Can ppl stop crying over prestige #########?
I keep seeing more and more tweets or comments or discussion on other forums about ppl complaining that prestige needs a reward or something. Even Scott Jund made a video about that.
Sry to break everyones hope but Prestige was NEVER MEANT TO GIVE YOU A ADVANTAGE! IT NEVER WAS IN EVERY OTHER GAME SO IT WILL NOT BE IN DBD TOO.
Prestige is there for ppl who have too much time or are obsessed with collection (just like me) and WANT to put extra effort in to obtain it.

"Sry to break everyones hope but Prestige was NEVER MEANT TO GIVE YOU A ADVANTAGE!"
*laughs in Claudette*

Haha well this is just a unfortunate bonus xD
Same goes to ghostface or Myers, jesus or other characters, they are less visable in P3 which is a slight advantage but tbf its not as bad as ppl consider it. Also for me it is easier to find a p3 claudy than a full green or brown claudy.
2 -
But the devs themselves talked about additional prestige rewards in last years anniversary stream..
30 -
The devs talk about alot, they said they wanted to add a new early game mechanic, rebalance perks like monstrous shrine, "buff" clown, "Adjust" Legion" and many other things.

Yes, most of us know what Prestige's purpose currently is, and we know it's nothing new.
So then what's wrong with wanting to break the mold?
Why NOT have it do some more? (Though i wouldn't want like during-Trial advantages.)
Whether they'll actually do it or not is a different topic, and you've clearly already made your bet.
Oh and PAYDAY 2 does do bonuses with Prestiging through their Infamy system, just saying.
17 -
i wouldnt mind some boni for prestiging.
though i absolutely dont expect them to be anything big, i think the best way for this is to keep prestige optional instead of making it mandatory.
1 -
I wouldnt mind something new agree. But you cant call it then Prestige, if BHVR and ppl would want extra rewards then this is not called a prestige.
You cant call it Spaghetti Bolongnese with meat and Tomato souce in because you want extra cheese in it, then its a Casio e Pepe (Or just with cheese how most ppl would like to call it). Hope I didnt made it too confusing.
Anyway, I dont get how ppl act like prestiging is impossible, I literally need 1 day to p3 a character. I assume the average player may need around 2-3 days, you need around 5-6million bloodpoints. This sounds much but with We will live forever or BBQ this will go very fast, just take your time.
Ppl are getting just way too lazy and start complaining about everything and this makes me sick, I am so offended by this because a once wonderfull game got destryoed and eaten up slowly by ppl like this (World of warcraft). Complaining about stuff that isnt even a huge problem but make it to a huge problem and so devs will adress it and in the end the game will get just way less enjoyable like that over time.
To make it clear, ppl ALREADY complain how "long" it takes to get all perks or your character to level 50 atleast, now think about it if Prestiges will give you some kind of advantage, everyone needs to level now way more then they already need just to gain that extra bonus, so the debate about the grind of Dbd is too much will get even worse.
1 -
Agree, I think prestige skins are that "valueble" BECAUSE you dont have to do it, it is a unecessary extra effort you put into to obtain them just because you choose to do it. That makes them so special, that would get completly destroyed if prestiges will give you extra rewards or advantages.
1 -
No one thinks of the player that has all perks on a P0 killer/survivor when they bring up this topic. Give prestige extra bonuses would alienate those players who believed prestige was just a cosmetic thing.
3 -
Well I think I am not allowed to send Twitter links here, but anyway. Saw recently a guy who made a big post about the "problems" of dbd and he mentioned at Prestiges to be one... so that made me do this topic here.
However I agree, it would be very frustrating for ppl like that.

