Chapter XXVII: Final Fantasy
Killer: Sephiroth
Stats
Real Name: Sephiroth
Weapon: Masamune
Power: Supernova
Movement Speed: 115% (4.6m/s)
Alternate Movement Speed: 90% (3.6m/s)
Terror Radius: 32 meters
Height: Tall
Perks: Heartless Angel, Scintilla, Empyrean Wrath
Power: Supernova
When the Trial begins, Supernova begins to charge for approximately 120 seconds.
Upon that 120 seconds finishing, Supernova will automatically activate and the Trial Grounds shake with a dark fog washing over the area. All survivors on the map will experience up to two of multiple random status effects upon Supernova's usage, which are the following:
- Blindness
- Deep Wound
- Hemorrhage
- Hearing
- Hindered
- Incapacitated
- Mangled
- Oblivious
Supernova's timer can be altered through damaging Survivors with your Basic Attack, which reduces the timer by 5 seconds per successful hit, and 20 seconds if the Survivor is hit while Exposed.
The duration of these effects last for approximately 60 seconds or until gotten rid of by normal means, if applicable.
Supernova has a cooldown of 60 seconds before starting back up again.
Special Attack: Shadow Flare
Press the Active Ability button to charge up and cast Shadow Flare. Shadow Flare can be charged up to 3 seconds, with each passing second adding a Flare to surround the Survivor.
When a Survivor is hit by Shadow Flare, they are marked by it for approximately 60 seconds. If the Survivor cannot dispel the Flares in time, one of three effects will happen upon being hit:
- If the Survivor has 1 Flare on them, they will produce a scream and alert Sephiroth to their location.
- If the Survivor has 2 Flares on them, they will produce a scream and alert Sephiroth to their location, as well as become Injured.
- If the Survivor has 3 Flares on them, they will produce a scream and alert Sephiroth to their location, as well as become Injured and suffer the Broken status effect for 60 seconds.
A visual and auditory indicator will occur when the Shadow Flares begin to activate towards their target, as they will start spinning much faster before stopping in place and hitting the Survivor.
When a Survivor comes into contact with another Survivor while Shadow Flare is active, the other Survivor will be hit by the Flares and produce a Killer Instinct trail, revealing their location to Sephiroth.
Only three Flares can be active on a single survivor at a time.
The initial projectile that's sent out to cast Shadow Flare reaches approximately 8 meters.
Barrier Materia
Special items known as Barrier Materia can be found scattered across the map, and are the only things that can dispel Shadow Flare when used.
When Shadow Flare is active, Survivors will see an aura of all Shinra Chests that contain Barrier Materia. Once a Materia is collected, the Survivor can then utilize the Materia to cast Reflect, which will cause the Shadow Flares to immediately fly away from them.
If the Survivor utilizes Reflect while in Sephiroth's proximity, the Shadow Flares will hit Sephiroth and stun him for up to 3 seconds (1 second per Flare).
Only 4 Barrier Materia will be available in the Trial.
Perks

