nothing to do with wanting it easy.

He's still fun if you have lanes or room to maneuver his chainsaw dash. His speed at getting to gens makes him good at map pressure. He can also run around revving but not committing to the dash which, when mixed with the actual dash, can keep players guessing.
It's hard to take a character that began the game half a decade ago and make him as effective as newer, more complicated characters without arbitrarily making that character more cheap (Wraith).

Most Billys I know don't really tunnel or camp, they're just trying to relive what they put thousands of hours into. So good survivors will escape at a decent rate, like they always have against billys. Or they are new to the game, can't use his saw and everyone gets out anyways.
To me, he is still the funnest killer in the game, with a great return on the amount of time you put into him. The bugs he faces are incredibly frustrating ex. pallet invincibility, window hit detection, general hit detection etc, but getting a sick curve feels so rewarding. More so than getting a hit with oni or blight to me at least. He is also heavily reliant on mindgames which are part of what makes this game so fun.
Thankfully the actual curving mechanic has not changed in a long time. Nothing in the game will compare to getting a flick with Billy, blight has auto aim, oni has no collision, nurse is easy. The risk and reward is so high it makes gameplay exciting, you can hit that curve you spent 10 seconds mindgaming and zoning the survivor into or they can sidestep and throw all that away and get to a new loop in your cooldown.
When I play games I like to feel accomplished, I care about the journey not the result. It would be easy to play nurse, avoid everything in the game and farm kills. But at the end of the day I want to feel like I worked for and truly deserved the kills I get, and with Billy I get that 100% of the time.

Billy actually takes skill now, and most players just go for the easiest route. It’s just how players are, if you give someone an easier and more powerful tool(Spirit, Deathslinger) they’ll use that.
While I think the overheat is dumb, his add ons needed a nerf. Instasaw, crack Billy, heck even primer bulb and spark plug weren’t stupidly good.
Everyone here saying he’s bad is just lazy, and takes the easiest path to victory. I understand that, but that doesn’t make Billy bad, he’s still a top 10 killer, he just takes time that people don’t want to put in anymore.

Yeah he's got a higher skill floor and lower ceiling now with the add on changes. A lot of the people who relied on his real strong addons stopped playing him.
He's still a strong killer but he takes so much more effort now.

It's called power creep and it exists in pretty much any continually updated game.
Billy more or less plays like he always did. Overheat was a very stupid addition but it can be almost entirely removed by a common offering.
The truth is that Billy is still very strong in good hands (I'd say curve billy is one of the hardest killers to learn in dbd), but 99.8% of Billy players were trash and relied on charge speed add ons. They couldn't adapt after the nerf and jump ship to easier killers that can give better results.

i see him very rarely but whenever i do it's usually an experienced one and they do good. I'm not an expert on Billy but before the nerf he always felt oppressive, i don't know if it was the add ons that most people used but i was never a big fan of him (i don't hated him but that combination of crazy map pressure and 1-hit chase power was a bit too strong imho).

Yer the reason he has a over heat was because low skill players would constantly abuse his saw revs 99% them when in a loop till there right on a person then insta down them now that players can no longer abuse this feature because if the overheat skill requirement has gone up so only truly good players that are willing to put the time into getting good use him well other then that the overheat was a balancing mechanic that bubba was with with as well just learn to use him better now

He went from the king of the world. Then suck like the Titanic with bad add-ons, hit box inconsistency, and messy animations, and also and issue were you're stuck in the pallet break animation. His new theme perfectly fits how angry we all were after the changes.

He is still very strong. I just replied in the other hillbilly neglected thread with much longer thoughts. He is not new pplayer friendly because it takes time and practice to get down his chainsaw tricks at top end and not miss and do 180s, but he has great mobility and can put major pressure out on gens. You have to play him like he is intended though.... and not be missing or be a M1 Milly or you will lose. I still very much enjoy him. he was top 3 killer for the entirety of dbd until his recent change and most people with a lot of time in the game still consider him middle-top tier as a killer. obviously as with most killers its map and perk dependent.... but he is not anywhere near as bad as you seem to think.
Nothing wrong with taking the strongest killers and making them middle to top tier and cycling what is meta .... I think this comes down to understanding of the game and how to play killer. If you have good map awareness and understand how to control the pace and pressure correctly you can play him with no addons and still do very well.

There are two Killers in the game that need an absolute rework: HillBilly and Nurse. Absolutely no one plays these two other than mega tryhard no life masters or absolute beginners who are just about to find out they should not play these Killers.

The only thing that needed a touchup were his charge add-ons. I do like the idea of the Heat mechanic tho.
But I hate that they also had to change his animations and all that.
I do like some of the new add-ons tho. It is pretty fun/scary to see/hear a silent Billy charging at you.

I love their logic on this too: "We like how billy performs, he is fun to play against, fun to play as, and he has good counterplay for survivors"

Personally I didn't like the overheat mechanic, it feels like it was poorly implemented. A while back I heard a guy on these forums say that instead of being a purely negative thing overheat should have some kind of reward, maybe like making his chainsaw go faster the closer it is to overheating. It would be pretty cool to see something like this as it would create a high risk high reward system.
Not all of his addons are bad, some are pretty fun or strong but some of them are really awful and deserve to get changed. His animations are awful though and need to get fixed.

But than again: Freddy got nerfed one week after his release, Rat Liver almost got nerfed, Twins got nerfed, Pig got nerfed multiple times, and this sad list goes on.
And this point, their flawed logic is hardly a surprise.

He's still a decent killer, but he's just that: decent. He was only decent before his rework without add-ons, he only became a top tier killer with add-ons, without them he was average and the nerf didn't change that. Honestly Bubba's best builds/add-ons are better than Billy's now (that's a lotta Bs).

Billy is still very strong. His weaknesses were always pallets. Just don't use the chainsaw at short loops unless you're already on top of someone. He still gets 1-shots effectively and he still has great map pressure due to his mobility. You just can't spam his chainsaw anymore.
