Unpopular opinion on reworked maps
New reworked maps have trash aesthetic. Autohaven is the ugliest map in dbd history even with ultra graphics. Old autohaven was decent but the new one is so ugly, the map feels too bright just a overall mess in terms of aesthetic, even the floor or terrain makes my eyes hurt. Next the new macmillan, oh god poor MacMillan, the old blue sky was so good, now it's just some generic nighty themed lighting. I think that overall new maps tend to have better textures but in reality they just get uglier and uglier.
EDIT: Since a lot of you agree with me, how could we send the message that the reworked maps need to be changed to the devs?

Springwood and Yamaoka make me a bit uncomfortable instead of Autohaven.
2 -
Yamaoka was ok I guess I don't mind it too much, springwood got better imo

You also think the MacMillan thing is unpopular?
Almost everyone i saw talking about oldVSnew MacMillan is missing the blue atmosphere.
10 -
Autohaven and too bright in the same sentence lmao..
0 -
My feelings are the opposite, old autohaven and mcmillan looked like #########.
0 -
I'm pretty sure that is the popular opinion.
Purely because I know every DBDTuber I watch shits on New MacMillan.
I personally have no problem with it, as I don't really care how a map looks. Just that it's fair. And certain maps definitely still doesn't feel fair after their rework.

The only maps aesthetically I disliked were the Crotus Prenn maps. Everything being grey is BORING.
5 -
Theyre the ugliest maps in the game. I hate them
1 -
The type of grass in Springwood is the only annoyance I see, hopefully that doesn't apply to Haddonfield and Yamoaka, before it was easier to hide through the bushes and now one can be visible by the change of grass. MacMillan I see it the same only less blue, Autohaven, the change of moon and Coldwind by day and the change of dawn.
1 -
Yeah, agreed to an extent.
I think they all look great texturally, I just wish the aesthetics were tweaked a bit in some of them (Macmillan darker and bluer, Auto having a bit more contrast, Yamaoaka and Crotus getting just a little more color to them)
I do think Ormond, Springwood, Coldwind, and Gideon all look wonderful though. I particularly love the lighting in Coldwind even though a lot of people think it's too bright.
1 -
What's wrong with that?
0 -
For the most part, I agree. The only reworked maps that are aesthetically good are Ormond, Gideon, and Coldwind.
2 -
Not an unpopular opinion. Plenty of people don't like the reworked maps. I miss the old fog, the old darker settings, old Macmillan and Cornfield too.
1 -
I didn't know that, I don't follow discussions too much sorry
0 -
Because it's not bright at all, instead it is a super dark p3 claudette paradise.
0 -
Agreed. I love the new coldwind it reminds me a lot of that one farm map in BO2.
0 -
I don't agree on this one, I mean it is kinda dark but you can definitely spot a P3 claud.
0 -
Extremely bland to look at. Graphically they do look impressive, but they really could do with putting a bit of colour in. Red bricks, brown wood etc. But no, grey everything.
1 -
Agreed. The corn has lost its charm.
3 -
Have you ever tried new autohaven on ultra? I swear i can't see a god damn thing. I don't know if it's my monitor or something but autohaven is literally by far the darkest map for me.
2 -
I think this is the popular opinion, and rightfully so. The Realm Beyond is, for the lack of a better word, a monster. It destroyed everything it touched, sent our favorite maps to hell and replaced them with the little abominations we now have.
Now, the concept of a "good map" is nothing but a memory. A memory which we will always hold close to our hearts.
Damn you, stupid Realm Beyond, damn you!
3 -
i feel that the reworked maps drain out the charm of the original map
7 -
You have presented this as the unpopular opinion when I am sure you know that on these forums, this is the common opinion.
0 -
No I don't follow discussions too much sorry
0 -
That's one thick fog
0 -
Well, I may be wrong but this is like the 1 millionth thread, LITERALLY, on these forums complaining about the map updates... :D
0 -
Who doesn't like T H I C C?
1 -
You know I didn't notice the grey theme until now...thank you now I want to remove my eyes from my body. Jokes aside yes, now if you have a pc you can use color filters which make the game waaaaay better in terms of everything, so that's something I guess
0 -
Oh i see, I usually keep myself updated on the discussions trough youtubers (scottjund is my main source) and sometimes twitch streamers. I don't know if someone on the forums did have a discussion about map aesthetics, either way I think bhvr should do something about this
0 -
I sure do
1 -
Exactly! Boy I miss macmillan so much...
1 -
Somehow they managed to make the maps look worse. Feelsbadman. I feel like each map used to have a unique feel to it, now they all blur together for me.
2 -
So do I.
1 -
Autohaven greatly suffers from the Eclipse Lighting (like, it's this odd all-wrong light that you get at a total eclipse) that makes it hard to distinguish things on those maps. Better lighting would already be a big improvement.
A bigger issue it more just how unintuitively cluttered maps now are. as in, it's hard to tell what a killer can hit you over/through, what you can go through (the oddly broken walls on Prenn for example? You can't tell me no one fits through that) etc.
It hinders fluid (tactical) gameplay and is frustrating to both sides

Maybe I can help calm your heart.
Ready?
Go:

That's because this game is optimized with spaghetti code
0 -
I agree my Demofriend, they look so generic
0 -
Thanks Dad. What I meant what was unique about a certain set of maps (farm, macmillan, etc.) seems less now. Or maybe its just that they look like #########, who knows.
1 -
What do you mean by Cluttered?
0 -
there's a lot of... decoration now that looks as if you can run through it, as if it's a vault point, or as if a killer can hit over/through it. but it's not. it's just fancy looking
1 -
Oh ok that makes sense
0 -
Yes they sure do. The reworks look good, but they have lost there charm. Only Ormond is better all round imo although that's too bright for a ski resort
1 -
Yeah, I know it all too well. But looking at old pictures really help with that.
I was just trying to help.
1 -
I only hate the daylight in coldwind maps. Bring back the night too the cornfields!!!
0 -
One of many issues, but definitely an important one.
0 -
If they were going from current graphics to something like Last of Us 2 graphics, then I'd get it. But so far the effort of remaking old maps seems like a waste since visually they're not much better IMO, and from a gameplay perspective they're either the same or worse. I only play DBD on PC, so IDK if maybe the updates are better for consoles.
1 -
Unless you have a ps5 the game on console runs like poop
0 -
I HATE this new grass on every reworked map.
It was okey for yamaoka but god damn, i hate it on other maps.
Also the reworked maps kinda look all the same now.
1 -
Yea the grass is ok on medium settings i actually like how it moves, but on low dear god
0 -
Not only that, but the performance lag is associated with activities in game. Sometimes, it seems like you can tell when the killer is using a power or something because there's lag. When someone's in a chase, you can almost track activity by the hitching of the performance when people vault, throw hatchets, etc.