Map: Midgar
Taking place within the abandoned streets of Midgar, Survivors must navigate through the hellish maze of a city away from the Killer or be bested by it. Iconic locations such as the train station, the Shinra Electric Power Company building, and many of the Sectors and underground can be seen while traversing the map.
Thanks to the influence of Sephiroth and The Entity, the entire landscape of Midgar showcases an impending meteor strike above it from the summon of Meteor. When the Exit Gates activate, Meteor will start to descend upon the Trial Grounds, and any survivor who does not escape will be incinerated by the Meteor itself, rather than killed by The Entity.
Mori
Sephiroth's first, known Mori has him approach the survivor as they try to move away, only to plunge his sword down through them, lifting them up as they futilely struggle against it. As the survivor continues to struggle, even grabbing at the sword, Sephiroth tosses them down to the ground and disappears, before plummeting down and stabbing them straight through the head with his Hell's Gate attack.
Sephiroth also has a second Mori that will activate if a survivor is put in the Dying state by Shadow Flare after being hooked twice, however, which has him walk up behind the survivor as they attempt to get back up, before performing his Hell's Gate attack. The survivor's body will immediately tense up before hunching over, limp.
How Sephiroth entered The Entity's Realm
"There are many candidates that come across The Entity's eyes, many of whom either join willingly or unwillingly. An unspoken agreement is often made before these candidates enter the Realm to become the Killers of The Entity."
"One such candidate was the One-Winged Angel, Sephiroth."
"After Sephiroth spoke to Cloud about defying destiny and disappeared from the edge of creation, he appeared in an area resembling Midgar, but there was something amiss around him. A fog. A fog surrounded Sephiroth everywhere he looked. The Entity had approached him, desiring to take him to use for its nefarious and malicious desires, and attempted to make an unspoken agreement with Sephiroth. The Entity was not prepared for what occurred afterward."
"Sephiroth had refused the offer to join The Entity's ranks, and instead, drew his blade towards The Entity with that same cold, malicious smile of his. The Entity, believing itself to know what it was handling, lashed out at him, prepared to torment him much in the way it has tormented other unwilling subjects in the past."
"But as The Entity attempted to strike, Sephiroth was already elsewhere; no, he was just under it. Before The Entity could even process what was happening, many of its claws would tear and slice apart from what appeared to be clean, calculated cuts along its being. A bellowing roar could be heard from The Entity as Sephiroth continued to point his blade toward it, as if challenging it once more to try and attack him."
"A mistake was made that very moment."
"And by the end of it, Sephiroth stood above The Entity's writhing, living body, continuing to smile as he kept his sword pointed down towards The Entity, as if ready to finish it. But the finishing blow never came. Instead, Sephiroth decided to speak his own deal to The Entity, and it had only one choice in the matter; to take it, or to perish like many others before him."
"It was a deal that The Entity could not refuse, even if it had the power to. It accepted Sephiroth's offer, allowing him to go into the Trials on his own volition and by his own free will, and will allow him to leave should he desire to."
"There are many candidates that come across The Entity's eyes. Many of them join willingly or unwillingly, and an unspoken agreement is often made. The Entity never truly fears these lesser beings, and often times takes control of them. But this time, this time was different."
"For the first time, The Entity was not only bested, but it also felt the one emotion that its own victims feel."
"It felt fear."
"And that cold-hearted smile, that piercing gaze, the pain from the blades and that uncomfortable, hollow, yet sadistic laugh will forever be burned into The Entity's mind."
Further Notes
- Sephiroth was conceived as a concept for a Killer when The Trickster was revealed; I wanted to make him for the longest time in concept, but I had no way to really come up with a good way to make him seem unique, fun and balanced until now.
- I personally like the idea I came up with Sephiroth; I think it'd make him fun, while also terrifying in spite of him not coming from a horror franchise in any way.
- Sephiroth's Basic Attack is much larger than most other Killers due to the size of his weapon. In response, his Lunge Attack has decreased distance.
- Whenever Sephiroth enters a Trial, he has powers over it, as well.
- When a Survivor is sacrificed, they are not sacrificed to The Entity, but instead are sent to the Lifestream.
- When the Trial ends, where it normally would say "Entity Displeased", it will be replaced with "Sephiroth Displeased".
- Performing Moris with Sephiroth count as Sacrifices.
- There are no new Survivors in this chapter, as Sephiroth simply told The Entity that he did not desire to further torment Cloud nor his friends, yet.
- In spite of this, there are two Survivor Legendary Skins that will change the appearances of Jake Park and Kate Denson into both Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart.
- These Legendary Skins would be automatically unlocked upon purchase of the Final Fantasy chapter.
- These skins have no effect on the lore and are purely cosmetic.
- Sephiroth would be the first Killer to not have a title whatsoever. He is also not referred to as "The Sephiroth".
- Thus, he is only referred to as "Sephiroth", due to his influence in The Entity's realm.
- Sephiroth would be the first Killer to come from a non-horror media, in this case, the action-adventure RPG series known as Final Fantasy.
- Sephiroth's idle animation in the menu has a special animation where he begins to stare at the camera with a chuckle. No matter which direction Sephiroth is pointed, he will actually turn his body and head accordingly to look towards the camera.
- If pointed away from the camera, he performs his iconic Nibelheim Incident animation.
- When the match begins to ready up, Sephiroth will turn his head toward the viewer at the 15 second mark, before starting to walk away into the fog at the 10 second mark.

What do you guys think about this concept for a Killer? Do you think Sephiroth sounds fun? What do you think about his abilities or his perks?
Let me know in the comments below. It took me over a month to come up with this idea and a few hours to write this, so I'm hoping that you guys enjoyed this. If you have any favorite parts, too, I'd like to know what those would be.

