Tunneling the new strat?
So since DBD fixes everything besides their bugs that kick people out out and make them lose points I’m now a rank 9, I was a 4. I’m getting killers who either camp or tunnel. Is this the new strategy for people who suck? You get no points for camping and tunneling so why do it, it’s not fun for either.

Pretty sure this has been around since day one.
Also:
8 -
They all do it. Especially wraith, bubba, and now nemesis. It’s so sad.
8 -
"New" sadly there's nothing new about it my friend lol
5 -
People who are bad do it because they can’t win by playing normally, I went from rank 1 to rank 11 now in just 1 week because I kept getting tunneled. They really need to get punished.
4 -
While tunneling is utterly tedious and awful to deal with, if you drop ten ranks in a single week there's probably greater issue at play than merely being tunneled.

The killer's objective is to kill the survivors. Tunneling tends to be an effective way to do it.
When you're playing survivor, do you walk around the map tapping each generator one by one until they're all finished? What handicaps are you intentionally giving yourself to make things easier on the killer?
15 -
Nah man, I get tunneled at the beginning of the game and then camped. Obviously I won’t pip if this happens literally every game.
1 -
I got tunneled alot (especially Wraith & Doc), I despite a gameplay like that, its just no fun.
When I play Killer, I dont tunnel and make sure everyone has some fun (all my Killer match the lowest survivor score is over 12k BP, with 15k BP in average). Most of the time I get were tbag.
It goes both side, survivors have no respect on fair play Killer, they just go tunnel.
When I started playing Killer, I played super nice and only double hook and never kill..until a bully swf came. I went hardcore tunnel for weeks. Before I realize I should be a better human being. Everything has its reason.
1 -
You're very unlucky if it happens every single game.
5 -
Well it’s good you realized what you were doing, I will never take out my frustration on people who haven’t done anything. Sometimes you get bully squads and sometimes you get nice survivors. Most killers have no mercy and will tunnel even if the survivor hasn’t done anything
0 -
Yes, I really am.
0 -
Doing your objective has always been the strat.
3 -
Killers are just doing what survivors recommended them against the current gen speed: "just apply pressure"
Tunneling someone early out, creates pressure. I hope i could clarify things for you.
11 -
Omg, please quit starting these morales that bash players for doing an effective strategy. I know you hate to hear this but “tunneling” is the correct decision at times, just like how it’s the correct decision for survivors to slam gens, which is also boring for the killer. “They do it because they suck” kind of statements are so annoying and create more us vs them problems. Don’t we already get enough of that on the forums?
15 -
It’s been happening every game and I’m so tired of it, plus I run them for a few gens and they tunnel me after.
0 -
Tunneling is a tactic, not a strategy. There is nothing new about it. Sometimes it is the right tool for the Killer to reach for and sometimes it is not. It depends on the specifics of a given match.
1 -
i know people been doing since day one, but since this new RE chapter came out it’s 24/7. This game isn’t fun anymore :/
0 -
I wish you luck for your next games then. Cheers!
0 -
Lol. Always has been.

The problem isn't the Killer. Where are your teammates? Why aren't they stealing chases, taking protection hits, trading hooks, and all that jazz? Where are the hook sabotages and shoulder rescues? It isn't the Killer's job to protect you; it is their job.
9 -
You actully get points for tunneling
0 -
You tunnel gens, I tunnel you.
8 -
This has always baffeled me, why is it you think killers get no points for camping and tunneling?
Its not true fyi. Youll lose some pip points for straight face camping but if youre the kind of person/in the mood to face camp you dont care about rank anyway.
Also, with the game as laggy as it is right now trying to loop is an absolute nightmare. I know you get it on survivor side too but a single whiff could cost you the game as killer so it doesnt suprise me more people are camping

Today i played 4 survivor games, 3 of them were againts tunneller/camper killers.
Wraith chased me because i burned him with flashlight. He chased me for 4 gens and then he camped me. I escaped because my teammates were smart. They saved me and took hits for me. But i also had DS, so this game was lose 100% for Wraith.
And i get Oni, who did chase me for 5 gens. I can not say he was tunneller because he never hooked me. But why man? If you can not catch me, just leave for other survivors. Noone won pip because killer did not get any hook.
And last game was worst. Killer was afk and i wanted check basement. And ofcourse it was Bubba. And i saw him, he wanted catch me. He did and he camped me. My teammates did not try save me. And i lost pip.
4 games and i lost 1 pip. And i did not played bad. This game is ridicilous sometimes.