They did buff clown though
0 -
Buffing Clown from trash to bad is not a big difference imo.
1 -
I think its more that prestiging used to kinda mean something, now with the prevalence of way better cosmetics, some even free, its lost its reason to exist.
0 -
I almost never use cosmetics from the Store, so for me it still has that special meaning.
1 -
Let's just remove Prestige completely. Those who already have the skins can keep them like some sort of legacy skin. Problem solved.
0 -
Like we never hear about bringing legacy back.
0 -
I mean, we've heard that they will never bring it back.
1 -
Yet there are those that want it back.
0 -
Such as myself. Don't blame me, they look cool.
0 -
Agreed, its not that we want it to give us an advantage, its just that its so useless that we would like something out of it
3 -
Same also some characters just have amazing basic skins like Oni, Kate, Yui or Blight
0 -
Thats the point, what problem? There is no problem, either you want to get the skins and do it or not.
0 -
I think p3 just looks amazing and is totally worth.
0 -
Can you stop cry about the issues people are discussing please?
0 -
If you are happy with it, then thats fine, its just that the majority of people, including I, see no meaning in prestige unless there are bigger incentives
2 -
I prefer legacy skins over blood prestige. A “blue” legacy was mentioned in that video and I would love to glow brighter than the sun if there was a way to unlock rare skins like that but that’s just my personal preference. I’ve said before how I wish I could trade in devotions levels etc to unlock legacy type cosmetics but I don’t know if anything along those lines will ever happen.
0 -
Then dont click on that threat lol
0 -
Same for you, do not click on complain discussions posts.
0 -
Then you don't need to. If they made it beneficial to the point you're at a disavantage not prestiging. Well then there's the problem. You no longer have the choice to ignore it.
1 -
I do but it got literally thrown at my face in Twitter cuz someone liked it :)
0 -
Good point, I guess I just want a bigger incentive to prestige, its a cool concept that a lot of games have and I just want more out of it (also I would like to keep my special offerings and items)
0 -
Prestige is pretty useless because you can't show it off unless you wear the cosmetics. Plus store cosmetics exist. Of course it's optional but it needs more rewards, but for now prestige rewards should not be a priority because there are worse issues, such as balance and optimization.
An idea I have is each time you prestige, you gain a charm. P1 is bronze, P2 is silver, and P3 is gold.
The charms depend on the character you prestige. They have the character's adept/power icon on it. For example Dwight will get one with his face icon on it, and Trapper will get one with his bear trap icon on it.
I only prestige because I want to complete DBD.
1 -
But you can take steps in order make it so that not prestiging puts you at a disadvantage.
Maybe in the blood web there is a chance to have special clothing or charms you can spend bloodpoints on other then blooded clothing. This would put no one at a disadvantage since cosmetics and charms don't have any gameplay benefits other then darker toned clothing and even then you can prevent dark clothes from appearing in the blood web. This is a good incentive with people still having the choice to prestige or not.
0 -
Even the devs mentioned they wanted to add something more to it, this seems to be something so stupid to complain about.
0 -
what disadvantage? You just need to level this character and get everything back, its just more time you need.
0 -
I know there is no disadvantage. But what I am saying is that you could put better rewards for people who prestige their characters without it disadvantaging the people who don't want to prestige.
It still gives the player choice and freedom while it rewards the hardwork of people who take time to prestige.
2 -
Well I dont see your point bro,
"It still gives the player choice and freedom while it rewards the hardwork of people who take time to prestige."
It is the bloody clothes you get there,
I dont know why you act like you get nothing out of it. I personally play since Oni release oni with his P3 because I love his base outfit and the blood just fits so well, same goes to Deathslinger and Blight, there prestiges are by far the best but most of the otherst still look very good though.
0 -
The incentive is currently cosmetic. Clearly thats not enough for some.
0 -
Sure you get something out of it but the reward isn't good enough.
It's like working hard at a job then only getting paid 25 cents. The reward you get does not equal the hard work you put into it. All you get for prestiging is bloody clothes and that's it. All that hard work for a 1 cosmetic that is arguably outclassed by the other paid cosmetics. There is no harm in adding better rewards for prestiging.
2 -
Prestige is just that, a perception of their achievement. It doesn't require anything other than that. If you don't like the clothing then don't prestige. You're not missing out on anything, the way it should be.
0 -
Well I feel here we are going to have to agree to disagree. In my opinion you should be better rewarded for the hardwork you put in.
0 -
Well a reward like money is a set value and universal for everyone. A reward like a cosmetic is always a subjective thing, imo I love the the cosmetics and they are totally worth that time and effort. It is just 2 different views you know. Since you see it as "too hard work for too less of a reward" it ofc means that these skins are not worth the effort therefore dont prestige then, noone forces you, if you really want it then do it, noone is stopping you from that :).
1 -
I think, with this comment, what's being highlighted here is that the issue why Prestige prolly feels so stupid is bc you get cosmetics, and lose all your perks to do so. Just so you can spend 5 bazillion more BPs to be able to play your build again. The issue isn't inherently the Prestige system, fundamentally. It's the lackluster BP rewards and completely idiotic pricing/grind-fest to fake player retention by doing a Hex: Ruin level slow down on moving through your bloodwebs, which is what Prestiging really is, tbh. Just zooming through more bloodwebs to have a permanently bloodied outfit. On top of that, Bloodweb is RNG so who knows how many tiers of it you have to go through to get your perks, just so you can Prestige again, and go into the grind for 500 more hours for piecemeal BP rewards to do it again.
No wonder it feels incredibly meh when you boil down what's actually happening in the process.
1 -
Whole point of prestige is to give no-lifers something to do, not sure why people who can be bothered to waste millions of BP for a skin they probably never use should also be given some advantage over others.
1 -
I'd like if we could prestige other cosmetics too. David's the only character that gets more bloody clothes to play with. I'd be fine doing it more than 3 times if I got more options for customization.
One thing I really wish they'd do is give us a little reward for Devotion. A little 50k BP surprise would be neat.

