Vs. bad survivors I agree he doesn’t really take skill to play, but vs. good survivors he definitely does. That’s not me trying to have a dog at ya, it’s just how he is designed.

There's an arguament to be made that killers like Wraith don't take any more skill than basic red stain mindgames but thats more on the limits of the killers power and less on the player.

    That said this ain't it.

Outside of his cloaking he has nothing going for him, just a hold W killer in chases, so why assume he will chase you for more than 10 seconds?

Especially when he has many perks that compliment the surprise attack aspect of him, like Make your choice, Dragon's Grip, BBQ , Sloppy, Nurses ect.

This is why most Wraiths play the (admittedly kinda boring) hit and run playstyles with long heals.

Wraith's gimmick is that he's a ambush killer, not a chaster killer. Committing to a chase against a good player in a place with lots of pallets is a death sentence for Wraith.

After reading your comments, i might take it back wraith does require skill. Not like huntress or nurse for example, if i get downed by wraith i don't feel like i've been outplayed, on the other hand if huntress hits me with her hatchets i do feel like i've been outplayed. I feel like wraith is not mechanically challenging to play as. Obviously he has his lunge which do require some skill if you master it.

I do still think that wraith is super boring to play against. I also think that wraith is a lot more easier to play than most of the killers.

Wraith seems good until you get the Game, Badham, Haddonfield or any good survivor map. And he's gonna struggle.

  • S0nny

That might also be my problem, because whenever its a wraith he takes map offering to hawkins or lerys.

On an indoor map Wraith will wreck you but that goes with any stealth on an indoor map. But once you get to some open maps with insane loops Wraith is much weaker.

Wraith wasn’t popular before due to being dependent on windstorm outside of meme builds. This usually meant he only had 1 addon slot open so there wasn’t really much you could do in terms of exciting new combos.

    Takes more skill than spirit

People may be referring to the lunge bug. There was a problem for a few weeks after the windstorm buff that made the uncloak speed boost slower to build up so the lunge was trash for awhile. It was after the bug patch that it got fixed and also is when these wraith complaints started. If you need proof I can find a thread where Mandy confirmed the bug existed

Not really. I see far more spirits with apparently bad headphones who really struggle to hit and to down survivors while phasing and thus ending with 1 or 0 kills only.

On the other side I never see a wraith with 0 kills. Even good red rank solo Qs are often nailed to an indecisive draw / 2 k as the best result.

Most wraith 3 or 4 k against average players.

I mean the long lunge that was put in when he was buffed and myself and some content creators thought was a bug but still made it into the live version.

They are talking about Wraith having a longer lunge then before.

    NOT a shorter one!

What I mean is in the recent bugfix update they fixed the lunging issue. So by fixing that bug his lunge got better so even though it was just fixing a problem to the people who didn’t know there was an issue it would look like a buff

I love how survivor mains want you to play stealth killer and then expect you to play him like regular chase killer like clown etc. Wraiths power is designed to sneak up on you and you are playing wraith wrong if you dedicated long time chasing a single survivor.

with 2k hours you cant loop wraith ? good red rank solo can give 0 kills to red rank wraith. this already happens many times on my games, lol u compare wraith with spirit and wraith win ? is that 2k hours even real ? someone with 2k hours would agree that spirit is far more stronger than that bing bong boy

  • Sweet_Potato
    Sweet_Potato Member Posts: 213

Spirit is only stronger when she has reached good skill ceiling (or has working headphones). There are a lot of garbage Spirits out there. Best example: I saw a rank 1 spirit DCing yesterday after 3 gens were finished with 0 downs. She just didn't manage to injure/down people quickly to get use of her pop goes the weasel and rage quit. On the lower skill level Wraith is stronger by far.

I can't understand how this simple issue can't be seen by people with some experience in this game. It was Freddy, not Spirit or Nurse who had the highest kill rate. Not because he was a better killer, but just because of the fact he was easy to play with a sub-zero skill ceiling.

You can only loop wraith on shack and maybe 2-3 other safe loop locations on the map. Other than that he will get free hits constantly almost everywhere.

I am not at 2000 hours but 2600 hours right now and I have mained Wraith (the old one) and Spirit in the past so I have valid understanding of both killers. Even with old Wraith I was able to 4 k most of my matches and only struggled with really good red rank teams.

Just use SB and no location is a dead zone.

At this point, my number one concern with this is that EVERY SINGLE wraith I've faced since I came back after the buff is screwing with the numbers. They are actively cheating the system by ALWAYS letting the last survivor go. It protects them from ranking up too much, it stops the devs from seeing that the wraith got over-buffed, and it is flat out cheating.

    Stop it.

Why a base game killer should be even remotely good is beyond me. They should suck. You should have to pay for the better killers. It is a business after all.

Yes, he is extremely easy. This is why when people who exclusively play Wraith/Spirit/Freddy/Cannibal play anyone else, they do very badly.

you should not have to pay for good killers. Why tf do you want this game to be pay-to-win.

  • kisfenkin
    kisfenkin Member Posts: 619

The game is pay to win already. You can grind to avoid it, but the fact is that most of the best perks are on paid killers. Wraith's overbuff was probably a mistake.

Play against a red rank wraith then

  • kisfenkin
    kisfenkin Member Posts: 619

Anyone that knows anything about this game knows that rank doesn't equal skill, but time invested playing the game the way it is meant to be played. The point is, the killers at red rank that I face every day are NOT looking for easy mode. They want a challenge. They have been picked on by four man swf every other game and they treat every match like around the next corner is a flashlight brigade. They aren't playing wraith. If they were playing wraith the way wraith is being played right now, they wouldn't stay in the red ranks.

The wraiths that I have played against in the past few weeks since my return, are all gold or green ranks. They are obviously forcing themselves not to rank up by simply exploiting the overbuffed wraith. Almost every match is a matter of downing and hooking as fast as is possible in dbd, then letting the last one go by carrying them to the hatch. This doesn't increase rank. In fact games like this keep you in gold ranks. Camping, tunneling, and killing everyone on the first hook you can doesn't give you the points to get to red. I'd estimate around 40 matches vs. wraith the past three weeks (out of at least 500 survivor matches). All of them went exactly the same. Even the TTV streamer that we faced was doing this.

My son and I returned to dbd on PS5 less than a month ago. He is already 85% done with re-doing the trophies. The only thing that transferred from ps4 was the three prestige related trophies. We would have finished the new rift before Tome 3 released, but we are saving the blood for RE. In other words we aren't playing a little here and there, when we play a game we like, we obliterate it.

Hopefully BHVR aren't being tricked by the people exploiting this.

i'm sorry to tell you that escaping and looping low skills wraith is far easier than spirit, its more true in red rank than another. with that 2.600 hours sure people will realize escaping bad spirit is far harder than that bing bong boy, simply because game of guess give you worst chance to escape than using pallet to that bing bong boy when you loop him.

there's so many times in my solo q 4 people escaped. wraith got buff on what he needed