This is an incredibley innovative chapter!
The only criticism I have was with the add-ons. There were too many duplicates, not much variation to give Sephiroth versatility.
His power and perks are great. I think Scintilla would make more sense as a Hex though and the cooldown be shorter, something like 35/30/25 seconds. Since it is a brutal perk, but can be easily made less useful vs good survivors that force the stun at very weak/unsafe pallets and are good at utilising vaults chained together. And Brutality could have a different name, since the term 'Brutality' is already in use in the main Scoring System. Also, perks typically only have one function that is related to the tier it is, 1/1/1 for example. My suggestion would be a set max amount of 8 tokens with 4/3/2 tokens being consumed as the aspect assigned to each tier of the perk.

I'll be taking this all into consideration and editing some of the things. There are some points you made that are indeed correct; he does need to have more versatility in his kit and I'll see what I can do about "Brutality" and "Scintilla".

Great ideas and concept, I loved everything about it.
If I had to make a complaint (and I mean forced to), I don't think Kate Denson is the best choices for the legendary skin. Kate Denson seems more like an Aerith to me, I think Meg's a better Tifa. Also, while at it might as well add Barret as an Adam Legendary.
I don't think Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret should all come free, just Cloud (Jake) and Tifa (Meg) so that FF Fans who only came for FF can still have outfits of the gate on the default and free survivors (and not an outfit on Kate they have no use for)
Sorry, I got side-tracked on the thing that really didn't matter. Great killer concept, would love it in game, 10/⭐️, would eat here again

Understandable. I'd personally like to see The Thing or The Ring since their powers could be interesting.
But I feel Sephiroth could easily take the next video game license. While there are some really good horror game characters to choose from, like someone from Fatal Frame, Little Nightmares or even F.E.A.R., Sephiroth wouldn't feel all too out-of-place since his actions and overall demeanor are both horrifying and intimidating, while his abilities would be extremely unique for the game.

Yooo this is sick. Although I think Scintilla should be a Hex perk.
Tho, what would his name in DBD be? The Angel?
0 -
I think Scintilla being a normal perk is just fine; it has a long enough cooldown and you can get into chases within less time if you're optimal, meaning that the perk won't completely save you (even on Pallet Town). However, if it really, truly isn't balanced enough, perhaps I could modify it to have some sort of requirement if more people think it's kind of bunga, but I feel like it'd be in a good spot.
As for the name, I deliberately chose not to give him a Killer name, and instead chose to just make his name "Sephiroth". This is in part due to Sephiroth being a godly entity in his own right, as well as Sephiroth's overall iconic nature in gaming and as a boss. It wouldn't feel right to just give him a Killer name.
I also tried thinking of Killer names, including "The Angel", "The Seraph", "The God", "The Illusion", but honestly none of them worked. And "The Nightmare" was already taken by Freddy, further pushing me to ultimately give him his regular name as his Killer name. Makes him more unique in that regard.

Reading other people's comments, I would also add to mine by saying Jake is a great choice for Cloud. But Tifa would make more sense on Feng imo.
His killer name would make sense to be 'The Sephiroth'; but it could also make sense to call him 'The One-Winged Angel'.

Again, just "Sephiroth", in my honest opinion.
It'd make the character feel more unique and in line with the teensy tidbit of lore upon him.
0 -
Well, every killer is called 'The ..."
I don't think the devs would alter that key aspect of the game features for one killer/license. 'The Sephiroth' isn't so bad sounding lol

Alright, if you want a Killer title, then I guess there's two options:
"The Bogeyman" - This is because of his ability to instill great fear, trauma and suffering to others, essentially being a man of nightmares.
Or "The One-Winged Angel" - This is due to not only his literal title being that, but also the fact that he has enough influence to have such a title in the first place.
"The Sephiroth" sounds not bad, but it's also not good; it's silly.

When I thought of anything from Square being added, the first thing that came to mind was Aya Brea from Parasite Eve, but after seeing Final Fantasy on a survey for this game, the idea of Sephiroth terrorizing survivors sounds too good to pass up. You've got some great ideas here, i've got other ideas for maps. It'd be good to see Nibelheim while it's on fire, or Floors 67 and 68 of the Shinra Building in Midgar. The Shinra building is probably the scariest part of this game (at least it was in 1997), 67 was the science department along with prison cells, Jenovas body is stored on this floor, and this place becomes a bloody mess before you leave it in game. Floor 68 had Red XIII locked in a containment unit along with the control room, and if you want to make the map more vertical you can add in stair's going up to 70.
