A question to the older players of dbd 2016-2019
Do you also miss that water color paint look on some of the maps and survivors clothing? It always felt nice, like a survivor story portrayed in a painting or something along the lines.
It's really noticeable on Dwight's shirt
It's a tad bit harder to see on the brick wall, but if you go closer to it you'd be able to see it. I think the best example I can give is MacMillan's estate.
Though on some of the new maps it's starting to go away for more of surreal look and it kinda bums me out. Am I the only one?

Honestly I never really noticed it before but now that it's going I do miss it. Like, I love the new gen models for example, but I liked the old ones too (at least when I was playing on Ultra and they had more than 3 pixels per piston lol)

Nope, you are not the only one. I first started playing DBD in 2018, and while maps were not on their best version back then, they were still much better than the ones we have today.
I miss a lot of things from the past, actually I would say I am the most old fashioned player in the entire DBD community. Visuals are one of those things.

In the old Design, everything was supposedly "painted" , but the new Art Director changed that direction for the game.
I think the new stuff looks better.

Exactly haha

Yeah, I get you completely. I like the realistic look of some of the maps, but I'll always miss the older textured ones. I love cartoonish looks and old dbd filled in that niche

Every single reworked map looks extremely bad, in my opinion. The old ones were iconic, beautiful, and did not need changes.
But the one map which I miss the most is Old Lery's. I am still angry that a rework ruined what once was my favorite map in the game.

the most old fashioned? game on
1 -
Not really. I just miss playing the game without freezing.
2 -
I personally thought Lery's was a nice medium of the two, but that's still fair

Oh, my friend, not sure if you can beat me on this one. It is hard to find someone as old fashioned as I am.

How many years have you used a flip phone while everyone else had touch phones?

I miss it too. The game looked MUCH more clear and easy on the eyes. It also ran better (slightly, but for DbD that's huge), which is the only thing I really care about. I'll take performance over quality any day.

I was talking about DBD...
But to answer the question, 2 or 3 months. Don't ask.

Honestly I kinda like the look the game is getting now.
I was never a fan of those splotches of color. But I do understand finding some charm in that look.

My poor console screams when I boot up the game, then it just purrs.. I dunno. I miss it the paint look, it was very lovely

Nine years. Okay, hit me with why you think you're the oldest of dbd
0 -
That's understandable, I also miss how it didn't cause my ps4 to scream loudly at first, then quiet down during actual playtime. But, that's fine. It's not damaging it thankfully

I am not the oldest player, of course, as I've started in 2018. But from what I've seen, I consider myself the be a very old fashioned player because everything I like about DBD is in the past, not the present.
I am talking about maps, perks, killers, events, animations, offerings, sounds, even the time it took to pick up and hook a survivor! The past was genuinely better, in my opinion. No wonder I had a thread asking people which version of DBD they would like to return to.
And, of course, the past had Old Freddy. My sweet and precious Old Freddy.

It’s clear the whole art style for the game has changed but there are some maps that’s definitely look worse namely the crotus prenn maps and auto haven

Don't even remind me. Looking at those maps now makes me wanna cry.

Ah, sorry for the poor choice of words. I'm just nervous. Got an interview today. ######### Covid

No worries, my friend :)
And good luck on your interview!

I did notice it in the past and I am a little disappointed that it's going away. I don't mind hugely though. Even with the graphic updates, the game is still kinda ugly. I mainly just care about the actual gameplay I guess.

I got the job incase you were wondering haha!

Well done!

It had so much style, it's a shame that consoles run on low. Otherwise I might be able to appreciate it more.

I miss the old dark atmosphere, the old lobby, the old animations, the old bugs and when our community was small and when we only had our OG survivors and killers.Im glad i joined the game at its very start.
Here are some screenshots that i took in 2016.

wait in 2016 you could have 5 perks or it was a bug?

I'm pretty sure the Streetwise is the AOE effect from another survivor. It's just not little like it is now.
