The Hag is a major ouch.
Going against a good Hag makes me reconsider if I really hate going against Spirit the most.
First guy to go down goes in the basement. They're already dead, they're just not lucky enough to speed it up by attempting escape. We all know he's dead. There's 15 traps all over the area and they're never getting out. The poor dude waits the full 120 seconds, and by the time the Hag picks someone else up I get to watch the hooked guy exit the game via spider legs from the bottom of the stairs.
I try to get out, but I trigger trap #16 and immediately go down after the second dude gets hooked.
Last guy triggers what must have been a very easy to notice trap on the Swamp in the grass and goes down instantly.
No one left with more than 10k bloodpoints.
I love Hag.

I despise Hag.
I have seething hatred for her.
She needs changes.

The embodiment of camping has always been agony to go against. It is just lucky that most people find her equally painful and boring to play.
Just place traps and tap away at your ability button for profit. Survivors can't do squat about your traps.
Also watch out for anyone using the word "territorial" to describe a killers playstyle. they are usually hag players and can't bring themselves to say camp.

I’m not gonna try to change anyone’s mind about Hag because I know a lot of people find her unenjoyable, but one thing I will say is that her traps can be destroyed by any survivor, even without a flashlight. So if you’re someone who’s interested in learning how to play against Hag, there is stuff you can do.
The radius of the trap is larger than her lunge distance out of teleport, so if you see a trap (which is much easier on the reworked maps because the ground is much lighter, and also pretty easy on indoor maps, but less realistic on maps like the swamp maps), you can inch towards it with your camera facing the trap. As soon as you trigger it (and since you’re facing it your camera won’t swing), immediately sprint away. Even if the Hag teleports instantly she’ll miss her swing, and whether she swings or not she’s slowed out of teleport so you can usually make enough distance to get to some kind of structure.
Do this every time you notice a trap, or even go looking for them in key areas you suspect she’s trapped if you want to be a real pain in her ass. It’s like playing against Trapper, you have to look at the ground as you move around the map. You have to mess with her traps as much as possible. The more traps she sets up the stronger she is and the more of them you can destroy, the bigger the chance you buy your team.
Not much you can do against a camping Hag that sets tons of traps around a hook though. But I’m all in favour of the devs nerfing that aspect of her power, it’s pretty cheesy.

I feel like latency and I are going to have a minor disagreement on that one if I try it. I'll give it a shot next time i'm unlucky, though.
And yeah, that's probably the biggest part I hate about the Hag-- the camp. 15 traps around a hook is just standard business-- the guy can expect to go to second stage, if he ever gets off at all. And if they're in the basement? Forget about it.
The Hag gets to win and facecamp better than almost anyone else at the same time.

So i made a post about how hag should be changed and got alot of backlash for almost no reason. One: the traps should have the faint glow from the killer pov to the surv pov so that you can actually see them. Two: have a second long delay when teleporting and attacking so that its possible to not instantly die to a scroll wheel hag.
3 -
Don't forget about Rusty Shackles and Mint Rag, god I hate those add-ons with a burning passion.
Playing against Hag is an absolute snorefest. Watch as she walks around you while you're hooked and places 10 traps up your ass. Even if they don't camp they're still annoying as hell to play against.
1 -
Honestly, I do this all the time against the (few) Hags I play against and I’ve never suffered any issues with latency so hopefully that shouldn’t be an issue. You’re already moving away before she can even start the teleport animation. I should record a video of it next time I play against Hag to show how it works because it’s easier to show than to try to explain.
I think people’s suggestions that Hag traps around the hook dissolve like PH’s trails are good and the devs should look into implementing it. Non-camping Hags won’t care, and it will remove a frustrating part of the game. Unfortunately they seem kind of slow to address these sorts of cheesy camping strats.

