What happens to the MMR system? It pairs me up with incredibly "weak" people

In the last test they did with MMR, when I was playing Nurse or Spirit I was facing vs SWF or just people with more than 2k-3k hours, but now it literally faces me against people with 300-800 hours.

They have lost the old MMR data and are they recompiling the data?

I understand absolutely nothing of this system. It just seems like I'm still in a Ranks matchmaking.

I made 3 games so far with MMR:

Deathslinger-->I played him on and off the last weeks, I am not really good with him. Got a 4K, at some point it looked like the Survivors were too good for me, but I think they were slightly too weak in the end.

Nurse-->I am terrible as Nurse. I got quite good Matchmaking here, they were not really good, got a 2K in the end.

Billy-->My "ultimate" test, I am quite decent with Billy and played him a lot the last weeks because I am getting back to him and he needed all Perks again. I got Baby Survivors, like always when MMR-tests were out and I played Billy. The first test I got like 20 or 30 4Ks in a row with 12 Hooks (or as many as allowed until they DCed..), always against Baby Survivors.

And I fear this would be the case.

So I am not really sure if it is working or not, the Deathslinger- and Nurse-game were alright, but Billy was a mess.

Ye, what OP said, SOMETHING broke with MM, last 5 games in a row i've had like green and yellow ranks, hell i've had one red with 2 BROWN ranks.... i'm rank 1. I was playing Hag for a Tome wich i basically never play, i think they snuck MMR back.

But how were your survivor matches?

Mine were pretty chill. 3 and 4 man escapes in all 5 matches. Even got my Jeff achievement.

I only played Killer so far.

But again, Demo, which I probably main at this point (played him so much):

easy 4K, they had no chance at all. Rainbow-Ranks ofcourse, but even the hours dont match up:

I have 6000 hours, they had 104, 47 and 11 hours and the last profile was private. Hours are not everything and it will be impossible to make a working matchmaking which also calculates hours, but there is no possibility that someone with 11 hours can have a chance against someone with 6000 hours.

Killer is not really fun this way, there is no challenge.

EDIT: And this is not about Survivor or Killer. If you have this Survivor-experience it also shows that MMR is not working.

I played one match as The Spirit and it was pitiful. It was so bad that these survivors would run into a locker during a chase or run into a corner out in the middle of nowhere and crouch. I felt so bad because they were so clueless, and intended to let everyone escape but no one was doing anything. I even went AFK on the other side of the map in a corner and 5 minutes later one generator popped. So I ended up just killing three because I wanted to move on. The last survivor was in a locker with three crows on her head, I carried her to the hatch and she still ran away when she wiggled.

I just wish they had disabled the ability for our Rank to go up or down during the test. :)

Same experience as you OP, except on the Survivor side. The difference between the last test and this one is night and day.

But it can´t be both. It can´t provide easy killer matches, while also providing easy survivor matches.

Yeah my 4 man were expecting nurse/spirit every game. We got like 5 baby killers. 2 trappers a wraith a bubba and a doc that couldn't even land shocks. I honestly felt bad as they didn't even have close to the hours we had. I have the highest at 5.8k (going for 6 lol) we had to dial it back a lot. I don't think ill be playing swf this test. Killer wise my billys a lot stronger since i commited myself to getting back into him. But i wanted to try my high point which was spirit. All 3 games survivors barely got one or 2 gens done. So i think the roles have completly reversed. I went in expecting the best and ended up being overly strong.

Apparently it is possible, reading from other responses here in the Thread.

The one Survivor game I had so far was against a good Nurse, so this was alright.

I feel so bad, I’m a rank 1 survivor and just went against a rank 12 trapper with agitation, brutal strength, unnerving presence, and distressing

Sucks for these survivors and killers that are at bottom level since most of us with thousands of hours (at least me personally and some others ive seen) went in with the best addons and playstyle thinking we'd need to bring our best. Just for us to decimate these unlucky people.

    ?

    This isn't a binary killer/survivor issue.

Even just one-on-one, if a good killer gets matched with a bad survivor, then naturally good survivors are also likely to be being matched with bad killers? But the game is 4v1, so it's even easier for one or two good players to be matched with three to four bad ones.

