Deathslinger is overrated
Because of their extreme weakness to pallets and LOS blockers, Deathslinger players are often forced into super predictable shots.
You can use that to your advantage to Dead Hard (or fake out) so the Slinger doesn’t get the razor thin margin shots that you need to make the Killer work.
If Slinger is only getting shots out in the open or at weak loops, he’ll lose the game. His biggest boon is cutting off loops early to prevent pallet drops.
The fact he has such razor thin margins for shots AND a distinct sound cue whenever he scopes really doesn’t do him favors. The cue even plays briefly before quick scopes which is often just enough time to mash E with the harpoon travel time if you’re expecting a shot.

Pretty much, Huntress is a lot better. It's known that.

Combine server latency with the fact DBD's sound doesn't work half the time and this really isn't a point. Slinger has insta-ADS and while still vulnerable to the split up and do gens strategy it just isn't fun.
Nobody says he's unbeatable, they say he's ######### boring

Bad Deathslinger's are overrated*
There are almost no pallets a good deathslinger can't play around.

The problem people seem to dismiss when it comes to 'Deathslinger OP,' is that he's good in the 1v1, bad in the 4v1. He has no map pressure.

death slinger is kinda like clown, meta game not so good but strong in chases and people complain about him because their skill doesn't matter the only counterplay is the death slinger missing

Or making him miss. Do you really believe that DS players are bots? If you are unpredictable with your movement, he will miss.

The more you try and make your movement 'unpredictable', the more distance he's covering quicker due to how his ranged attack works. This is the problem people have with him. You have no idea, nor any chance of gaining an idea, when he's gonna shoot because it's so quick. If you think he's gonna shoot (he wasn't going to but you have 0 way of knowing that), you start juking but you also very quickly start losing distance and the closer you are, the easier the shot. You don't juke and he hits you before you have time to react and with how the chain works now, you can't even fight back. I seriously don't know why they changed it to where you now can't influence the chain at all instead of having at least some influence over it. It gave him at least some idea of meaningful counterplay because you could actually get behind objects to break the chain somewhat, and the Deathslinger would have to backpedal to move you away from objects.

I would use his gun only if the survivor is caught out of place or while vaulting while i have line of sight. other than that, loop as a M1 killer.

That is only true if you are somewhat close to him, in which case most killers will get a hit. If you have distance on him and reach a corner, he has to guess if you will juke. You can juke then run to the corner or just run to the corner.

As a Deathslinger main, I've never quite understood why people think he is too powerful or doesn't have any kind of counter when his ability is very dependant on the environment. I think he is a fine Killer as it is and consider him to require more skill than Huntress to be used (because let's be honest, Huntress will always be carried through the game because of the beach-ball hit-boxes rather than requiring any skill), but anyway... I disagree with some comments made in here.
He can be used to apply enough pressure and make enjoyable games, but I do agree with the point that he is not unnecessarily overpowered, but requires some work and patience to learn when to take risky shots and when not to and find ways around loops that can leave for open shots or when to take stuns for the deep wound to apply pressure.

He isn't really overrated in a chase. In the 4v1 sure, debatably he's not that amazing, but he has one of the strongest abilities in a 1v1.

He has a phenomenal 1v1. One of the best in the game and a little stealth. But, sucks everywhere else.
1. No mobility
2. No good snowball
3. Not good in dealing with pallets
4. Can't down super quick.

It's the "fun" meme that gets paraded around. Most people will admit that there are zero killers outside of nurse that can compete against a good team on comms, who are playing efficiently, and are prioritizing getting gens done over everything. The people will say "but hes just not fun!!" and if you ask survivors who is a fun killer 9 times out of 10 they will give you a list of killers who have 1. Low chase mobility 2. A power that cannot be used to hit over a pallet/window/through a wall. 3. Their power can only be used in linear lines with no curving or ability to react to a juke.

i take it you havent seen many good Deathslingers yet?
yeah, a coordinated 4 man team that does nothing bug gens asap is going to beat him, but anything less than that and he can be quite devestating.

I mean huntress is generally considered more fun to go against and she's stronger...
As for slinger yeah he's weak in 4v1 and still miserable to go against, I beat him a lot because me and other survivors usually just smash gens as soon as it becomes obvious it's him, genrush isn't exactly fun and interactive counterplay though.
If they made his ADS take longer and gave him a melody/lullaby (I mean it was necessary to give trickster one apparently?) AND made him 115 I'd be happy with that
