I've noticed this harmful trend for a while regarding Killer powers in the 1v1 and the 1v4
Killers like Deathslinger, Spirit, Trickster, Twins, Nemesis, etc. who are extremely powerful and at times oppressive in the 1v1 but lacking in the 1v4 are often negatively received by both sides, Survivors because they find the Killer to be extremely boring and unfair and Killers because they're lacking in the 1v4 which ends up in them losing multiple gens despite fast chase times.
However, Killers like Blight, Hillbilly, and Oni who are very strong in the 1v1 and 1v4 but not overly oppressive in either are often regarded as the pinnacle of balance and are almost always positively received by both survivors and killers. Survivors like them because in the chase they're fair and balanced and give plenty of opportunities to outplay them and Killers like them due to how powerful they can be when played correctly, not to mention they're able to contest gens well with their mobility.
Point is that the chase is the most fun part of the game and BHVR creating Killers like Deathslinger is only going to hurt the game. If you cause one role, whether its survivor or killer, to be too strong in the chase then the game becomes very unfun for the side getting abused. Think about it, if you removed the chase aspect from DBD what do you get? You just get mindlessly holding M1 and W. Does that sound like a fun game to you? Just holding down two buttons occasionally? And no, I'm not trying to say 1v1 Killers are overpowered, but just because they're technically "balanced" doesn't mean they're healthy for the game. Just because something is balanced doesn't make it healthy.
This brings me to my final point but I believe that BHVR should just stop creating Killers that are too strong in the 1v1 but lacking in the 1v4 because they're unhealthy for the game.
TL;DR: 1V1 Killers like Deathslinger and Spirit are unhealthy for the game while 1V4 Killers like Blight, Oni, and Hillbilly are healthy for the game. Thus, BHVR should stop making Killers like Deathslinger and make more Blights.

However, Killers like Blight, Hillbilly, and Oni who are very strong in the 1v1 and 1v4
Hillbilly & Oni are strong in the 1v1? I can somewhat understand Billy... But how is Oni strong at all in the 1v1 scenario? He's literally an m1 killer without his power. Even then, it can be avoided to some degree.
Spirit being an exception, I honestly think BHVR needs to take a big, long break from releasing ranged killers.

I keep noticing that survivors saying only killers that are fun which are extremely easy to counter.
Oni and Hillbilly I think they are one the rarest killers on higher ranks, because takes extreme ammount skill to play well, yet the rewards are worse than with Spirit, which takes almost no effort

Don't survivors often call Clown and Legion boring despite them also being regarded as some of the weakest killers?
12 -
Your mistake is that you say 'chases are the most fun and making killers like slinger is going to hurt the game'
Killers like slinger, twins etc are for people that don't take joy out of chases on either side. they are there to achieve a greater appeal and challenge players to develop various playstyles.
If you have the most fun from chases, good for you. But not everyone does and having killers where the counter is stealth or anything else is not going to hurt the game.
what is going to hurt the game is the insistence that only chases are fun and trying to force that onto other players and the devs (because we'll end up with more tricksters who could have had an interesting ability if the devs would not have listened to those saying only chases are fun)

when oni has blood fury up his 1v1 is incredibly strong, especially with scalped topknot
3 -
If chases were the only fun part of the game then literally no survivor would complain about being tunneled.
There's nothing wrong with some killers having stronger 1v1s at the cost of the 1v4.

Play Pallets, Windows & stay around corners. You can also hide to counter his entire power.
Oni's inta down is not that hard to avoid as people think.
Something I like to abuse is staying around Breakable Walls when an Oni is charging at me or charging his insta down. They'll get instantly vacuumed into breaking the wall, the same thing with Billy, however, Blight seems to have the worst vacuum... Oni suffers from the same Issue as Billy, if the survivor is in the pallet vaulting animation for 0.1 seconds, the game will break the pallet & the survivor will stop the animation and instantly start running. This is enough to trigger me into a Blood Fury.
Oni is powerful, topknot is more powerful, sure, but that only matters if u know how to properly use these things.

Exactly. The argument "only chases are fun" is entirely subjective. Running around the same pallet for a minute before the survivor uses "dead hard into pallet drop" is not fun and having killers that can stop this with their power is not a bad thing imo

I think you left out some points of the game.
First of all there is not only the chase. You can also play hide-and-seek with the Killer and that can be exciting too. Sure this does not fit everybodys tast but there are more than enough people who like this playstyle and have fun with it.
The thing about Deathslinger and Trickster is that survivors always try to play the same way against them as they would against a normal M1 Killer. Trickster especialy has more than enough meaningful counterplay, however you need to think ahead. Just mindlessly running to the next loop without thinking about hiding will get you killed and will make Trickster look oppressive.
Same for Deathslinger: Slinger takes skill to aim and shot. Maybe his projectile could be a bit slower to make room for more juking, but he is by no means more unbeatable than any other Killer. Same for Twins who can be outplayed quiet nicely with jukes and kicks to Victor. Also you can take Vici away from Charlotte to counter her as she is a simple M1 killer without him.
Some of those issues are caused by survivors not trying to outplay the Killers in a different way and just expecting to use their usual tactics against them. Then when that tactic fails they blame the Killers power to be too overpowered without looking if a different approach could have saved them.
This is not saying that there could not be some more impications fo counterplay for some Killers or some tweaks.
Funny enough I agree with your conclusion. Blight is a work of art and they should make more Killers like him.

