Fed up with MMR
Hey all this is sort of a vent,
I'm typing this on my phone, the reason for which will become clear later, so I apologize for formatting issues.
I heard a lot of bad things about the newest MMR test, mostly about how it matched you with new players. I decided to try it out for myself, and subsequently, I ran Adept Wraith.
I did go up against new players, and they became extremely upset with me. I got invited to a party and they said, "If the matchmaker ######### us over we are going to ######### you over."
So they booted me offline. That was 6 hours ago. I have college courses that are due by midnight and I can't turn them in.
I have no idea what to do, but this is legitimately the only game I have EVER been booted from.
tldr; its been 6 hours since I got DDoS'd by some kids angry that they got stomped unfairly

you probably don't play wraith so the game is confused about your skill, they were extremely immature tho

Glad I keep my profile private and ignore all friend requests.

- never join party blindly
- that's not MMR fault could have happened with the old matchmaking

I think you will need a better story to tell to the professor why you didn't submit the homework.
Jokes aside... It is pretty crazy if they did this. What do you mean booted? Did you run or open some file they sent to you? How do you know you are ddos'd, if you turn off the network your computer works?
This is however not the MMR s fault.

Didn't have to join any parties. It's XResolver, which is basically an extortion site. It logs IP's so that people can DDoS them. But you can pay a fee to be blacklisted and have your IP hidden.
I haven't been in a full Rank 20 lobby before.

Xresolver.
Also because everything in my house is down atm

As I explained earlier, it isn't the party.
It's a third-party site that logs all Xbox IP's

Shouldnt you get a new IP when you restart your router/modem ?

I think I have to call them and ask them to change my IP.
Unfortunately, the website I mentioned logs IP's from Xbox's own servers, so changing it gives me maybe a 12 hour period of peace.

It can only log, when your IP gets updated. So dont log into your xbox for a day maybe. The ddos would need to actively run for you to loose connection right ? They will not let it run forever.

Thankfully, it only ran for about 7 hours. It's ended now.
Doesn't not logging into my Xbox (where I play DBD) nullify the whole point of changing my IP?

Normally modern systems should have a dynamic IP adress, meaning your public IP changes all the time. Also with every router restart it should assign a new one. So pull the plug and see if it changed anything.

If your IP changes, but xbox still has the old IP listed, than they would ddos the old IP adress, which isnt used anymore.

You probably could use some kind of program on your PC which would automatically assign a new IP adress every 5 minutes or something. But thats a little advanced, you would need to specify your xbox with its local IP adress.

Also if the process takes to long you would loose connection.

The thing is, maybe they will check in a certain time frame if you logged with a different IP but they will not sit there all the time and check it. So if they really hate you and let it run automatically for a long time, you only need to wait until they arent looking anymore until you log with a different IP.

But good god, if they would automatically check for IP changes on your account you would be screwed. Basically IP changes wouldnt help you anymore if they detect it and ddos the new one as soon as it changes.
Would mean, you sign into your xbox and your internet is gone.

Xbox needs to improve their security, a site that logs IP adresses like that shouldnt be possible.
They basically have a security breach.