Thing is, prestiging in other games doesnt really affect your gameplay too much as it mostly relies on skill. In DBD, perks and addons matter quite a lot.
Adding on to that fact that leveling and unlocking things in other games has a relative fun factor to it, taking often as much, if not less time to gain everything back(since you're better etc). Where in DBD, it will take you MORE time, leveling isnt fun at all(it takes a LOT of time just to clear 1 bloodweb, where in other games its pretty much an insta-select) and the way you gain points is so grindy that the entire community is begging BHVR to increase the BP you can save up(as you're forced to spend it, note that other games dont really have a point limit). Another fact of the matter I can add, is that prestiging to lvl 3 isnt really that much compared to unlocking all the perks. It can easily take 15 million BP to unlock all the perks in the game(AFTER you've reached lvl 50, making the total for p0 all perks 17 million and p3 all perks 21 million), it takes a "mere" 5 million BP to be able to prestige to p3. It takes you 3 times as long to unlock everything than it takes you to prestige to lvl 3, where in other prestiges, you pretty much have 90% of the unlockables available, if not more.
So yes, prestiging should have a notable effect on your bloodwebs. The better bloodwebs do not give you a significant advantage, other than being able to get higher tier addons more often, which you currently wont notice.
A good example: I have 200 grey addons(not total, just 1 type of addon) that I will never use, since I have 60 yellow addons of the exact same type. Having better bloodwebs wouldnt make that grey addon better, but it would give me less grey addons.
The other option they could do, is give p3 killers a sacrificial place where they can dump their useless addons and offerings into bp. Basically anything to reduce the grind would make prestige meaningful.
Back when DBD released, prestiging was comparable to other games with their prestige, as you were able to unlock nearly 100% of the content of that character by the time you hit lvl 50. Now? You barely unlock 25% of the content before you can prestige. So yes, if you were to prestige and reset your entire 17 million BP grind back to 0, there should be something pretty good in exchange for that.

Exactly

Having duo mags and extended mags or silencers on Cod guns is a huge advantage and you lose all of them once you prestige, also you lose most of your guns aswell, you are back a the 5 basic class kits there.

Isn't the skin the prestige award?
What more do people want?
If you spend hours playing a game and think somehow that is a great feat and makes you deserving of something more, then frankly you're a fool.

I'd personally like it to at least not remove the perks we have equipped (correct me if I'm wrong you lose your perks and your items entirely in your inventory) and not essentially just wipe your WHOLE character progress for some blood splashes and 6 billion BP spent.