I have tried this and i still got hit because i have sub 20 ping and killers are usually 60+. I literally get hit without even seeing the killer do the swing animation the servers are that low tier.
2 -
I'm glad you are now learning why I have hated Hag for soooooo long lol
1 -
I know this isn't important but: Hag has only 10 traps. I know you used the numbers 15 and 16 to over exaggerate, but I feel obligated to correct it for some reason.
Secondly, if someone is on basement hook I rarely ever place more than 2 traps. I usually place only one trap that is extremely hard to destroy in the basement corner leading to the stairs. I'll place a second one in front of the survivor only if they have a key to secure that I'll get at least a trade. Against a basement hag there are two ways of saving someone. The least punishable way is to crouch all the way in and out and in case she's close the healthy survivor should sprint into the trap. The safer way but the most punishable is to wait for her to pick up a survivor. If she does she can't tp into the basement traps so you can rush and get em out. But I agree that this needs to change, but other than that, I don't understand why so many people hate Hag.
5 -
[INSERT KILLER NAME HERE] Beats me because I refuse to adapt, therefore they must be nerfed.
18 -
Adding to what @xenotimebong said another useful thing for when the hag traps one side of a safeish dropped pallet and circles round to you is just vault and don't move otherwise, it won't trigger and she'll have to break the pallet, at which point you can run through it. Also go for a quick jog through any known traps as soon as she picks up a downed survivor.
As for the basement...I'd just stay away from it. Fun and interactive counterplay right there I know.

