Is this Normal?

I recently started to learn and play killer, I mostly play spirit but like to try other killers. In my past few games I had encountered multitudes of red ranks even though I'm currently rank 10. I try to learn from those matches but they usually make me somewhat angry. I almost never see my own ranks in match when I play killer I only see around 2 red ranks and the other 2 low purple.

I was just wondering is this how matchmaking is normally or is it just some hiccup in the system. I want to learn how to play killer properly but I'm having a hard time playing against people who have twice my game skill.

I don't think the MMR is gonna change ever. So yeah, that's the new norm. If you want, wait for the rank reset so you can get people of lower skill level.

This is very normal unfortunately. However the first one was 100% a smurfing SWF. When matchmaking is bad, you get more variety in ranks than that. They put a lower rank in their lobby to get matched with a lower rank killer.

I disagree, especially since ranks do not relate to player skill and you can grind red ranks by gens/hiding and dive bombing hooks, fairly easily. MMR may help, but it will encourage de-ranking if it is a full mmr system due to wait times, making an even larger problem of afking and toxic gameplay. the game is supposed t obe casual. ranks dont matter. anyone that has played the game for any extended period of time knows the disparity in skill level amongst red ranks.

The real issue is that you just need time in. I have thousands of escapes and thousands of 4ks.... sometimes I get rank 10s. This is more of an issue with perception. someone like me that has thousands of hours, probably shouldnt be with players that have a couple hundred.

Just remember it is casual. the ranks dont actually mean anything and the pip system itself is aimed at discouraging camping and what not.

Have fun and do your best, also, get some perks before you play killer if you are new. Even experienced killers can struggle wihtout perks.

Also depending on what time you play, there may be a ton of survivors on and not a ton of killers so you get matched with ranbow ranks. as you play more you will learn to tell. They are also taking steps to help diversify this.

Smurfing SWFs are super lame. I played against a rank 19 meg last night with <20 hours of gameplay who was by far the best on the team + three rank 2-3 teammates. I'm guessing Meg was really a rank 1 trying to prey on low ranked killers and carry his friends to rank 1 with a fake account. I usually try to punish these teams if I can via tunneling or slugging and letting them all bleed out.

Sadly this is normal, if you're new and want fairer matches I'd suggest deranking to at least get players nearer to your level.

Same. People like that are the only ones I will facecamp from the get-go.

Congrats on obtaining rank 10 killer. You have now arrived in red rank hell. Enjoy your stay.

Not really. That rank 10 survivor shouldn't be there.

Nothing, the usual. Since the game was created. It is a feature that the developers have lovingly put ^^

Pretty much normal yeah. The devs haven't figured out how to do match making. It's only been like 5 years...

Indeed, it should fix it but we know it probably won't. That is why I've said to not keep hopes up.

I'm surprised that you didn't encounter this earlier. Like much earlier. We had rank 17 killers getting matched against rank 1 survivors.

Surprisingly, this is very normal matchmaking in this game.

In the evening this is normal during the day the matchmaking is a bit better if you want to learn killer. Honestly the queue time are longer for survivor during the evening but its so worth it you can take it it easy and have fun for killer they have that but during the day only

The game is entirely csual though so I think they should do away with ranks since they dont mean anything and the matchmaking is horrible. They are working to improve matchmaking based on some sort of MMR system that has been undefined. I can tell you that it made queue times STUPID long (ten minutes +) when they did that one day release, so I am sure they are either rethinking or making a new system.

I actually think a very accurate MMR system would be horrible, it would require killers to play more meta killers. and matches would be a lot sweatier and ruin a lot of the fun. I have almost 4k hours in the game. I am fairly decent at killer, but I can tell you that I enjoy knowing I can play almost any killer and wont get completely stomped if I play a killer that has less leathality or pressure and it allows me to have more fun builds.

Ideally, to me, the MMR would be a mixture of win rate overall and win rate vs players with high win rates and also win rate vs players with high hours (500-1500) then win rate vs players with 2000-5000 and finally win rate vs killers with 5000+ hours. It should also apply to both sides at that point, as it is an indication of overall skill and parsing time played as survivor vs time played as killer is also inaccurate if someone plays 90% killer .... and has 4000 hours but 500 hours on killer.... they are also going to be better than most survivors that have 500ish hours, in most cases.

map knowledge, perk identifying, and game sense play the largest part in being "good" at either role.

I'm rank 12 and only seem to get mid to low purples with the occasional red 😅
