Who else is waiting for MMR to (re)start playing regularly?

I gave up on playing killer a while ago (except to get the crowns) because I was ranking up too easily and going up against survivors who were quite clearly much more skilled than I.

When I can be bothered to play DbD at all, I play survivor with a friend of mine (2-man SWF) for a couple trials and then go back to playing Stellaris or whatever, because we either get survivors who have no idea what they're doing (think "following the killer around while injured and Self-Caring from time to time" bad) or killers who stomp us (one sacrifice and multiple hooks before we can even repair two generators, that sort of thing).

Given what I've seen of MMR, when it's fully released, it'll greatly improve my experience and actually let me enjoy DbD in larger doses (and both roles). Who else feels this way?

For the killer role it's gonna be much more harder since you are going to get placed vs people who are more competent, rather then getting those mixed ranked matches that people often get ones in a while if you are in red ranks. But yeah when I played during their MMR tests it feels like survivors that I would get placed with seemed to be more on my level.

Nah, it's going to be better. If MMR works properly (and the tests, to me, indicated it was working properly), you'll be matched with people who play at the same level as you do, no matter how hard all of you are going. In other words, if someone tries super hard to win, but they can only meet your casual effort, then you'll be matched together.

The only downfall with that logic is that the devs have been talking about MMR for god knows how long now. I wager the next gen consoles will have been out for a full year before it even goes live. They keep saying that ranks will no longer matter and that instead it will be used as a reward system, but no one knows when that will be. They keep testing it, but giving no actual concrete information on how it works, let alone when it'll be released.

I mean no offense when I say this, but you need to grow some thick skin and just grin and bear the disaster that is matchmaking right now. Use the event to your advantage to accrue a lot of blood points. Once it's over, then you can go back to ignoring the game, and honestly so too will I.

"Mixed ranks once in a while"

I feel like those are a majority of my games as killer already, and i rarely fall below a 3k because of it.

Though games are going to be harder if you like to 4k consistently, I definitely think that its better in the long run. Balance and fun wise.

For skilled killers MMR is going to be horrible. 5 minute games arent really that fun and unless you're playing a killer that ignores the boundaries of the game there really isnt much you can do against a team of skilled survivors. We will see what happens. If it helps them balance the game for higher play then maybe its a good thing in the long run but who knows how many years it'll take them to fix it.

I think I'd rather have fun when playing video games, but thank you for the "advice".

Skilled killers are going to go up against people of equal skill. This is only a problem for those who were used to being matched with underskilled people and got easy games as a result.

There's actually some proof that it might already be on. CoconutRTS uploaded a video yesterday to test it, as he kept getting ridiculously hard matches on his Huntress, but the moment he switched to Twins he got baby Dwights all over. While not a solid proof, I must say I've also been having much easier games on killers I rarely play.

I'm indifferent to it, playing vs good survivors was more fun, but my blight Queue time started to approach 5-10 minutes and even that was starting to get too long for me

Yeah win or lose, I like games that are close calls where it feels like it could go either way for most of the match and I got a lot more of those with killer with MMR on instead of just stomp or be stomped. It's just more interesting to me

Still playing a decent amount of survivor though because I've found a fun swf group, most killer I've done recently after adepting nemesis is kyf with them.

Yes, I'm waiting for MMR with baited breath because although I "main" killer, I am now playing more survivor because if I rank up too high I will be a walkover for red rank SWFs. I make sure that I play a few console Nurse and Trickster games on the 12th of each month just to make sure I lose a pip or two to drop my rank a reasonable amount in rank reset.

I think facing matches way above my skill set does not help improve my game. I want to face solo survivors that are moderately better than me or SWFs that are significantly worse for that 2 kills and 2 escapes average the devs want. (As opposed to the 4 kills or 4 escapes that I get right now that also averages out to 2 kills and 2 escapes - but in a less fun way.)
