Okay, just to clarify: is early match slugging banable or not?
Now, I don't wanna hear any of that 'slugging is a legit tactic and sometimes necessary' stuff. This is about people who go and slug right from the start, leaving people to bleed out. maybe with the exception of the obsession for the extra points. and of course they'll go and knock down anyone with UB immediately.
Cause by all means that is holding the game hostage, which is banable iirc.

No, it's not bannable, and it's not holding the game hostage.
Holding the game hostage means the game cannot end. Slugging has a time limit of 4 minutes. Nearly every instance of actually holding the game hostage can only be done by survivors.

I have asked this exact question and all you get is it's a tactic BS and Killers can't hold game hostage because the game will end when you bleed out. Personally I think it needs to be made reportable the killer can end match instantly but is choosing to slow down game time and not do his objectives this I would say is holding a match hostage

As Orion says, this is not reportable - the game will end in a few minutes as the survivors will bleed out so it's not holding the game hostage.

Told ya same thing every time this is part the reason I'm not playing as much as I used to killers get away with too much and if a survivor even thinks about walking past the last gen they're holding games hostage NVM if the killer is camping the gens and only running after the survivors a small distance away. If we refuse to play to his rules we're in the wrong.
My advice find a new game to play while you wait out your DC or if you're on PC just open a new window and watch YouTube while they slug. Can't believe people think balance comes with perks honestly balance comes when killers can get reported for the same things survivors can.

Letting people bleed out is rude, childish and an attempt to grief the PLAYER rather than just score points. It is bad sportsmanship. It isn't, however, against the rules because:
- It does not hold the game hostage (as the Mods and others already pointed out).
- It is still the same game as far as you are concerned, i.e. don't get caught and pick people up.
- It would be impossible to police, because most slugging is not with this intention.
All in all, the defective person that does this is rare. Every once in awhile you run into the twit who picks you up, carries you over by the hatch, drops you and pretends to let you get it only to slam it on your face. You also get the ones that seem to be letting you crawl out but wait till the las second to pick you up. These things are contemptible because they aren't really done with any game goal in mind. It is, as I've already said, evidence of a seriously defective person, the kind that tortures small animals if given the chance. Fortunately they are few and far between.
Most people that slug are doing it for tactical reasons.

Really because I've been told it's not because the other survivors can do a gen while you bait the killer into another gen or just dying so someone gets hatch oh and it's survivors 3 gening themselves so it's not classed as taking game hostage because game can still end by keying out or one survivor dying. Just some of the things I've read on here.

Survivors will only be blamed if they actually refuse to do the last gen and just hide.
For example what I had a while back.
1 gen left and 2 survivors alive, how long do you think it took me to find them?
15 freaking minutes.
I went passed the gens and none of them were touched, went all around the map but they were nowhere to be found.
Turned out that they were hiding in lockers the entire time.
That is considered keeping the game hostage.
When a killer is "patrolling" the gens (not camping), means you guys messed up and didn't split up the gens.
If you keep 2 gens in a corner each then the killer can't do jack shite.
He has to cross the map to get from 1 gen to another, meaning 1 of the 2 survivors is gonna get a gen done.
And especially when there are more than 2 survivors left.
Even when 3 genned and 3 or 4 survivors left, he can't win because the gen will go anyway.
The repair is faster that the regression

I mean..... i've watched people crawl out and picked them up last second but in my case i'm counting to 60 in my head ;)
Also survivors can definetly hold the game hostage, dono about killer... maybe body blocking in the single person gen in Haddonfield / Badham. Had a couple dingbats climb on top of long rock outside the main building in Ormund and tried to stall out. Luckally was playing twins and could kinda clip em if i aimed right if i threw Victor off the balcony.

Eh, also depends alot on the killer. Twins are (in)famous for this but on the other hand the kit is kinda built for it. You can injure people, slug with Victor, park him near the slug go patrolling with charllote and if some unfortunate soul comes to pick the slug up, slug them too because killer instinct.
Same goes for killers like Oni / Myers. Wana get as much value outa that T3 as possible.

Slugging is annoying for survivors granted however has many have match will still end. One would hope that the other survivors will come and heal you.
As a killer I personally won't leave them on the ground without a reason. Such as if I see another survivor. Like this morning I had one on the hook and deadly wounded another one that was immediately trying to get them off the hook and went after a third that was also right there. (Got to love SWF right? I love the Starstruck perk.) I didn't leave the second one on the ground very long. Didn't take long to deadly wound the third. Hooked that one then came back and hooked the second one.

nope, its fully allowed, fun right? imagine if all killers just stared using this fully allowed tactic, never hook anyone, just down them and down them and leave them to bleed out....this game would die in a heartbeat if it wasnt for the good will of the players.