And what reason would people have to tunnel more with this chapter?
0 -
Thanks! You too.

It's high level play apparently at least in comp matches.
Just like dropping pallets early and gen rushing.
It's why comp matches take 4 to 5 min.
1 -
You get plenty of points because survivors rush the hook and do anything and everything to save and while you're camping and they're trying to save you have 1 survivor dying and multiple others not doing gens. All the Killer's objectives have come to them. Win-Win.

I hate getting tunneled out as much as the next person, but what is "playing normally"? Tunneling survivors out is a normal tactic and one that the devs say is fine. They give survivors tools to counter it, but they also give survivors tools to counter other killer tactics, killer powers, and killer perks, so it's not like they've singled out tunneling.
Getting "punished" in a video game isn't a good thing. It's not something players should advocate for. A lot of killers tunnel because they feel they get punished for trying to 12-hook survivors, so the answer is definitely not "punish them more." You'll end up with no one playing the game. The game needs to be more rewarding, and it needs to encourage playstyles both sides consider fun.
2 -
Do you just not want to be chased? Like survivors complain and say chasing is the only fun they have, but then they genrush like winning the game is the most important thing and complain when Killers do what they have to do to counter it while shutting down any ideas like 'maybe make gens take longer'.
What do you actually want? Because it sounds like you want really stupid AI instead of human Killers with brains.
9 -
If you're having issues being tunneled my best advice is to avoid being found 1st & take chases mid-late game to increase your chances of survival.
2 -
Any perks to run for that? I don’t have distortion sadly.
0 -
Truth I was rank 4 now I'm 13 over 2 days I've dropped so low because of tunnelling and camping it's gotten so bad I have put Decisive back on my Meg just to stand any chance.
0 -
No i love chasing lmao. That is reason i am t-bagging or clicking killers.
But also i wanna get pip. But rank system is ridicilous on this game.
0 -
Spine chill, iron will, a good exhaustion perk, DS, quick & quiet also at the start of the game don't work on the 1st gen you see.
0 -
The point is why should a long retired perk suddenly make a massive come back killers are tunnelling and camping in numbers I shouldn't have to waste a perk slot just to hope to get at least 10k
0 -
Have you consider using DS?
2 -
You click and t-bag killers to get chased, and are then unhappy that your actions get you predictably tunneled and you de-pip for it?
Sounds like you know what you're doing and you're getting the desired result. The problem is the pipping system, not the being tunneled part.
DS is changed so it only work against tunneling. Survivors stop using perk because it no longer allows them to do gens in the killer's face. Killers tunnel because no one's using DS anymore. Survivors get mad, saying they don't want to use their anti-tunneling perk to avoid being tunneled.
We use BT against camping killers. We use Distortion against aura-reading perks. We use Head On to stun killers. Why wouldn't we use the anti-tunneling perk to escape tunneling? What makes this perk different?
No one made anyone retire DS. People chose to retire DS, and it sounds like some may have made the wrong choice.
9 -
If you guys get tunnel or camp why dont you get better in chase crying about that wont help you.
Btw tunbeling will always be one of the best strat in the game its always better to remove someone early
1 -
Blame the survivors not the killers, i try not to tunnel but if someone unhooks before I’ve cleared the area and they don’t stick with the guy to take a hit or help him you best believe I’m tunneling.
2 -
In this current state of the game killers cant play fair other wise survivors will use the most unfair tactics and genrush before they can do anything. Its harder in a 1 vs 4 then a 4 vs 1
1 -
So you want to play badly and still be rewarded.
3 -
Badly? Keeping killer in chase is bad?
0 -
If you want to pip, yes.

#Tunnel or Die
0 -
I wanna pip but pip system is not good. That is reason bad survivors can get red ranks.
0 -
The system is flawed, but that isn't a reason why. Chasing isn't the only objective of the game. Do gens. Do totems. Heal teammates. You aren't going to win just stacking one of four objective categories, nor should you.
1 -
You changed your pfp and you're not ok with killer tactics anymore?
0 -
I've been forced to tunnel out someone after 1 gen is left a few times against SWFs to have a chance at winning. Its the nature of the beast. Sometimes camping is also necessary if someone is close to dying and you see everyone trying to rescue.
You have only a certain amount of control over a match. If the map is awful and the rng is worse with the sounds of gens popping because of t/l walls into pallets, into more walls into more pallets, you have to do something.
I don't condone tunneling and camping at the beginning of the match but if I'm done to 2 gens, no one is dead and and I see people working on different gens, I'm going for my damn 2k.
1 -
Sounds like a You problem.
