My friend wants to get into dbd but is scared of the grind
I recently had a friend who showed massive interest in playing dbd after talking a bit with him he was even more existed when we started discussing perks he was super happy and then I told him how to get perks and how bloodpoints work and his face just dropped. My friend is ok with grinding but he said it himself this is too much he plays himself plays grindy games but he said himself he cba to repeat the same match over and over again to get more bp and to get the best amount of bp playing as killer he needs bbq which he isnt willing to pay for.
What is the solution to this? My friend doesn't want to play dbd because the bp grind is too long and he can't do what he wants to do (Experiment with perk builds toying around with them etc) without having to grind his ass off with perks he doesnt like using like small game.
There should be some other way to unlock perks or some way you can unlock chosen perks so you arent stuck getting deja vu (yes it has its uses but generally no) 3 times on the blood web and then run out of bp.

You can test out perks in a Kyf lobby but otherwise you just have to grind

Not a whole lot you can do until BHVR does something about it
I suppose you could let them use your account to figure out what perks they like and then they can focus on getting those but playing the game is really their only option...
The closest thing to advice I suppose is get Bubba for BBQ and get WGLF for survivors to help ease the issue.

I don't think the devs understand how much of a deterrent the grind is for new players. And it's only going to get worse. The grind increases by roughly 26% each year! That means that in 4 years, the grind will have doubled. At this point, it's pretty much impossible to catch up. The devs need to do something about the grind. The best solution IMO is still simple: Cut the cost of all items in the bloodweb by 2000 points.

This is a common post but I, as a game grinder, am scared of the game without the grind.

Just pick one survivor with teachables you already like and work upon that.
experimenting with perks that you normally wouldn’t use is actually really fun and has shown me many uses that I didn’t think of or didn’t value high enough.
especially for the survivor side I don’t think the grind is too bad as they are all skins and you just need to unlock those perks that you actually want to have..

You should loan your friend $5.

I have 3 friends that are currently grinding but they do hate how much it takes. Personally ive completed the grind. (Until next chapter) but i didnt prestige anyone. Took me 4 years. Obviously i didn't come into the game doing the most optimum path though and i took breaks. And stuff like codes and the archives didnt exist back then.

Or. Just make you buy the tier 3 of a perk and only the tier 3 of a perk.

Only problem with that is some people like tier 1s of perks. For instance make your choice. I normally down the survivor in 20 seconds with wraith. But i gotta wait another 40 since the exposed duration is the cooldown. When i could just go tier 1 and wait 20.

I mean you could just make it where you can choose what level you want the perk after you buy it.. I buy myc, I decide what level myc is best at for the build

Honestly, all the good Survivors perks are on default characters so you don't need to spend tons.
Spine Chill, Dead Hard, Bond and Prove Thyself for example is a solid build from Rank 20 to Rank 1

I started my PC account last February. All killers P3. Twenty survivors P3.
The events, when they have them, massively reduced my grind. Last year I completed six prestiges during the COVID blood rush and five prestiges during the anniversary event.

Covid also allowed me to get a massive grind going but now we dont have covid reducing the amount of time people have to grind so I am happy that you got the grind done but my friend still is scared of it the devs need to add something. They are revamping the tutorial and all of that but not doing anything about the grind what is the point of making a new tutorial system when people are gonna get scared off by the ridiculous grind.

Ah unfortunately my job is a necessity so i didnt get off those 3 weeks so i was playing roughly 6 hours a day if lucky. Which i also play other games.

It's only a grind if you let it feel that way. If you have to have everything NOW - it will feel like a grind. The game is extremely playable with 1-2 character's perks as survivor and killer. If he doesn't want to pay to unlock Bubba - that isn't about not liking "the grind" - it's about not wanting to spend $5 on a game - completely different issue altogether.
My advice is to tell your friend to start now - that gives them a month to play and save up Iri shards - because starting July 1st there will be a new Shrine of Secrets every day for two weeks - with discounted perks (1500 iri instead of 2000). Then again if your friend just wants it all now and - and will continue to have that mindset - not sure this - or many games which have a "grind" is the game for them.

Before your friend starts playing you should let them know how much it will cost them this game has over 17 dlc to buy

What? A 600 million bp grind is scary?
No way.

I have to disagree. I’d understand being wary of the start but your friend would be starting at the perfect time right now. The anniversary event will be starting soon. With 120,000 bloodpoints a trial, that is the ultimate grind reduction.
They could easily top out multiple killers during it and then do like every other grinder and play their favorite killers/survivors to complete other ones during the time after the event.
As I said above, I P3’d five characters last year during this event. If I were to restart, I would pick four killers that have the specific teachables I would want and prestige them. Then I’d have those teachables on every new killer I picked up as well as have the already completed killers to fall back on.

This is a fair concern. at the moment I just don't care for the grind Im just playing to play

Tell him that it's okay and that he will be fine. That I see him and I hear him, that there's nothing to be afraid of.
Also tell him to get Leon Kennedy and to spam crouch on top of my morid corpse.
Now we're talking, and add a 20 % ( 60%) interest rate.

I´m honestly surprised that they haven´t mentioned anything about the grind during the new player experience talk, in the anniversary stream.
Can´t imagine anyone thinking: "oh great, i´ll just have to play 2000+ hours to get everything!"

If you're a true friend you'll tell him to stay away from this game.
Don't get me wrong, i love it but would i play it if i was starting now? No way in hell, UNLESS he has thousands of hours to spare.
Against my advice 2 of my friends got this game. Spoiler alert they don't play anymore. Wonder why?
1 -
Yeah then people would only play the game if they wanted to have fun... shudder
They're horribly out of touch

I enjoy messing around with friends in dbd I dont mind losing games to spirit as long as we had fun ik this is really rare but the one thing that does remove my and my friends fun is the grind. We can't do anything about it other than pray that the devs listen and bless us with something.

Oh i completely understand and worse case scenario... If he only plays survivor.... The grind will still be ungodly but a bit less than killer. Unless he chooses 1 or 2 killers to play and that's it, but what's the point of buying dbd to only play a couple of characters?
Wish you all the best of luck and fun in your games

Building towards something is fun. The grind is actually one of the differentiators between DBD and other failed versions of the game.

The grind is good because it means that you can work towards something but it has gotten to a point where it is just too much. I agree they should keep the grind but extending the grind over and over again is too much for newer players for veterans its fine ofc but newer players should have some sort of boost so that they arent stuck grinding thousands of games to get the perks they want.

Sure, building towards something is also addicting. But there's a difference between slowly unlocking everything and KOREAN MMORPG LEVELS OF GRINDING.

Your friend should just give it a try, regardless of the grind. I mean, the grind might be insane, but it never stopped any of us.

The grind is getting ridiculous.

I have made many postws about this. I think they should lower bloodweb items to 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000 and shrink the web. That would essentially make BP more than twice as valuable as they are now and cut down hundreds of hours to get all characters leveled up
