Why thinking the game isn't competitive is odd.
In the recent Devblog the devs said that if players are just interested in killing people, we will play nurse or billy and that's all. As well as stating, again, this game isn't competitive..
The thing is, you designed a game where the ONLY way to play it, is ranked. Yes, i can play Kill my friends, but I don't get any progression and it requires having friends. So that, in itself creates an oxymoron. How can a game not be competitive, if it's pvp, and the only way to play is ranked?
I am a rank 1 killer. I got there having fun.(Also, i don't play Billy or Nurse...) The survivors I play at that rank probably did the same. Thing is, just because we are having fun, doesn't mean we want the other side to win. Both sides are going to pull out all their tricks, that's what makes the game fun.
So when you say things about not all killers being strong, I hear "You wont be able to use that content most of the month."
And this is where we circle back to my previous point. If the game you designed wasn't ranked. If the survivor pool was always going to be random survivors then 2 things would happen.
1: All killers would be viable at all times.: The mix of skill levels would let all killers be played
2: The game would become very boring for me and people like me: I like playing against good players that know what they are doing. It's rather boring to slaughter every single match. And a sizable chunk of the population would do that. And I think it would kill the game. Not outright, but close enough.
So my point is this: I wish they would stop pretending this isn't competitive. It is, and it is by their design. And that competitive spirit makes the game fun. The arms race they worry about wont exist if they do their job with ballancing. We don't want every killer to be stronger. We just want every killer to be usable at all ranks.

strange concept of a non competitive game when most of the killers are only using bbq, ruin and not missing a single hit with nurse, 4k every game. seems like too high sfinter tension to be casuals

But then you claim to just play for fun and not the competition so idk what you have a problem with? Some people play harder than others. If you're here for fun, have fun. Dont WORRY about the kill/escape. Enjoy it.2 -
For me, a game is competitive as soon as the purpose of the game is to win against other player(s).
Even Mario Kart in Battle mode on N64 is competitive.

Of course, making all killers on par with each would be the best solution to this, rather than having no ranking system.0 -

What does rank / the ranking system have to do with competitive or not? Dota WC3 had no ranking at all yet it was competitive in a high level. Quake, SC1, CS1.6 all had no ranking yet they were all competitive games.
People confuse things here I think. As soon as the match is a competition between you and other players, it's competitive.

It should be close to impossible with the currnet balancing to reach rank 1 as solo player or as freddy for example. Yet you can achieve both very easily since the whole rank system is a joke

I too am a Rank 1 killer and seldom play Billy or Nurse. I have no problem taking in any killer and having a intense game. It is that competitive intensity that makes it fun. This is absolutely a competitive game and the fight to win happens every match. But you are going to get beat sometimes. That just makes you jump in and fight the next fight.
It is true that every killer is not a top tier killer but it is false to say they are not all viable to have fun with at high ranks. Most big streamers out there that Killer main use all killers effectively at rank 1.
