Distortion buff or barbecue and chili nerf
i think distortion should have the ability to replenish tokens by doing something and if distortion buff bothers you then barbecue should be nerfed so that only each survivors first hook shows auras. Yes I understand bbq is easy to counter. I just think survivor perks like distortion and vigil (8 second exhaustion cooldown at level 3) need reworked to bring back some balance to the game.

BBQ is fine, bur Distortion could probably use a buff.

Okay.

Distortion definitely needs a buff. Most killers use BBQ just for BPs anyway, so they say.
6 -
Starting a new match replenishes 3 tokens. It also takes away 4 tokens from BBQ.
3 -
Distortion 👏 needs 👏 unlimited 👏 tokens. 👏
Many killers claim they do not use BBQ for its tracking so it shouldn't matter, the perk is useless as it stands right now. If BHVR wants to push the meta then having a perk that counteracts a perk that is in arguably 99% of killers builds makes sense to me.
7 -
If they make BBQ base-kit for killers without auras, i would be happy. And then i will not waste my one slot for points.
5 -
Yeah & nerf the pig too
3 -
Distortion should turn off aura reading forever? o.O
7 -
That would block more than BBQ.
9 -
Finally something we can all get behind!
3 -
Killer works for bbq and is an incentive to start a new chase.
Survivors have distortion to delay detection from a # of perks
The two do not equate or solely in direct opposition
1 -
Maybe we could remove BBQ's aura-reading ability, but change it to allow 50% BP per hook for a total of 200% extra instead of 25%/100%.
Any objections?
3 -
Distortion could always use more volume

I think a buff to Distortion would be pretty awesome. It would be nice to make other survivor perks more appealing, as that would hopefully add some variety to the survivor meta.
1 -
There's absolutely no reason to nerf Bbq. Distortion could definitely use a buff though. Give it some way to regain tokens.
2 -
R.I.P. Nurse's Calling, Bitter Murmur, Deerstalker, Hangman's, Retribution, I'm All Ears, and Territorial Imperative. All of these perks being dedicated to aura reading, worthless.
5 -
Yes. Doing this would massively increase camping rates as people would be deincentivised from leaving the hook. The current BBQ is fine, easily countered through lockers, proximity, faking one direction then going the other and hiding your aura behind a generator. Nerfing it is not something you want to do, and thankfully, BHVR seems to agree.

I'm not sure it needs to be unlimited, but for the sake of argument, if Iron Will and Calm Spirit can be unlimited, why can't Distortion?
0 -
Because that would shut off so many perks and add-ons.
3 -
Maybe we can keep the aura-reading ability and just buff the BP, too. I just want the BP.
2 -
Because Iron Will doesn't trump perks (which can in fact be negated by a few perks anyways) and Calm Spirit is a generally underpowered perk that counters a single killer's ability and only counters a few perks, such as Dragon's Grip and Deathbound, while being able to avoid Infectious.
1 -
Alternatively, drop the BP buff ability and just actually buff the amount of BP people get normally.
2 -
Nerf BBQ's BP? If they tried something like that... If thought this community was whiny before...

Calm spirit only stops the screaming. It doesn't prevent the effects like becoming Exposed from Dragon's Grip or gainning madness tiers from Doctor. And even then Doctor can use Restraint addons to gain an aura to counter Calm Spirit. Also I believe you can tell if a survivor touch the gen with Dragon's Grip by watching the timer on the perk as well.
The only thing Calm Spirit really hard counters is Infectious Fright, because making survivors scream is the only effect.

"buff the amount of BP people get normally"

By counter I meant it helps to prevent the killer from knowing who touched the generator.

I've been seeing a lot of people mention that name a lot. Who is "Sluzzy"?
0 -
A known forum troll who actively tried to bait people with Survivor-sided posts.
0 -
Ah I see. Will have to remember that name then.
0 -
It should have more tokens and if you’re next to another survivor it should block their auras too
0 -
I'm not sure about just being near other survivors, but it definitely should block both survivor's aura's if you are healing someone. And if both people are running distortion, the person healing will consume the token, and not the one being healed.
1 -
Sluzzy is a user on here who is an obvious heavy survivor main troll. Believes all killers and all killer actions are op and need to be nerfed, thinks survivors are underpowered and need heavy buffs, that sort of thing. Generally when someone says something outrageous/ridiculously one sided on here, people say "Is that you Sluzzy?" or "Sluzzy alt account?"
I can't blame them for thinking that. Every time I see a ridiculous discussion title I notice it's a Sluzzy post and just go "Oh, okay. Now it makes sense."