First game in one player quit, 2 others somehow got slugged from full health on the same tile a by a no shock Doc. I ran him for near 5 minutes eventually snapping out and reviving one as I went down. Instead of them crawling to a pallet they crawled to a dead zone and instead of rezzing the other player meg ran in a straight line to her death.

I had one actually good game with decent teammates but we were against a Trapper so it was more or less a free win, that's just how it goes for Trapper though.

Then I had 3 players get slugged by a Clown, no joke, 60 seconds into the game. I just quit. I'm not sticking around for that.

I don't even want to play killer as all I got for a week the last MMR test was rank 15s that have no idea what they're doing and easy wins like that aren't fun at all.

Yeah, it is strange. Like, the Deathslinger- and Nurse-game were alright, especially the Nurse-game I got quite weak Survivors. But for Billy and Demo the Survivors were far worse.

Curious to see how it will be at the end of the test, but so far, it does not look like it is working. Which is a shame, considering they worked on it for so long. (And if it does not work now, questionable if they should put time into it... IMO the system based on Ranks is alright, the Rank Reset just needs to be bigger and it needs some finetuning so that Killers and Survivors dont rank up so easily).

You must have been paired with me. My evening has been a lovely run of pure red ranks teabagging, key running and gen rushing my level 14 backside into the mud lol 😆

So i have started playing a few games with my main killer, rank 1 billy. I only get complete beginner, best they have managed so far is finish 2 gens, most games have been 0 gens and 4k in a few minutes.

Why should i continue this nonsense, it is boring for me, i know that it is a horrible experience for the survivor i go against, maybe they will even quit dbd (most of them are new players). What is wrong with this mmr system.

Dont forget that hours for PS4 and PS5 are seperated (if you play on Playstation)

I mean, I cannot see the hours of Console-players anyway.

(And yes, hours might also not be a good way to check if MMR is working, but if I play against a non-Smurf with 11 hours, I can play basically every Killer without using their ability to win (except maybe Nurse))

I am experiencing the exact opposite. Both as survivor and as killer (mind you I don't even have all "meta" perks unlocked) I get matched with people who have full meta load outs and I then proceed to get curb stomped really hard. Granted my sample size is only 5 games each but as a killer I was struggling to even secure a 1k and as survivor (I'm solo if you're curious) we were never even able to get all gens done. I was excited for MMR but now I am kinda disappointed. Or maybe I should be honored because the game thinks I am this god at dbd to give me these matchups

Played one game of Demogorgon and accidentally demolished a bunch of rank 15s. I thought to myself 'yo, this is a great time to go for Adept Demogorgon'.

So I load up my Demo with just his three perks, thinking I'd be in for an easy time. I WAS WRONG. The second game started with me losing two gens (and soon after, a third) without even finding my first chase. Managed to get the Adept in the end but it was the sweatiest I've had to play in weeks.

I'm talking hardcore tunneling and slugging for hatch, two things I like to avoid.

The more games i play, the worse it gets for me( i 4k every game in a few minutes today). Now i get people with literally 0 hours in DBD (no idea what they do, no perks). The survivors i chat with in the postgame chat don't understand the world either and are frustrated...

It kinda went the way you describr when they tested mmr in the past. I remember endlessly getting brown ranks with my main killers. And I know matchmaking wasn't rank based, but brown ranks meant real beginners (few perks, not leveled up, often under 100h) matched against a rank 1 killer main with 1.5k hours iirc back then.

Then I played killers I hadn't touched in months and it gave me the sweatiest survivors.

Yes, this was my experience with the first MMR-Test as well. Trying Nurse? Full Rank 1-Team, 3 man SWF and a Solo. Playing Billy who I play a lot? Bill, 0,0 hours, probably his first game of DBD (like, really, he had 0,0 hours...).

And regarding Billy back then, I played so many games with him and tried everything - going for M1-only, Speed Limiter... but it did not get better, the 0,0-hour guy was around the end of the test.

And the worst thing for me is - you have to stomp those Survivors. The system should realize that you are in the wrong range and so you have to play as good as possible to get out of it into fair matches.

Tomorrow I'll test it more thoroughly as survivor. Let's see how it goes.