Issues is you have to add mobility into every single killer otherwise there 1 v 4 potential is awful. This is mostly due to the absolutely awful amount of massive maps which is continuously increasing every new map. Which makes just holding w extremely effective which is frustrating. This is not even talking about the sheer number of obstructions that has gradually been adding more los blockers that hurts the so called "fair" ranged killer like huntress worse. This puts ranged killers in a bit of a crap position. They don't have the speed to keep up with the 1 v 4 challenge. You can say a lot of modern killers are unfair in the 1 v 1 but if you examine map design (breakable walls, large numbers of safe pallets, giant maps, additional obstructions) you can see most maps are built around the killer having an overwhelming powerful advantage. There are many survivors I have encountered who abhor killers who are always on them and prefer killers who are less mobile. Makes no sense to me figured the chase would be what players would want from dbd.
If you did peel back the power of a lot of these unfair killers then the killers would have to deal with the abyssmal map design. This game needs a massive overhaul. However the direction there choosing for modern killers and map design is deliberate make no mistake. It would be best if they addressed these issues in one patch but considering it would require map overhauls and that not factoring in general survivor skill improving which if like me you played this game for 2 years will know the quality of survivor is so much better. (granted it has dipped lately due to what I assume is console performance issues). In conclusion dbd is maturing as a game and what has worked no longer works and a new type of design is required.

What else is fun exactly about playing survivor? Pretty much either you get chased or it's M1 simulator.
If some killers are too weak against good loopers, that's more of a map design and gen speed issue than a killer design issue.
Killers like Deathslinger are the reason why the devs are probably never gonna touch gen rushing and map sizes; like what are you gonna do? You decrease these things and someone like him is probably gonna become very busted.

If all we had was chasing Killers, i'd quit immediately. Chasing is ######### boring.
1 -
I don't know what your taking about spirit is great in the 4v1 🤣🤣🤣
2 -
Blight, Billy and Oni are essentially the same killers with very minor differences on how to loop them... If every killer was like these 3 it'd get boring pretty fast.
I have fun winning the macro game. Chases are fun but the best part imo is outplaying the killer as a team and finishing the gens. That's probably why I don't mind any killer, I like facing all of them.

He's very easy to counter. Just don't wander about in the open whilst blood fury on and hug the walls at loops. When his power is gone, he's back to D tier. He's so survivor dependent

Killers should be stronger in the 1v1 situation but struggling more in the 1v4
Yet on its current state, the game allows survivors to be stronger on the 1v1 and 1v4 vs a lot of killers
And some killers that Should be good on 1v1 are still bad and struggles twice as much
Many survivors also choose if a killer is fun or unfun to face toward on how much they can loop them, Slinger counter loops so hes unfun but Oni cant so hes fun you know?
(Yes there are exceptions)
If you want survivors to be stronger in chase, so 1v1, you gotta let your killer catch up on the 1v4 (better map traveling with like...portals ? More help toward gens...)
Freddy is the pure unfun, strong on the 1v1 and 1v4 with powers to catch on the survivor in loops and catch on gens far away, for exemple
2 -
I stopped caring about this subject because most people refuse to learn and adapt over those types of killers. Spirit being the exception.

i don't think the oni players you are playing against are very good
6 -
Well you cant 1 hit down them if you cant find them. On Haddonfield, you can repair the basement and house gens which again is hard for Oni to demon dash around. He's a beast when it works though.

Yeah, I have a list of killers to retort this opinion.
Both versions of Freddy, both versions of Doctor, Legion, Twins, Hag, and now people complain about Wraith. If a killer has a 1v4 power that's moderately effective, they will typically be hated by survivors or have a significant subsection of survivors hating them as well. Doctor was, at one point, the most hated killer in the game when his power was almost entirely a 1v4 power. The "community" will always have something to complain about. Survivors hating killers because they have strong 1v1 powers is a false narrative. That's what content creators hate. There's a difference.

no good oni is going to pop blood fury if he doesn't see any survivors, then once he downs the first person he has infectious fright
0 -
yes, for clown, he is strong at loops by making safe pallets unsafe, so you predrop and hold W. legion...... idk, hes pretty fun for me.
the strong killers that are strong at 1v1's, they have a similar counter play, predrop pallet and run. its balanced but not fun. clown just has the weakest version of this 1v1 potential.

thats what I'm saying. good in the 1v1 boring good in the 4v1 boring
1 -
So, if a chase is not fun, what do you enjoy in DbD?
I keep reading this frequently, but i never saw a killer explaining what he enjoys instead.
I as a killer LOVE the chase and i totally understand, when survivors want fair odds in the 1v1 scenario, so do i (that should mean if they are more skilled then the killer, they should last very long)

Jumpscaring the ######### out of people is always fun which is why I main hag and spirit
0 -
Fair enough, i like that too, but its for sure not the main reason i play killer. It is a small part of the experience, the chase is in general much more interesting and fun at the same time.. for me at least.

Please stop dragging Nemesis into it. Demogorgon and Huntress both have stronger, far more oppressive 1v1's. In fact, this entire model of killer is based on Huntress.