I wish when distortion activated, it showed you in the corner what perk it was and its tier.
E.g
Healing and distortion goes off...makes a sound notification and a green nurses calling icon pops up in the corner for the duration of the 10 seconds. This way it helps figure out what they acc have for players that may not be as experienced. And it's a cool idea. It don't do owt bad it just guarantees the player knows what perk they have instead of losing tokens and being unsure on why.
In terms of tokens. I think the first time an aura perk/addon reveals you. You dont lose a token, this makes it so you don't lose tokens unfairly because how are you supposed to know they have it unless you get exposed to it. However the next time the same perk/addon reveals you, you lose a token. This makes it so you don't lose tokens as fast as normal, because after 1/4 of the game you've ran out of tokens and the perk is rendered useless throughout.
So overall here's my idea on the reworked perk:
You start the trial with 1/2/3 tokens.
The first time a different perk/addon reveals your aura, the perk/addon is shown to you for 4 seconds
When your aura is revealed after the first time by same perk, you lose 1 token.
Got any questions about my idea, feel free to quote me! :)

Hmmm this could be kinda interesting. Despite being a SoloQ survivor 90% of the time, I' ve gotten pretty familiar with most aura reading perks (as I play both killer and survivor) so I generally don't need the game to tell me what perk it was that ate my token, (at least most of the time). However, I could see this being somewhat useful for newer players and/or other SoloQ players.
Wouldn't be too much different than how Technician is geared towards newer players getting the hang of skill checks, IMO.

The irritating thing about that is that the perk would no longer serve a purpose beyond bloodpoints. It'd be great bloodpoints, but it'd be a meme perk in and of itself.
Like, as a survivor, I typically don't use WGLF even though it gets bonus boints, because its effect in a match isn't worth a perk slot (and its bloodpoint bonus is less reliable, which doesn't help either.) I use BBQ because it provides a good function and nets me a sweet endgame bonus. I would rather see WGLF buffed than BBQ nerfed in this regard, but that's a bit besides the point.
When killers say they use BBQ for the bloodpoints... killers use BBQ because it's both bloodpoints and an info perk. If it was just an info perk, you would see many more people running different info perks - Discordance, Nurse's Calling, Thrilling Tremors, Bitter Murmur, etc. If it was just a bloodpoints perk, you would likely see less use of it overall, because it no longer fits into builds for players that are playing competitively even if most everyone wants bloodpoints.
I never really understood the problem with BBQ because it's so easy to tell when a killer has it and it's so counterable compared to other info perks; you always have warning before it triggers, so you can dodge it or fool it, or prepare for a chase by scoping your nearby exit points and watching the direction the killer's going to come from, or just hope the killer decides another player is a juicier target. Earlier today I got hatch specifically because the killer had BBQ; I made it look like I was parking myself on a mostly-finished gen, then bolted once the aura read was up. My scratchmarks/blood trails were gone before the killer reached the spot he thought I'd be in, and he stayed in that area for a while trying to figure out where I'd hidden, giving me time to search the map and find hatch. I would not have escaped had we both started searching for the hatch immediately, because it was much, much closer to his initial location than mine.

Distortion deserves a buff
6 -
Honestly I think distortion could use a rework of sorts. Instead of it completely preventing the killer from seeing your aura, your aura specifically is obscured making it harder to see. Imagine like back when the new auras were first put into the game and everyone had a hard time making them out, that's what distortion could do.
0 -
That's a false equivalency. bbq will barely eat at those distortion tokens anyway. (if you try even a little bit to get into lockers)
but I do agree something should replenish tokens on distortion
2 -
I mean if both sides got a bp basekit I would 100% prefer to run thrilling tremors over bbq since it does something, if you think the aura is "op" the problem lies on you.
Now on the other thing, distortion does need a buff since it's a great perk but the very limited tokens make it not so good, maybe do a totem to replenish 1 token or do 50% of a gen who knows but it does need a major buff.
0 -
Distortion should be unlimited. There's no reason it shouldn't be. Survivor needs more meta perks and with so many aura perks, there needs to be some counters. There is killers with OP aura add-ons and it wastes distortion in no time.
3 -
No way to that later part.
0 -
It definitely needs a buff sure 3 tokens do its job to a point but it's not enough
0 -
I was thinking with distortion Is to add 1 token per level leave the no scratch marks at 6 seconds
0 -
That’s why I literally said remove the cap and add an objective. Do you guys just not read and jump to defend the killer role 24/7?
0 -
Add an objective and remove the token cap. That way they can’t ALWAYS counter these but whenever you have a token you could.
0 -
Not at all. They should've done this from the beginning
0 -
That's not a bad idea.