I agree completely with traps in a relatively close range to hooks. As I said a few months ago the perfect change would be that traps get destroyed after a rescue (x m around hook)
I think it is part of Hag's kit that you have to slowly rescue but for that you should be rewarded with being able to sprint away after that.
In any other aspect hag is 100% fine. I think the hag isnt the Problem, it is the people that play hag in a completely wrong way and also the people that refuse to play in a different way to counter her. If survs would apply the different playstyle vs her they all would have massive fun vs her
7 -
I wonder why these add-ons have not been changed yet. The only way to counter them is to basically know where every single trap is since running into one will be a free hit.
Using this add-on combo feels like a guaranteed win. The shackles should be made iridescent.
3 -
I like to think of myself as an okay-is hag player but yeah she needs something to stop the camp. She's a better facecamper than Bubba bevause she's able to pressure the rest of the map while also camping a survivor. It's pretty stupid
2 -
Everyone's so busy talking about how much spirit and deathslinger suck that they forget about the living embodiment of pain that is hagitha.
This forum needs more hag hate threads.
3 -
What should happen is after an unhook every trap with in so and so meters are erased. Rewards the survivor for doing the unhook and has the Hag need to get place traps away from basement. And as some comments have been made yes Mint Rag, Rusty Shackles should be changed. As well Water Logged Shoe and the other purples need buffs.
1 -
So you just want to absolutely destroy hag... totally fair and reasonable...
/s
2 -
Yeah, take a Spirit game over a hag game any day
4 -
The only convincing argument I’ve seen for changes to Hag is to make her unable to trap right next to a hook, but even then the radius would have to be smaller than that of the Twins or else it would render many important trap locations useless and would nerf her in areas that don’t need adjusting.
1 -
Only because she is so rare to face. Just look at wraith. The more people play him the more people complain about him on the forum.
3 -
kindred.
while no surefire way, it has saved my teammates (if they knew how to use it and didn't just run in to get back to genrushing) often enough.
know where hag is, crouch into the basement crouch out. also a lot of people don't know you can crouch directly after getting unhooked.
0 -
You and me both.
2 -
Hag is fine. Bad survivors will always complain.
6 -
I like going against hag.
4 -
Exactly, 100%. And this is the sole reason why she has not been changed yet, not many people complain about her, because she is rarely played.
And it is just her playstyle which lets players step away from her, it is just so boring because you cannot chase with her. Either you have a Trap at some Loop and you get a Hit/Down, or you dont have a Trap and get looped into Oblivion (or, to be more precise - dont get to go into a Chase, because it is pointless to chase with Hag).
Also quite a bunch of Streamers really dont like to play her because of her boring playstyle.
1 -
Hag gets the hate cuz Hag doesn't get looped.
2 -
Hag cuts out the most fun part of the game in exchange for winning.
0 -
Well I don't camp with her and I call her territorial
0 -
Or you just destroy her traps when she already injured one, making her chose between a new injure or a down, or when she picks up someone.
3 -
This.
The only reason nobody complains about her is because she's played so rarely.
If Hag became popular I'm not sure I'd even play DBD anymore lol
0 -
I mean hag keeps the pressure up sure but she in no way is unbeatable. if she has 4+ traps around a hook. Crouch while the hooked survivor also is holding crouch. I have borrowed time and if we set off a trap the survivor can take a hit while we scatter. Ive even been unhooked and let my unhooker bolt while i set off the traps take a hit and get away. A lot of the killers people complain about i do fairly well against. Other then wraith/ghostface because i get impatient. I haven't taken the time to study ways to survive and practice them. Im not going to make posts calling for reworks. Id rather learn, adapt, grow them make something "easier" for myself.
2 -
just because you don't like the playstyle of a character, doesn't mean that the playstyle is boring. you just don't enjoy it.
7 -
Chases are the most fun. Hag cannot chase. So she is not fun.
1 -
Hag can chase she just sucks at it.
0 -
arbitrary rules are arbitrary.
I can make a sentence like that too and have any result I want.
but even by your logic, the conclusion is wrong.
If chases are the most fun, it implies that there are other ways of "getting" fun. Otherwise it would be the "only" fun, or something like that.
So if a killer can't chase, they will miss out on that fun aspect, but can still derive fun from some other source(s). therefore concluding anyone is not fun from just this, is just wrong.
Also, hag chases all the time. How do yo think she gets people to activate her traps?
Hag chases people in a way where they will potentially activate another trap during their escape. Hag can "force" opponents into her traps and create a unique mindgame of if she will or won't teleport.
This mindgame only happens with hag, and only happens in chase. so not only does she chase, she creates unique scenarios when she does. and since "chases are the most fun", she must be a lot of fun, since she does chase and does it with a unique mindgame.
5 -
Same.
If I suddenly started seeing Hag as often as Spirit, Freddy, Blight, and Huntress, I probably would never play survivor ever again.
Which means I wouldn’t be playing DBD anywhere near as often because sometimes I’m just not in the mood to play Killer.
3 -
Hag, Spirit, and Legion are my least favorite killers
Is Legion or Hag the best killer in the game compared to Spirit? No.
Are all of them extremely unhealthy for the game? Yes, absolutely.
2 -
Not only is she an ouch, but she's an oof that necessitates a spray of neosporin.
3 -
Ah, #########. Here we go again.
Luckily, Hag is Macote's favourite killer, so she's unlikely to get nerfed.
0 -
Each killer is designed to be appealing to a specific group of people. So is hag. I know thousands of people that heavily enjoy hag.
Each and every killer is loved and hated by many people.
And for me personally chases are one of the most unfun aspects of the game. I rather win by playing smart and tactical rather than running after survs. Hag is just amazing because she offers a whole different and refreshing experience
4 -
True, but honestly hag being rare is an absolute blessing. Cross your fingers it stays that way.
1 -
Yup, 100%. Trapper also does this and is why I despise playing against them both.
Basement vs hag or trapper and you might as well #########
0 -
A good hag only needs one or two traps around basement. You can usually judge how good a hag is by how many traps they place around the hook. If it's 5, you know they're probably not very good. If it's one: Watch out! They're probably solid or better. There are exceptions (some inexperienced hags also know you don't need 10 traps around a hook)
0 -
A lot of good hags I play against use macros and teleport literally instantly on top of you after triggering their traps. In my opinion there should be a delay to make such abuse impossible. 1 second would be too much, but maybe 0.5 or even 0.3 seconds which is more of a normal human reaction.
Other than that I don't have any issues with Hag. Lisa is absolutely unfun to play against and I hate her, but her traps have some counterplay if you crouch and use flashlights.
Basement is usually a death sentence, of course. But smart survivors should be aware of basement's location and the killer they face. If you have some experience in this game you just know you don't wanna get down close to a basement against a Bubba, Hag or even trapper with 10 traps around the shack above the basement.
2 -
I usually put one at the top of the stairs of the basement and that's the only time I trap hooks.
0 -
So what that she has less chases? Just wait until you face any of the other 20 killers and problem solved.
Oh wait, at least 2 more new killers are coming in this new dbd year, what if they don't have chases? I would start worrying from now
1 -
No, just make her more reasonable to play against
0 -
She only massacres bad players, but she's not inherently different than the Trapper or Leatherface if she wants to camp.
Otherwise, one good player just runs around behind her popping all of her traps, and so she can never get the game "started" because she's slower and easily looped. If she stops to drop a trap, and you're injured and can't risk a bait, just run away to another loop, and see if she follows.
She's such an easily griefed killer it's not even funny.
0 -
That requires some coordination seldom seen in solos.
