Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

So why are we adding in mmr again?

With a game that is too rng dependant and with it being asymmetrical, what is the exact purpose of mmr being implemented. Don't get me wrong, the game's matchmaking is dogshit, but how will mmr fix it?

With enough data you can offset rng factors. And since MMR would replace normal matchmaking you'll eventually find yourself with an mmr score of where you should be. At least conceptually that is how it should work.

The funny thing about RNG is that your opponent is just as likely to be screwed by it as you are, making it irrelevant over a prolonged period of time.

Need a way to hide the bad mm and ranking. If you can't see it, you can't complain about how bad it is.

You don't need a number to understand if a trial was fair or unfair.

As if that part of the community would ever not complain about literally anything…

Except then you're talking subjective material. People could simply have a bad match. You're essentially just guessing then. While heavily flawed, the current system still at least gives a rough overall idea.

A huge problem with solo q and solo q balance is that at every possible skill range (new players at rank 20 or players with thousands of hours at rank 1) you get total potato survivors across the spectrum. This makes it impossible to talk balance or even extrapolate good data from statistics because what does a bad player even mean? Someone suiciding at the start of the game gets a -1 pip which in effect does literally nothing. You could see that exact same player pop up in your games over and over again even if you win a bunch.

MMR will hopefully punish these types of players significantly more as well as players who do not understand the game/do not play properly(e.g. Hide behind a rock the entire game/save at bad times/etc.). Once you have good players only playing against good players and bad players playing against bad, the state of the game's balance becomes much more apparent and actions can be taken to either nerf or buff certain things based on their impact at certain MMR ratings.
