I think DBD outgrew BHVR's capability to handle it.
For the most part BHVR never anticipated DBD growing as big as it has. If I remember correctly that was stated by one if the devs a while back, could be wrong though.
Whatever the case, we as a community are feeling their inability to handle this game. Whether it be through the copious amount if bugs that pop up every update, and sometimes take years to fix. through updates that seem to have very little thought to the balance of the changed object. Or through promises that never seem to be kept, as is the case with console optimization.
I want to see this game succeed, that's why I bother to be vocal on the forums. But I just don't think BHVR is a company that is capable of making DBD succeed anymore.

I disagree, and I think it's a testament to BHVR's ability to handle the game that it has only grown since launch, despite people saying stuff like what you just said all the time.

I disagree with your disagreeing, I know the devs are trying their best. But this update has highlighted the reasons BHVR isn't capable to me anymore.
They released a buggy as hell chapter ( again x9??) That made the game near unplayable for console users as a result of spaghetti code they have refused to clean up for years. The update even made PC players lag, which is a testament to how they can make even high end PC's struggle to run DBD.
Even with subsequent hotfixes it made the lag worse on consoles. While at least helping with PC's issues, if the forum goers aren't wrong.
Now they've activated what is supposed to be one of the 2 BIG events of the year. Only for that event to rob you of spent bloodpoints and shards, and the main objective of that event to be non functional on certain original characters. Not to mention how the event is a copy/paste of last years event with some extra stuff duct taped on. Yes they fixed those bugs, but it shouldn't have released in that state in the first place.

I fail to understand how bad events, buggy chapters, lack of transparency, useless visual downgrades, and straight failures to listen to the community are a testament to BVHR's ability.

It's nothing to do with what they can or can't handle, it'd the fact that the engine was so poorly coded and they are forced to keep adding more onto it to make sure their investors are seeing those quarterly numbers yet the foundation can't handle it.
Until BHV finally rewrite the game from the ground up it's gonna get worse and worse and no management can prevent it

The fact they keep pumping out content DLCs every 3 months and have it be a bugridden mess should show you that they are not able to handle the game.
They need to slow the ######### down. They're not Overkill, they can't just make a single map and say "it's done!"
They need to make DLCs beefier, but over a longer period of time. Not 3 months. 3 months is way too quick in dev time.

I'm not sure you wanna go there. My experience is usually bug-free, no matter the game, with rare exceptions. Furthermore, the fact that I don't experience them doesn't mean they aren't there. I recognize that they are, I just think, like with every other time* that people claimed the sky was falling, it's being blown out of proportion.
*Except when DbD apparently caused some consoles to shut down due to overheating. That was actually quite serious.

I feel like that boy cride wolf story is a bad representation. It shows more laziness and bitterness on the adults than that of the child being in the wrong. Taking it to the extreme, If you replace the child with a group of people and the wolf with something awful like sexual assault the story blames the victim, and it blames it out of actual laziness.
Now back down to earth with something significantly less serious, dbd. Is it fair to ignore people who raise valid concerns and have rightful emotions towards a product because of the few who were a bit too extra? That's blaming the victim, it's not something you should be numb to. That's why I say it's unhealthy

I'm not blaming anyone, nor am I ignoring valid concerns. I'm dismissing the notion that DbD would somehow be "better" (a nebulous term whose meaning depends on the person using it) if another developer had control of it. That's what I've said, is it not?

Orion is demonstrably false as well, they still haven't fixed the lag despite them "wOrKiNg On It" AND the anniversary event has bugs as well.
No other company consistently ads major issues every single update.

I've been with this game for 4 years, no other company has screwed up this much and are still being defended as much as BHVR.
If it were any other company I guarantee it would be different.

They've boasted about having more staff. The big stream a while back where they showed off the RE trailer with Meg getting thrown around had them actually saying "we increased our staff to 300".
Which looks bad on them no matter what because:
- They have... what, 250 people working on this game? 220? Why didn't they hide more coders? Or better ones? Why are they hiring more artists? We don't need artists, we need coders. We don't need more localizers either, getting this game in other countries should NOT be the first priority. If the game has issues such as major lag, those new players will either leave the game or ask for a refund.
- They hired people who don't work on the game... why are they boasting about it on a DBD stream then? Nobody cares about some higher ups that won't be working on DBD in the slightest. By not clarifying this, they make it sound like those new people are people who will be working on the game, or coordinating the team directly. If this isn't the case, it's misleading information.
- If what the forums says is true, and BHVR actually has 600 staff... why do they have 300 staff for advanced stuff? You should only need 100 or 150, maybe 200. And this would mean the 300 staff IS all game staff... how are they failing THIS badly then?

