Why? If the Gates are open, the game will go on for a maximum of 4 minutes. So at this point, there will be an end to the game.

This, it was there to stop survivors from just crouch walking around maps when the killer found the hatch first or the gens were too close.
It was a compromise that was sort-of a buff in specific scenarios for killers.

Just a bad mechanic which shouldn't even existed. It is ludicrous that it once presented itself as a necessity.
I am positive that holding the game hostage was not as common as perceived to be.

survivors are usually already at the gate when the end game is close to ending. the only thing that makes them escape is not being killed by the killer.. when there's a single survivor after the hatch is closed, that's a little better at least.

You could try using the perk bloodwarden if you want to have a bigger effectt of the egc.

at this point, i dont care about getting kills as killer, gates are open, escape or die, egc does nothing to end the game, prolongs it as best.

It's 2 minutes. It only slows down to half speed when a person is hooked or dying.
So the maximum is 4 minutes IF a survivors was hooked or dying the moment it began and all the way until it ended.

Just because it didn't happen all the time doesn't mean it was unnecessary. Holding the game hostage indefinitely shouldn't be possible.

i had a feeling it slowing down, but i never knew that for fact. kinda makes it pointless as it still makes the game longer. no point in being there if it slows down .

The point is to limit the length of the game, up to a maximum of 4 minutes. How is that "no point"?
You seem to want it to do something else very specific that it's not intended to do.

It never happened to me, not even once. Though it is possible that we had entirely different experiences.
And it wasn't. They are at the gates? Go force them out.
They are hiding on the map? Well, if you find them they are dead.
EDIT: There is something I forgot to point out.
The lack of EGC was healthy for the game, much more than people realize. Back then, Endgame was just as important as the rest of the game.
Now, Endgame is nothing but an encouragement for scummy tactics and rushed actions.

the thing i would rather it do is end the game faster, it being extended to 4 minutes after a survivor got caught slacking is contradicting of it's reason to exist, which is to not extend the game.

It's not extending the game, it's limiting the game, by up to a maximum of 4 minutes.
Do you understand what the term "limiting" means?

The Endgame Collapse does not exist to gift extra Kills to the Killer. Just to end the game. And this job is done perfectly.

it's limiting the game by 2 minutes, only to have the to be extended another 2 minutes. it should just be 2 minutes or less to limit the rest of the game.

i never thought it was there to give extra kills. but if the definition of perfectly is allowing survs to have 2 minutes of free roam, plus, another 2 minutes for a dying survivor when they could escape and end the game. it's kinda ridiculous.

You realise without it they could spend 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or hours in the game right?
You have 2-4 measly minutes, suck it up.

So you want free Kills I guess. Because without Endgame Collapse, the Survivors would have infinite time to roam around and infinite time to rescue other Survivors.
Worst case, you have an Open Gate, no EGC and some "funny" Survivor stealthing around the Map so that the game never ends. Trust me, you want Endgame Collapse back immediatly when this happens.

it's not as if i'm sayin it should be deleted, i think it needs a change so it puts more pressure in order to force survs to escape and end the game.

The whole point of EGC was to allow the game to end to avoid any hostage situations, which is why the killer is able to open the door themselves for example. It's not meant to be either killer or survivor sided only to end the game. And I think it achieves that goal well.

i haven't once put this in the killers or survivors perspective, but;
killers side: gets a late hook, but also prolongs the timer so survivors can heal, group up and go for the unhook with no time pressure. can either camp or go roam despite them prob going for the unhook anyways. the only time they'll be time pressured is if the surv got downed very late on the timer.
survivors: has the choice to escape or stay in trial. can 99 the door which kinda negates the whole end game collapse, since they get the rescuer then insta open gate and escape (even if killers can open them). can heal (if possible) and take a hit which can get the unhook (could trade as well). this is where bt or ds can take play.
anyway. the end game collapse should simply, make it to where it is literally - escape or die.
i know it's a good thing to limit the match, but it does it so poorly.

i wont lie and say i dont get upset when they get the rescue and the escape, but that's not what this is about, it's the time during the end game collapse. that 2-4 minute span should be shortened somehow to be a true end game collapse. i just don't think that it being 2 minutes and extra time to unhook is the best way it could be done. hence, it doesn't do much to end the game.

It does it brilliantly. It gives a hard cap on the length of the game.
It IS survive or die. But, you still need time to be able to take action to achieve that end.
You realistically still need time to be able to cross the map and reach the exit gate, at a minimum, and if someone is hooked, you realistically still need time to be able to cross the map, make the rescue, and cross the map again to reach the exit gate. 2-4 minutes is the perfect amount of time for that.
Anything less than that, and you could be guaranteeing the killer makes the sacrifice, and that it's impossible to make the rescue, which would obviously be a huge issue. Killer could hook and then open the gates themselves to guarantee the sacrifice.
And if you can't camp and protect a hook for just 4 minutes, I don't know what to tell you.

even in those situation i feel like most times, there is so much time for all of that even in a shorter span than 2 minutes. but that is what im talking about mainly, since it is the end game collapse, there shouldn't be any extra time for any last second plays.

Maybe it could work at about 1.5-3 minutes, but I don't think that's really enough of a change to really bother with.

It was pretty common. Unless the survivor got to a hatch first or the killer is rather lax about the situation, it'd be a hatch standoff

EGC does its job adequately. What really and truly upsets me is that, to this day, Pig has received no buff to compensate for the nerf they gave her in that patch. Her traps used to automatically turn on if a survivor was given one after all the gens were done, which allowed the Pig to extend a lost game into something workable. Now, if a Pig hasn't used all her rbt's by endgame, she basically has half of her kit dead. I just want a compensatory buff for that uncalled for nerf to an already low tier killer.

For years, after survivors opened the exit gates, they then had infinite time to run around the map. Infinite. They could stealth around and hold the killer hostage for however long they wanted. It was a nightmare.
Then the End Game Collapse came along and freed us from that nonsense. If survivors don't gtfo within a few minutes, they die. Killers can open the door or close the hatch to start the EGC timer, and thank god for that.
The EGC doesn't provide extra time. The EGC cut the end-game from infinite down to two-four minutes. Infinite is a much longer time than two to four minutes. The EGC most certainly does not extend the end of the match.
The EGC was never meant to hold the killer's hand and help them get kills. The EGC just makes sure the match ends so the killer doesn't have to DC because some survivor thinks they're being cute. I've died to the EGC, and I've had survivors in my killer matches die to the EGC. It is escape or die.

Let me put it this way: Would you rather the EGC be 30 seconds long but any survivor alive at the end of the 30seconds automatically escapes?

it was pretty common actually. especially for new players who are immersed. people will walk soooooo slowly around the edge of the map to get to a exit gate/hatch and it would just drag on and on just waiting for the new survivor to find the exit gate and stuff. It was just awful experience to just wait and once they hear the heart beat, they hide for another 5 minutes and it just wasnt a good time.

I doubt it. I never had a single problem with survivors holding the game hostage, and I've spoken with many people who also haven't seen such things happening.
But then again, we haven't faced the exact same people. There is a huge possibility that our Endgame experiences were completely different.

I believe EGC has a kill rate comparable to killers. That's doing more than not much.
