Is the flashlight broken?
I mean I blinded the killer countless times in countless games recently when he’s picking up a survivor and with great timing but no save happened “even though he got blinded” so ######### is going on? Is it just me?

I actually played killer a few times these days and survivors actually blind me when I’m picking up a survivor but the survivor isn’t dropped lol

You are probably doing it way too early. They have to be fully blinded while they are carrying the survivor, not during the pickup animation.
There is a specific timing to it where you start blinding them during the near the end of the pickup animation so that they become fully blinded the moment the pickup animation ends.

Yea I know about that , the blind was timed perfectly in each time and it happened while I played as killer as well that’s why I’m so sure about that

Could it be somewhat of a connection issue? Because my ping is always 160+ .
But if it’s the connection then why does it happen while I’m playing as a killer too? Weird..

I was playing just a few hours ago and got a few flashlight saves, I assure you that flashlights are working fine.

Yea man I don’t mean they always do that. What I’m pointing out is that it’s been happening a lot of times recently around 35% of the time if I may say .. for me

I forget if it's something that was changed or not, but basically, animations take priority over a few different things, so flashlight blinds and pallet stuns when the killer is picking up survivor have to be done AFTER the animation is ended. As Gibberish was saying you're probably too early, wait for near the end of the animation so you get the timing down and can blind more consistently. Honestly, it's really stupid that it is the way it works (believe me I've had my share of blinds and pallet stuns not register) but that's just how it is.

Its not stupid at all that that's how it works, it's nessecary. One patch they made it so that blinds and pallet saves didnt require specific timing. It got reverted in just 4 days because it made the game unplayable for Killer and like 90% of the community yelled at BHVR for it.

There's a difference between stupid and redundant. It's not redundant because it is a safeguard for abuse like we saw in the update with early flashlight saves. That aside, it's stupid (or annoying if you wanna use that) because of how misleading it can be to players to see those blind points and nothing happens (which is why you get these few posts thinking there's a bug), and how finicky the damn thing can be to hit between the final i-frame window when they are locked in animation and can move freely sometimes. Same with pallets when you just barely throw it too early for it to count the save. Definitely takes practice and a decent bit of skill to master the save.

So i know the timing to get the save with flashlights, I get them pretty often but Ive had a couple occasions where I timed it perfectly, the killer finishes their animation and even moves and I get the blind but no save. Ive saved the clips and rewatched what happened and my timing was definitely on point so idk why this happens maybe someone knows.

One would've thought that after this many years since it's implementation they would've balanced it, just not the case unfortunately. So, yes, flashlights are broken OP in this game, and they always were, but devs don't have a clue about gamebalance, nor do they seem to actually care. Being able to blind the killer during pickup animation, is BEYOND BROKEN. Sure it makes sense from a logical perspective because they have the flashlight and can use it whenever they want to, but it's horribly broken when it can be used against their opponent that cannot avoid it during the pick up animation - there is no counter. Sure, can try to avoid it and minimize it's effectiveness, but that you can only do when you have control over the killers movement/camera.

You can blind killer too early and even tho he will get blinded, he will not drop survivor.