To me at least that's not how it read. The post is a complaint at heart with the solution of giving dbd to someone else. You're posts seemed to target the complaint and not the solution at face value. If there was a different intent then my b, I still disagree and find the argument even less sound in this different context. Why would the idea illicit such a numbed response? If anything it would be cool to just think what another dev team could do. What a AAA team could do, because let's be honest we've yet to see a AAA attempt at this genre.

Evolve was a AAA attempt at this genre. It failed because of corporate greed. Is that what you want for DbD?

Under a different team? No.
With a different team supplementing the current one? Yes.
The current team has created an excellent idea, and that's not something to scoff at. Dead by Daylight is an incredible idea with incredible potential. However, I do agree that it seems that the current team is unable to give it what it needs in order to realize that potential.
That is why I would be interested in BHVR outsourcing some of the coding and optimizing to a different team, but maintaining the design process in-house.

Evolve was a AAA producer hiring a AA developer. Turtle rock was not and still is not a AAA team. Hell Turtle rock didn't even make the most successful left for dead out of the 2. I'm as excited for back 4 blood as the next guy but I also know it's not a AAA product.

Attacking a company or it's devs is wrong.
Offering valid complaints is completely within reason, especially for a company that's screwed up as much as BHVR.
People on the forums often mistake valid complaints with attacks.

This. Destinys greatest expansion imo was forsaken. Forsaken was developed with the combined effort of 3 studios, not just bungie.

I dont know if they would be better under a different development team, but I can definitely say that it seems their priorities are in the wrong place. They seem to care more about pushing out new content than making sure that content actually works.
At the very least they need to hire outside help to come in and help them work on their code/optimization cause at this point they have shown an inability to fix these issues.

I don't think that BHVR is unable a project as big as DbD. I think the issue is more, that DbD became that big. They definitively didn't had in mind that the game will be a long life lasting game as a service with receiving a bunch of graphical updates with the ninth console generation.
Honestly, if Deathgarden would have been a success and would have experiences a similar growth than DbD, than I wouldn't have been surprised, if it would have been much more stable and less wonky from update to update, because I think that project was designed right from the beginning as a potential long lasting GAAS title compared to DbD.

Evolve died because the Monster player usually did within the first 2 minutes of every game when the Hunters became remotely competent.
Evolve was fundamentally flawed by concept having the 1 being weaker then the 4 and being easily kill-able from the beginning of the match even with the Monster's head start.

It is because of the devs the game is where its at. The good and the bad (but a lot more good). If bhvr wasn't handling DBD anymore it wouldn't be DBD.
I don't know their internal workings but maybe if the growth was unexpected they are looking to hire more people onto the team?
Bhvr has done an amazing job growing its game, collecting licenses, and creating original characters. I would hate to see what would happen of some soulless company took it... loot boxes, shrine gone, out of control balance changes. Talk about a nightmare!

Well don't worry BHV know until they rewrite the game to fix the horrific code it's built upon no knowledgeable company would want to buy it. Hell all they have to do is make their own DBD that's written properly and they will be miles ahead of them while they wait for this dec of cards to fall down.
I'm just hoping they have enough sense to realize they don't have long left to do something because theirs not much more this client can handle tacced on to it.

My sentiments exactly, I'm just worried that they can't afford it and they are trapped in a quarterly target cycle that's actually making it impossible to address the 18 foot elephant in their success that lies in the base code.

At this point they can either stop and fix it, prioritizing the games health for longevity. Or keep going and hope everything works in the short term.

Well there's 2 potential issues that could be preventing then from coming to logical conclusion, the first is the investor cycles which I mentioned before, where they have to be constantly producing sellable content to hit sales numbers which is likely.
Second can be the scenario where the company is full of managers and team leads who constantly downplay every situation to the people above them to make themselves seem more competent and that everything's under control leading to a lot of distilled information spread throughout the company ( ironically a big factor in the cyber punk situation ) and game companies are rampant with this problem.

feels like that's what's going on. bug ridden mess after mess and more outfits for sales. take the artists and make em playtest on different hardware if they are really just not seeing these bugs until live. boast about hiring more people and release broken crap 4 times a year. over time patience will wear down. Don't matter though got the money for dress up and suckered more in with the dlc.
I would like this game to be around for many more years but this consistent lack of stability is far from conducive to that.
