Wish Killers had a hook counter per Survivor...
I do my best to spread the love. With the event going on, I want to do that doubly so in order to let people get as many points as possible without just throwing the game. That said, it always seems like I accidentally off someone well before the rest because I can't remember how many times I've hooked them. Would be nice to just look and go "Oh hey, this guy I just downed is on second hook already. I'll leave him as slowdown while I find someone else to hook."

Sorry BHVR thinks it'll encourage tunneling.

That’s noble of you. I do my best to keep count. It only gets tricky when survivors wear the same clothing. Then I try to pay attention to the gamer tags.

I agree killer should have the counter too but dev think this will encourage tunneling. The funny thing this dont change anything exept adding more thing for the killer to remember compare to survivor

"it'D EncOUrAgE tUNNeLinG."

I have the same wish. During the event I don’t go for the kill-hook at all unless it’s by accident (twin survivors and such).
But otherwise, if I’m your killer, you’re GOING to escape. After your 2 hooks, I’ll even drop you off at the crown if I find it!

Yeah, I've hooked a couple people and killed them without intending to. Yesterday, it was an Adam who I thought I only hooked once. And the other was a Meg who I DID only hook once, but they let her go to second stage, and I didn't realize it.

i think that's a dumb idea. doesn't add or help anything. i just had a game where i thought the Ace was on his second hook, he died on hook. i said oh well.i would hate for such a thing on my screen

While I’m sure not every killer would abuse it to tunnel, a lot would.
3 -
But its important that YOU remember who has been hooked and who hasnt.
Not the survivors though.
As an aside, i was going to let yui and kate go last game but i miscounted and hooked the wrong person. Yui died :/

There is.

I've gotten better at keeping track in my head, but I still err and accidentally kill the wrong players every once in a while. I'm one of the people that'd use feature this for good, but there's no question a lot of players would use it for evil, so I get why it doesn't exist.
Funnily enough, if I want to play super nice without worrying about accidentally sacrificing someone, I can always bring a mori. If the option to kill shows up, it means it's time to leave that survivor alone.

The killers tunneling dont need a counter to tell them who theyve been tunneling all game. They know, theyve been chasing that person all game. Bogus answer

making the game easier to understand for less experienced players?
how dare you suggest that!

When games are going really well some of us like to spread out hook states. Thats what it helps. Thats the only thing it helps

learn to count then
1 -
Then why dont survivors have to learn to count 🤔

Every time I see your name I giggle. Thank you for that Stibbity ♡
and yes. I want the hook counter for the same reason. When I am killer I just want everyone to have a good time... but I am dumb and if there are two Megs I forget which one was hooked when and someone bites the dust too soon.
Tunnlers will tunnel regardless. A hook counter won't change that. It will help the rest of us know whats up tho ;3;

u can do it if u use your brain.

cause survivors are soft

I know, right? Kills get me no points, so now that I've been power-deranked by event bully squads I've just been trying to go for 8-hook trials but for ######### sakes it's so bloody annoying trying to rember who'se been hooked and who I'm going to slug instead

Well, that's dumb, as the lack of information goes both ways. Ever have someone with the same character and you loose track of the health states? You can accidently get people out of the game quicker as well. There's 2 other reason why that's flawed logic.
- If you're actually tunneling someone, you're not loosing track of the hook states, because you're going after one guy. You only loose track of hook states if you hook more than one survivor. From then on, prioritizing someone that happens to be death hook over someone that isn't if you run into 2 survivors is simply not throwing the game, not tunneling. BHVR can't, simply can't refuse to balance the game around 12 hooks, but withhold info from killers in an attempt to force a 12 hook game. Even the people that think that the kill balance is an ok state know that the game is poorly balanced for the 12 hooks.
- Not knowing who's on death hook can make endgame plays more difficult. There's no reason for survivors to risk staying for someone on death hook, so in that scenario, you actively want to put someone not on death hook on a hook to entice the survivors for a greedy save. Guess what a lack of info on hook states does?

Which is a silly conclusion.

So you're saying that without this mechanic, killers won't tunnel?
3 -
They had good intentions when doing so, but they were certainly worrying too much.
At least they cared about the players' experiences, hoping that it'd reduce tunneling.

Yes! But BHVR doesn't know their own game enough to realize these obvious flaws or don't care enough/don't want to put in the work.
Unfortunate.

I wouldn't even mind getting deranked if it did anything, but I have been facing higher mmr players since rank 16 to be honest. Being 12 doesn't change anything. Still get red rank twitch TV people in my lobbies on week into the game. Lol.

On AU theres a bit of a hard divide between ranks 5 and 6. If you're rank 6 or below, you tend to go against the not-sweaty-but-not-bad players. Rank 5 or above and its mostly red rank opponents that have zero chill.
Of course, I still get that now that I'm rank 9, which is why I'm rank 9, but it's definitely a thing.

You just have to remember hooks like we all did before.
Nothing really changed for killer, just got an annoying hook counter which is worthless and cannot be turned off

Well, you go one step further than I do.
While I do like to hook everybody at least once befor I go for the second and third hook, I never look at the gamer tag. If I find a lobby with 4 Claudettes in full prestige then I will just hunt whoever gets in my way. This is on the survivors in my opinion.
Still noble from you that you make the effort, I could not do it.

Yes, this would be great. I like to get max hooks in everyone every game, but sometimes I play in autopilot and dont really keep track of who I hooked. A hook counter in that case would make it really easy for me (and for the majority of killers who like to get BP).
The argument that it will "encourage tunneling" is bullshit. If a killer is tunneling they don't simply forget about the survivor they wanted to kill, how can someone say something so stupid? I really hope that's not something said by BHVR

I have been desperately repeating the names of survivors I have on their Death Hook like some kind of demented murdering Rain Man as I try to not Death Hook anyone when cakes are in play.
*Yes, xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx has been hooked twice. Definitely hooked twice. Twice xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx has been hooked. I've hooked xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx twice. Definitely, definitely twice.*
Alright, I took down xXx_DwelfMain69_xXx again!
...
Crap, is he on his Death Hook?
