patch 5.0.1 Fixed an issue that let people have fun
good news! they fixed this: https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/o5quen/moment_of_silence_for_all_the_amazing_cosmetics/
if you bought one of the sets so you could enjoy that bug sucks to be you!
whats that? you wanted fixes for the lag? frame dropping? maybe some optimization? and let our players enjoy themselves? maybe in like half a year we'll do one of those things which will then add 5 more game-breaking bugs. until then we'll fix what will probably be the worst map in the game in a month so we can laugh as you all suffer on an enormous building stuffed with small hallways and unsafe pallets!

I still have my cosmetics glitched, how to avoid from reseting?

you simply can't load into a lobby with that character equipped or play a match with them until a workaround is found. to put it simply, it's "look but don't touch" right now.

okay, amazing. thanks for info

How does a 5 year old game with 600 members on the team manage to do such an abysmal job on these releases and updates? I’ve never built a game so I try and give the benefit of the doubt, but this is next level messing up. I’d expect this if the game just came out maybe but not now.

May I ask, what was your goal in making this thread? Other than looking a fool, you're wasting your time.

It's disappointing but it was probably necessary due to legal issues that could have resulted with Capcom.
The solution to this? Make weapons from sets unlinked, unlink non-licensed sets that CLEARLY work fine with other cosmetics (Why is Yun-Jin's outfit linked????), as proven in the Reddit post, and that's about it.

when everybody collectively complained about demo being nerfed during his buff they buffed him. im doing my part to complain about a change that shouldnt have happened

Oh no making a post about his opinion on a forums what a fool he is. Honestly the only one making a fool of themselves is you

It's a license rights issue.
DBD is beholden to portray licensed characters in a way that's dictated by the owner of those characters. If the party that owns a licensed character says "they have to look like this", DBD is legally obligated to respect those terms. As part of that obligation they're likely required to do what they can to discourage people from circumventing this.
As such, BHVR probably has a single all-inclusive restriction on the ability to mix and match pieces from different character models to prevent such a thing from happening, rather than programming separate, individual restrictions for every character in the game (licensed or not). The answer, if they want to, is to individualize the ability to swap the character model pieces for unlicensed characters while keeping the restriction in place for the licensed ones. It's probably easier for them to just have the single all-inclusive restriction, and they probably figure that there's no benefit to them (BHVR) for changing that anyway.
I know that no one likes this, but it's a serious legal obligation that they have agreed to and are bound to enforce, not just a fun little thing that they wanted to take away because they're jerks with mixed-up priorities.

Exactly. People are acting like BHVR did this because they're evilllll but they're just trying to avoid conflict.

"if you bought one of the sets so you could enjoy that bug sucks to be you!"
The fool is the OP trying to rub it in our faces, their opinion makes them a fool ;)

Wha...they are saying it as if they were bhvr not themselves to make the point that bhvr doesnt care about their players, what are you talking about?

To be completely fair a lot of people just don't know. As I coincidentally mentioned in another somewhat similar thread just before this one I found out myself by going through this same thing on the official forum of the THQ-developed WWE games. Those didn't allow you to change the appearance of official WWE wrestlers either (only custom characters that players made from scratch) and everyone demanded to know why. The developers had to repeatedly explain that it wasn't their choice - they actually asked for the feature themselves, in fact - but WWE forbade it, so that was that.
I understand wanting more customization options in this game too, I mean who wouldn't want that? But it's much more complex (and legally binding) than "eh, we didn't intend for this fun glitch that people like so we're going to make sure to fix that first".
I also have to point out: NEVER buy something that's based on a glitch. It can be changed at any moment, and if you knew it was a glitch going in, no offense, but it IS a "sucks to be you" situation. I mean not that I don't have sympathy, but caveat emptor.

@miketheratguy that might be true for the copyrighted survivors but you cant mix-and-match for BHVR original characters either! and there are also locked sets that have nothing to do with non-BHVR copyrights like the Christmas pajamas! which company is blocking that?

Regardless of if you think it should be mixable or not. The devs made them linked sets. Thats the end of discussion.
I agree some of them are questionable and would be fine unlinked. But the Devs have stayed firm on linked sets and that wont change any time soon.
They knew about the bug/glitch and did not punish anybody for performing it. But at the end of the day, breaking the sets was never intended and it was going to be fixed eventually.

They need to be bought out.
