Easy and balanced nerf for keys
Just make them when they have 0 charges, they can't be used to open Hatch as well. This would make Frenklin's Demise comeback again and made it even better (since you don't have to wait 90s to disapear) but after few seconds on ground, Key can't be used that match but you can still escape with it and keep it if you hold it.
I am not saying this should be the only nerf for keys, but I am just suggestion a time bandage (same like they did to Mori's) until they both reworked them as they said in 5th aniversary stream.

Keys are fine with its current state. Key escapes dont happen often. I dont understand why people hate keys so much and want it to get nerfed. When I play as killer key escapes are very rare.

I envy you, but for me (and for I would say some other people) key is not that rare to see (also thanks to new FD perk rework). The ammout of times Survivors in my matches escaped just because of Key (otherwise it would be 4K or they would die) is A LOT.

It uncounterably ends a game early and it can be brought in at will.
Moris got nerfed because all the killer had to do was bring a rare offering and they could win the game by shifting the game win conditions into something that wasn't balanced and heavily favored them. Unless the killer was really bad at the game, or the survivors were slippery gods, it was an instant lose as soon as survivors saw that offering burned. Keys are similar. It's hard to get hatch not to spawn because the first gens go the fastest - killers aren't able to defend them unless the survivors play badly. Killers' ability to guard the remaining gens increases as time goes on, more pallets are broken, and there are fewer gens to guard, and keys let everyone remaining nope out at times where the killer could have guaranteed won the match.
There is currently nothing a killer can do to prevent hatch escapes except kill everyone before 3 gens are completed, which is something that can happen in the first 100 seconds of the game if survivors play optimally.
Keys are less of an issue at lower ranks because survivors play worse. At high ranks, they're considerably more aggressive, both about bringing keys and using them effectively as a team.

Before the mori nerf I've seen about 1 ebony in less then 1 out of 20 games. They were rare and mainly taken when faced with SWF or rarely by a bit more spiteful players who had a bad game before.
Yet the nerfs happened anyway and were deserved as they were too strong. Same for keys, just because survivors suck at using them doesn't mean they're weak (same if old mories didn't get to be used because killer sucked, not the fault of the offering that killers fauil to use it), on the contrary, they're brokenly strong when used by a good survivor team. Just at the point where killer starts to snowball and win the match by killing 1 person, 3 other just passively escape becauses key let's them so for free.
They're unhealthy and as busted as old mories when used by non-vegetable survivors. They deserve a nerf.

I agree, this should have been done with the Change to Franklins.
However, I am pretty sure that the Devs know what they want to do with Keys, so I dont think that any ideas on the Forums will really grab their attention.

I will avoid every key I see, killer or survivor I dont care. It's not fair and often encourages bad play styles making the matches less fun.
People can think and say what they want about dodging keys but at the end of the day I play for fun, key games never seem to but fun as either side.

even as someone who plays more survivor than killer, I don't bring keys because I wanna play the whole game. I have those teammates who will key out selfishly and leave me behind.

I agree. But then I have always gone by the moto "act how you want others to act" so I'll play in a way I'd expect people to play versing me. So for keys I dont play a game if they're in and I especially wouldn't bring one in.

This actually addresses why I think Franklin's is more balanced now. Yes the items don't disappear, but you can't use them that match. If you manage to escape, you might get to pick it back up and keep it, which ultimately is balanced. Killer denies use of the item, but survivor can still keep it. Win-Win.
