Is it me or this new matchmaking system is broken? It founds games so fast but... Ranks are totally random, i know the new mmr system based on your skill level, but its sooooooo inconsistant

I'm assuming you've gotta play a bit. As I eyed today I went from rainbow to something a bit more consistent. Still a bit wacky though

The MMR isn't a measure of skill either. It's just gen squads and super slugger players. It's honestly the most unfun experience I have ever had, no chill games at all, every match is <5min this is a great reminder of why this game is absolute dog ######### at the higher levels of play.

    How it should be.

How are the devs meant to balance the game using the muddied data that normal matchmaking gives them?

They need to get rid of pips now

Since MMR makes the ranks meaningless (As if it wasn't already)

You could have a Rank 1, 5, 10 and 15 in the same lobby vs a rank 16 killer because MMR, but the match should technically be balanced according to the MMR

Just adds to the confusion for no reason, either that or make the pip and emblems personal and give some sort of rewards for reaching a certain rank, as well as non viewable to anyone else.

They said a fee months ago that when the mmr sytems was working as intended the game wouldn't show ranks anymore.

Are you sure? I never saw or heard anthing like that, and they are supposed to be converting rank to monthly BP bonuses I thought?

Long queue times and the most sweat iv seen from survivors in months.

Haven't matched with anyone under Rank 1 yet and gens fly.

Horrible games in terms of balance but its as competitive as can be for me.

For me games take just as long but the matches have been absolute dog #########.

I Remember they said this on a stream but I don't know which one.

Oh I meant that the game won't show your rank to other players, you will still see it.

I just started playing like 2 days ago and the mar has put me against rank 1s and 2s...I’m rank 18 and my Wraith is only level 12. I get that it’s based on skill and I’ve played plenty of games with MMR, but this is a little ridiculous. I’m not that great of a player and I have super limited access to perks, eventually it’ll put me with the right people but right now it’s not fun or rewarding.

The test will be over in a couple days at least hang tough

I’m just going to wait until the test is over, I played another 2 games and ran into the same thing.

I wish for these tests they would revert everyone to rank 20 - people see rank and still associate with skill which is the exact opposite.

As killer I have had way more enjoyable games - no shut outs either way.

As a survivor I am having the same experience - gens getting done and 1-3 people escaping most matches.

I had a pretty mixed bag.

One some Killers I got good games. Yes there were rainbow ranks but the skill of everybody was matching just fine. One other Killers I got survivors who are much, much better than me, constantly and they just stomped me and on other Killers I only get new survivors and I stomp them with 5 gens left.

Now this could be because I played some of those Killers more than others. I have the most hours in Ghostface and can play him quiet fine and I only rescently started playing Myers as an example. Rank has nothing to do with skill as far as I can tell. There were Rank 1s who Dead Harded into a wall and Rank 15 who I needed to leave as otherwise I would have risked a 5 minute chase.

I will continue playing while the test lasts. It is a pretty mixed bag and funny to see who is "on my level".

I went from a couple games where I ran them over, to a game where I get ran over. Then repeat the cycle.

It's only a test for 48hr tho but still this is a down grade compared to the last one

The problem is that chill games only show a disparity in skill for both sides. Killer can only chill when survivor are useless and don't do gens efficient and vice versa.

And that is the problem. Those tests never run longer than a few days so the system.cant acclimate enough. But because half the dommunity goes into rage the company gets scared and resets everything back to the system where only 20% of the community aren't happy and it still is broken but the people adapted to it and accepted it.

I never understand this sentiment. Play any other pvp game with matchmaking and you will see the same problem. The biggest difference there is that those games either have a dedicated newby queue (rainbow six siege for example) or working pve bot game queues.

Playing normal games in any of them will result in stress and Frustration for new player but nobody expects that from dbd given they never made another queue beside rankeds (as stupid as that is).

This game should be long dead if it weren't for it's individuality in this genre.

Serious question. Are we really saying rank has no correlation to skill?

I see that comment a lot and it just does not ring true in my experience. By the end of a match, before the final screen, I know damn well what rank the players in that game were.

Yes maybe some small exceptions but overall, rank does equal skill IMO, and my experience.

We were 4 red ranks survivor against rank 15 Ghostface. It was obviously 4man escape.

As a fairly new player (I’ve only been playing casually about 2 months, 117 hours played), I got myself up to rank 5 fairly easily. But mmr I’m either matched against a killer who doesn’t get a hook an entire game or a rank 1 killer with 1000s of hours game play that 4ks within the first 2 minutes. Neither games I find fun or rewarding. Resulting in hardly any blood points for either type of game.

Not sure how it’s remotely fun for any killer either? Games lasting 2 minutes are boring, whilst generator simulator whilst a killer can’t hit or hook anyone is also boring for all involved. I don’t feel like I evolve my skills in either of those match ups either, neither would the killer.

How do you explain then that someone like me who is only playing casual, non meta killer, without perks but bbq for points and brown add-ons plus brown bp offering can sometimes stomp teams of purple or red ranks?

I played an evening 15 games and roughly won half of them and most of them were at least purple to red rank. Only one team of pure red ranks really stomped me with 2 hooks.

To explain the problem from my point I use league of legend or other games ranking system. In lol everyone with a basic understanding of the game can reach high silver or low gold elo just like red rank and partially rank 1 in dbd. It is simply a case of time invested each month after a certain point (people managed it within only a few months after getting the game).

The problem continues that there also are people with much more skill that would reach master or grandmaster in lol terms but dbd just ends at rank 1 and now that becomes a hotpot of everything skillwise from high silver up to grandmaster (6 elos with 3 of them further divided into 4 steps).

This takes any real meaning of the "achievement" of rank 1. Swf only further pushes this problem by boosting some people up there.

I actually like this system. Some of the games are going to be rough for some people as it is calibrating. Give it time Lots of other multiplayer games do this. My matches have been more fun, and I have gotten to experiment vs doing the same boring meta build.

I got outplayed very hard at the end of a game and someone found the hatch. Rather than the toxic tbaggery and flaming that I usually endure..this person said "that was fun gg killer and I was so scared and had fun. Thanks for the game" I told him well played and gl next one. I commended that person immediately. That was one of the nicest things I have heard in a long time playing this game. Made my day better.

At this point I think just normal ranked matches would be fine. Maybe make it easier to rank up as killer because I'm tired of every survivor match I have being a match against the dirtiest turbo sweatlord I ever met.
