If the killer closes the hatch to power the exit gates should NOED still activate?

My answer is no.

I had a game where my three other teammates just traded hooks in the basement against a demo. I knew better then to go over there, I even healed one of them up who managed to get away. but she went right back to it.

I got one gen done and had to look for the hatch well the killer found it first and closed it, That activated NOED and I was down in one hit and hooked.

For being the only person who played the game smart it stung pretty badly when that happened.

You had no gens done, the hatch was closed and you got found. One hit or two, it was gonna end the same way.

But yeah, it powers the gates. Gates powered = NOED activates. Shouldn't matter if it was the hatch.

my team was the problem. but If NOED wasn't a thing I would have made it out that door.

I would say this is precisely why NOED shouldn't activate when the hatch is closed.

In my honest opinion noed is the only perk that I think needs a rework. Why be rewarded for losing? The perk should give a increased speed increase with a 50-75% weapon hit recovery.

At this stage aspects such as end game, hugely favours killer.

So to just focus on NOED is more like 'whatever'.

I think its more prudent to talk about how the devs have moved the goal posts in regards to how it was a metric of 2 escape 2 kills but we've been around 3 survivor kills for over a year and people still cry about 'poor killers'.

Those conversations address your concerns better. But the killer dominated forums can't deal with that unfortunately.

    No.

NOED is to punish survivor for rushing gens. Why should the survivors still be punished if all 7 gens are still unpowered?

    Totems are a secondary objective.

You're saying that Ryan489x deserved NOED because they finished 1 gen instead of 5 totems while his team was playing the way they did??

  • Nos37
    Nos37 Member Posts: 4,142

NOED makes the secondary objective the primary one; that's stupid.

Yes. Hatch shouldn't even be a thing in the first place. You lost, so why should you escape? EGC needs to activate the second the third survivor is dead.

Since BHVR is incosistent with wording on perks, this oversight has slid by for the past 5 years. It's supposed to "acivate when the last generator is completed," as punishment for rushing gens and ignoring totems, not "when the exits are powered," allowing the killer to get a free NOED proc

I mean, it's a bit overkill, but I don't see why not. The survivor is practically screwed anyway at that point if they didn't find the hatch. If they get caught trying to get a door, it doesn't matter whether they take 1 hit or 2 hits after you close the hatch, they aren't getting out.

Why should you get another chance? Think about how it would feel for the killer if he plays well, kills everyone but one, closes hatch and still loses because survivors get yet ANOTHER chance.

NOED shouldn't activate at all. Delete it.

    1. I didn't leave my team for dead they played like idiots and gave the demo 3 easy kills. I wasn't going to hand him number 4.
    2. the hatch was on the other side of the map from me so it was 50/50 if I found it.
    3. the killer only found me because I was opening a gate, my only other option. If NOED wasn't there I would have had it open and with a lucky dodge might have made it out.

I'm not upset at the killer for killing me. I'm simply voicing an opinion about a perk. If a killer runs it, that's their choice. I don't have to like it.

I can't help but notice a pattern here. Since I play both sides I see it all the time. A survivor complains about a perk or killer behavior it's

    "Well you screwed up"

    "Should have done this"

    "shouldn't have done that"

"you left your team for dead"

A killer complains about underhanded survivor behavior or a perk they have

    "It's a tactic to win"

    "just run this perk"

    "don't do this then"

    "you're just trash"

This community has such a bad double standard. I'm used to it by now but I still don't like it. what's wrong with us?

Playing like a complete ass and taking advantage of everything you can do stop the killer Makes you a good survivor. If a killer does the same thing and completely wipes a team of survivors? well they're just trash, the worst killer ever and too OP.

I know I've said those things in the past myself but after playing as both killer and survivor for a while I know how counter productive it is.

This is the WRONG attitude to take. There is no "I" in team. You can't blame it all on them. You were there. Even when I've been with terrible Players I still managed, by myself, to get a lot done. Your desire to throw your team under the bus rather than take ownership tells me you were just as responsible (if not more). NOED isn't the problem; you are.

It's a team game. Your outcome being based on your team's performance isn't surprising and the killer's perks shouldn't be disabled so you can get a pity win.

He found and hit you. Unless the gate was outright open, I'm pretty sure you were going down man.

then they should change that too IF they change one side and that's a big IF

I had it at 99% one tap and it would have been. NOED comes with a speed boost too not just the one hit down.

If anything Rancor should be changed to activate when the killer closes the hatch.

  • Ryan489x
    Ryan489x Member Posts: 1,503

wait it doesn't do that? When the gates power up you're supposed to be able to down and kill the obession.

That seems like one of the many oversites.

  • Crowman
    Crowman Member Posts: 9,603

The exact wording of Rancor is:

    "Once all Generators are completed:"

NOED by contrast uses the wording:

"Once the Exit Gates are powered and there is at least one Dull Totem remaining"

  • Ryan489x
    Ryan489x Member Posts: 1,503

They should change the wording to one of the two then. because that's BS.

I apologize. I read your post as 'noed got me so nerf it'. There is at least 5 posts on it a day and it does get tiring seeing people dump on killers all the time because they dared use a powerful perk.

I play both sides as well. I have used noed, been hit by noed, and have also deleted noed by getting all the totems (very satisfying). I really don't see an issue with the perk. One its a hex, and two its an end game perk. The killer just went all match with 3 perks against 16 survivor perks. Idk... it seems fair to me.

Your suggestion makes me wonder about keys. What if a survivor dips with a key, killer closes hatch, and 2 survivors remain? Surely the killer should be able to have noed.

If it were to be changed to 'after the 5th generator is completed noed activates' then I would also have to suggest that survivor end game perks have the same condition. Would be unfair for killer to close hatch for Adrenilin or Hope to pop but noed is deactivated.

Speaking for getting rid of NOED, last night I was playing and I was cleansing a totem as the last gen finished. I guess NOED picked that totem to spawn on. It didn't even have time to light up and I took it out instantly. I've never seen that happen before. The best part was it was an AFK killer banking on NOED to come get us after the gens were done and I was doing bones the whole time for that reason.

And I agree if they changed NOED they should change the survivor perks too.

  • FancyMrB
    FancyMrB Member Posts: 1,250

Hahaha that is always the best feeling! I have cleansed noed a couple times right as it lights up. Feels good ^^

    MigrantTheGreat Member Posts: 1,379

Because it doesn't reward for playing bad. It punishes survivors for not doing their optional second objective. You chose not to do totems so endure your punishment. Or you can evade punishment and open a exit gate and get out.

  • Nathan13
    Nathan13 Member Posts: 6,725

I think they both should work when the gates are powered. if I close a hatch and the last survivor is the obsession why shouldn't I be able to mori them?? Not like they're gonna escape unless maybe if the gates are far away from each other.

  • Alice_pbg
    Alice_pbg Member Posts: 6,556

I don't think it makes any difference if noed activates or not at that point... either the gates are close enough to patrol, or they aren't. noed won't change much.

I hate noed and all but get rid of it? C'mon you can't be serious even if it activates it's just one bone. On top of that get rid of it and what happens to endgame builds (btw is that free kills too?) noed, remember me, BW, and that useless one trickster has? No way out lol that's it lets block the gate while there running to it, unhooking, healing, etc. Even if they get there and it is blocked oh just wait 3 more seconds and your good to go! Play your game DEVS.
