The LOL-ening
Ever since "down vote" was removed, forumers have been using LOL button as an alternative. While I generally don't care, it's getting quite out of hand especially in this thread where someone LOL'd every single dev post. I know that @only1biggs has been followed around to have every single post given a LOL in spite. Simply because people don't agree with him and just want to be toxic.
"Vote Up" should be the only option you get.
PS. I'm sure this post will get 10 LOL's by the end of the day. And I know who will be giving them too. The irony is they are actually the joke around here.

I agree with this.
Downvote option is actually better than LOL imo.

It's called freedom of expression.17

Dude... I posted 60 seconds ago, already 4 LOL's. Keep going guys I need more evidence of this nonsense thank you.

There should be 3 buttons:
- Vote up
- Awesome
- Insightful
Just like in ESO forums.
Edit: LOLs are kinda funny though.

I could get behind this, but I feel like they are all basically the same thing at the end of the day.

That's called freedom of speech.K so something about "freedom of speech" on the internet is that a company like BHVR does NOT have to give you free speech. If they want, they can delete your posts and ban you, which they do. Freedom of speech only applies to the GOVERNMENT. Not to privately held businesses. BHVR has no obligation to let you say anything you want. If you want to do that, buy your own web domain. You can post whatever you want there and no one can stop you.
7 -
Since there's no reward for any of those options, why does it matter?
To the point, though: having redundant "vote up" and "awesome" options makes no sense. They are the same thing.
Replace awesome with "down vote" and then people would use "lol" for what it is supposed to mean. Easy one-click opinions are more my style.

@Attackfrog They removed "down vote" because people would spam with alt accounts. LOL has become the new "down vote" and therefore should be removed as well. If you're only option was "vote up" then they couldn't do this.

Now that's your freedom to rant.I don't actually have that freedom here though. If a mod wanted to they could close this thread, or delete it, and ban me. I hope they don't, but it's entirely at their discretion. The 2nd amendment does not protect me here. Or whatever amendment it is in Canada IDK.

Apparently the reason why they removed 'Vote Down' was because when posts reached a certain Vote Down threshold, they'd be hidden from the forums entirely or something.
I made a post a while ago, joking about 'bring back Vote Down' because I got the 100 LOLs badge or something because LOL replaced Vote Down.
I found my post (link to it here) and this was a comment made by Peanits:@Peanits said:
Downvotes also had other things tied to them that we could not get rid of (e.g. after a certain threshold of downvotes is met, the post would be hidden). If you disagree with someone, it just makes more sense to state why you disagree with them, or upvote a post that says what you want to say. These are forums, after all, not a polling place. I'd rather see people say why they disagree with someone rather than just saying that they disagree.
That was why they removed it - they couldn't change what Vote Down did to posts on the Forums.

@Judgement That makes sense. I didn't realize this, but still the LOL's have gotten out of control. There are some people here that LOL every single post they don't agree with. What's the point of the LOL button if people just twist it to something toxic?
@KiraElijah Go ham bro.

In 2018 people act victimized over an LOL button. (Sigh)
Annoying as it is the LOL button should stay to show disagreement or flat out amusement towards posts.ย
In other forums with only the upvote option people let that ######### go to their heads.
The most idealistic change in my opinion is to completely remove all reactions to posts. Encouraging people to actually interact if they want to disagree or agree.ย7 -
@Oblitiry I agree that no button might even be the best option. I only made this post because I saw someone LOL every dev post in a few other threads. It's just childish and disrespectful, obviously the guy didn't say anything funny so the LOL's could only be trolls. He was trying to make points to validate design decisions they made. Decisions that I can GUARANTEE you were not done recklessly but after actually testing different things.
Like everyone's all "Exposed should work on Legion's Frenzy" and the devs explain they tested it and it was just too OP, but some people can't seem to accept that as an answer. They disagree and LOL the post to be toxic. Enough is enough at this point.
5 -
No, it shouldn't be taken away and for that matter the down vote shouldn't have been taken away either. We need a way to tell people and devs especially that we disagree with their opinions and actions. Sorry but the world already has enough safe spaces to ago around.

They probably didn't care enought or didn't want to pay someone to change the code of the down vote button so it didn't censor people so they simply deleted it.1 -
I have to laugh when my 1st 3 vote responses on the dedicated servers announcement 1 was an lol. I'm trying to figure out which one of my haters/trolls put it there.
I just laugh when they do it thinking it actually means anything t me, if they're trying to troll me I take it as a badge of honor.

LOL is a bit ambiguous as it could mean you don't agree or that you quite literally find it funny. But at the same time also can be taken as ridiculement.ย
I think they should remove LOL, add agree, disagree and insightful.ย1 -
Here, have a LOL for your troubles

I actually like the lol button because it gives me the ability to tell someone something is funny...succinctly...but I can't because people misconstrue it as "down vote" or " dislike".
Honestly, I wish they would change "awesome" to "thanks", because sometimes people provide helpful info and there is no way to say thank you without posting.
If they are going to have more than one option, they might as well diversify the responses and include a (respectful) negative one.
And please: let the author of the post see who gave the tic! I hate the whole anonymity thing..if you're gonna insult someone or disagree...have the balls to put your name on it.