And it's because of garbage like this that, we will never have a huge player base.
Who wants to wait in a ten minute que just to get slugged, then wait another five minutes for the game to end, so you can wait through another ten minute que...
I just wasted 25 minutes doing nothing... fun game!
But if I DC to save myself the time, I get punished with the five minute lockout anyway, great call BHVR.

I honestly don't know. I've had Killers slug straight out the gate and leave us on the ground to troll people. I don't understand it. They would get more points by just hooking people. Or they follow you crawling to hatch, to close it in your face.

Obviously it's "fun" for trolls because it annoys you, but I'm talking about normal people. As someone who's had to slug all four survivors who then crawled away and didn't let me hook them, believe me, it's no more fun for the killer than it is for survivors.

This does not count as holding the game hostage. Downed survivors will bleed out after 4 minutes, preventing the trial from lasting forever.

That's BS. First off, for everyone to get slugged before gens can get done means that team played horribly. If that happened every game, it would kill the game because the game you're talking about is much more unfair than actual DBD, where survivors have perks to get off the ground easily, chases can take a whole two gens, and the killer can only be in one place at a time (technically).

If you tried this against an even half decent team you would also lose 90% of your games so I think the game would die purely because if this is all people did they would just quit from never winning a match

Reading this forum makes me feel like I should play the lottery. 4k hours in this game and I can honestly say this has happened to me zero times. Yet others have it happen so much they have to make posts about it. I can't get over how lucky I am.

You should read the terms of service section on banable offenses. not ask the forums..... the devs have made many comments on this and it is CLEARLY stated in the terms of service. Lazy research usually gets you bad info.

if you slug all 4 and watch them all bleed out, that is. Read the ToS or dev comments on banable offenses. Survivors can also hold the game hostage.. if two are left and 3 gens up and they just hide... that is also holding the game hostage... refusing to progress towards goals.

No because as long as they've started gens then the game is progressing if the killer can't find someone that's on him but what OP is saying makes more sense why should killers be allowed to down all survivors have them all near each other and not hook each one to end the match quicker. If the match can end quicker than it is why shouldn't the killer be classed as taking game hostage or at very least it should fall under exploiting a game mechanic.

That's not what holding the game hostage means, though. It's not any time the killer or survivors are doing anything that doesn't help end the trial, it's when they're doing something (or not doing something) that will make the trial last indefinitely.

Games tell us a lot about people. How they play games is, in my experience, how they operate in person, their work, and their relationships. People who cheat a games, cheat elsewhere too. People who do sick crap in games just to troll people for kicks, well clearly that is how they get their kicks. So yeah, first impressions matter. We are judged by our actions and our ethics (or lack of them). People who play the game hard and do things to achieve game objectives are fine and dandy. People who go out of their way to torment the Player for no game purpose are demented losers.

Actually 4 man slugging and not hooking isn't holding the game hostage either. To figure it out, simply ask the following 3 questions.
- Is one side taking actions that prevent the other from ending the game?
- Is one side also refusing to take actions that will end the game?
- Is the game in a state where it will end without any further action from anyone?
If the answers to those questions are NOT Yes, Yes, No... then the game is NOT being held hostage. Having everyone on the floor bleeding out isn't holding the game hostage because of question #3. It is poor sportsmanship, but it isn't reportable.

Do you have documentation? I have interpreted dev responses to say do not play in the grey area as they have real people that make the determination and if you are doing this repeatedly, I am willing to wager it will be seen as holding the game hostage. I am not talking about single instances. If you do not have documentation, then you are simply guessing, as I am, at undefined statements in ToS. I would not walk that line, because not only could you be banned if they determine it is a pattern they dont like, but it is scummy play for all players involved and hurts the community. The latter is obviously an appeal to peoples better nature and sportsmanship.

worst case scenario though, you are out of there in 4 minutes. it sucks but they have their ToS as it is. it is an impossible task to ask them to go back and look at every match played and determine why people did things, which is why they ask for evidence.
If a killer wants to slug and let you all bleed out.... that killer will be in low ranks and as you rise you will avoid people like that
Killer mains with lots of time in the game do not behave like that. we want to see the community grow and challenge. I slug if need be, being that I am sweating for some reason or bc I want to and the game got away, but usually only one, aside from when people dive bomb the hook or are all around it. IF you stand near hooks or hide near them, then get downed then slugging will net them another down soon..... so dont do that. do the objectives, its 60 seconds per hook state.... you dont have to run to it. There are things you can do to discourage slugging. Part of that includes getting better at the game. I think you will see less of this when MMR is incorporated as well, unless you are on the low end of that spectrum.

The match is still progressing if a survivor is being slugged as it is progressing towards the killers objective which is to kill they are just choosing to go at a slower pace just a survivor who hides the whole game is choosing to play slower and more carefully.
