Which is better: Counterforce or Detectives Hunch?

Personally I find that Detectives Hunch is better by a long shot. But my friends disagree. So what is your opinion? Which is better?

Detective's Hunch. It shows the exact location of all totems while with Counterforce it only shows the furthest totem.

    Detectives Hunch.

Counterforce really only has the upper hand if you're going after NOED, which isn't a guaranteed pick unless you're in a tournament or something. Detective's Hunch has way better info, hands down. Even if the killer doesn't have any Hex perks, it still shows you nearby generators and can prevent a 3 gen easily. Small Game is a better totem hunting perk than Counterforce, let alone Detective's Hunch.

I think counterforce. Detectives hunch is nice and all but when you hit the ruin undying tinkerer killers you might not even be able to get the gens done to find the totems in the first place.

Counterforce stacking speed for every totem you do used along small game is really good for denying totem builds even before the first gen pops, but its pretty much a gamble since even though it's not a rare thing, you won't get totem builds in the majority of your games. Detectives hunch will help you way more in the long run that counterforce if ran alone.

I ran Counterforce before. It isn't that good, it requires you to do a totem before you can find the others, while with Hunch all you have to do is complete an objective.

Although you can definitely combine both for an ultra totem hunter build.

Counterforce + small game if you want to be a totem monster. You can have them all pretty quick

None, don't know how unpopular an opinion this is but Detective's Hunch really isn't good. Just walking around a bit with a map makes this perk completely useless.

If I had to pick, I guess Counterforce for the 20% bonus speed on totems. But again, both are bad, I don't need any of them to use Inner Strength.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Detective's Hunch will show the majority, if not all of the totems on the map. Not only this, but it will give you information on other nearby interactables as well. You get no bonus to cleansing speed though, and you may not be in a place to look around and survey your surroundings for totems when it activates.

Counterforce on the other hand will give you a bonus to cleansing speed, and gives you a little bit of information too. Not only that, but if you're cleansing a totem then you'll be ready to look around and see where the next one is, assuming you want to spend the time to go to the guaranteed location of a totem instead of looking for one on your own.

Counter Force due to the cleansing speed. Helps against other hexes like Thrill Of The Hunt and keeps you moving. Also gives you the extra oomph to take out NOED if it's close to the hooked survivor. Detectives is a good overall perk but Counter Force is great if you really need speed on your side so you waste less time doing things.

I ran Counterforce every match leading up to Adept Jill. Got actual use out of it maybe once or twice, and even then, it was very minor use. If you can't find that initial totem to begin with, it's useless, combined with the time you waste going to the other end of the map actively hindering the team.

Detective's Hunch is one of those perks that, if I don't have what I want for a character, is usually considered because of how useful it is, not just in finding totems, but EVERYTHING else as well.

Detective’s hunch because it shows you where the totem with a cool down.

You actually waste way more time with Counterforce since you have to move all the way to the other side of the map with a chance of getting spotted by the killer. Detective’s hunch rewards you for doing your objectives.

I don't use CF like that. If I'm running it, I'll run it with SG as a combo.

Hunch is better if you have map. If not - counterforce

Detective's Hunch by far. I always thought I was a useless perk cuz with exp u know most spawns but getting swamp back to back make me retrought the perk a little bit more

Counter Force is good for solo queue. The faster cleansing speed is really nice too, nobody really talks about that. Saving time on anything is always welcome.

Now, all that being said, Detectives Hunch is just better. My goodness this perk is just so much fun to use ESPECIALLY with map + crystal bead. Revealing practically everything to your teammates whether you're solo or on comms is so powerful. I run a rainbow map + crystal bead with detectives sometimes with my friends when I feel like switching things up and being a scout and once a gen gets popped and detectives procs we all roll out and cleanse 2-3 immediate totems lol

We take NOED very seriously okay

Detective's is definitely better. Seeing a totem as far from where you are now isn't always helpful in actually finding it, but seeing one right next to you is very hard to miss. Add in all the extras and Counterforce is only useful as a secondary to Detective's or Small Game. Though, you are hurting yourself more than any hex by running any of them, imo.

Yeah but think about the times you actually need a totem hunting perk. It’s usually right at the start, when no gens are done and ruin is alive. So detectives does nothing for you there.

When Devour procs, in which case you can’t use detectives to find it since you immediately need to stop working on generators.

Or when NOED procs, in which case they are probably equal although there’s no guarantee you will have found all the totems with detectives.

    Detective's for totem hunting.

Counterforce to counter Thrill of the Hunt specifically.

I used Counterforce in a few matches and it's not that great, so I say Detective's Hunch.

Detective's Hunch by far. It gives you so much information. Combo with a map and those totems don't stand a chance.

Detectives Hunch is better. Counter force is just nice for the speed. I’m planning a build that uses those two, with Small Game & Inner Strength.

Counterforce is better if you are extremly confident in knowing totem locations.

Detective is better in general though.

In short if you need the aura reveal of counterforce then you should stick to detective's

Detective's Hunch is better. The only thing that stands out in Counterforce is the cleansing speed bonus, but honestly when does it happen that you have to break more than 1-2 totems in a match?

I still believe counterforce is a bad perk that actively hinders the survivors. They’re going from one side of the map to another, and going the least efficient way about it. Detectives hunch can show you multiple in an area and is just, all around a lot better.
