Very little content patches - What I think about BHVR's Work
As the title says, I am forced to make a post on this topic and I hope that BHVR will wake up some day after almost 5 years.
Throughout the years BHVR have been releasing a series of patches that to me personally some have been very interesting with many changes but we are going to focus on the last years and this last year and last patches that we have had.
As a player, since 2016 everything seems very boring to me now ... 5 years with the mechanics of 2016 and with hardly any patches that catch my attention. The thing is, we do go to the official forum from patch 4.0.0 to 4.7.0 THERE IS NOTHING ... (disappointing)
We are going to patch 4.7.0, we could see the previous ones and it is the same type of content (very few changes) however we are going to see the latest patches:
- Review of the Huntress Addons (a few)
- Demogorgon Power and Addons Review (a few changes)
- Nerf Twins.
- Nerf Freddy.
- New Mechanic Wiggle Hook (skill checks)
Do you think enough changes for a game of this type? For me, NOOO. We continue with the next patches.
Later comes 5.0.0 (Nemesis) What did we have in this patch?
- DLC (NEMESIS)
and .....? ¿? Nothing else ...
Now we continue with the 5.1.0 patch (PTB) that would arrive on Wednesday and the content that we would have is .....
- Buff trickster
- New Visual Models (few characters)
- Improvement of the response of the Server regarding Hits, Grabs etc ..
and .... ¿? ¿? ¿? ¿? ¿?
Seriously? It seems to me very little content for the time that the game takes, the only reason that gives me these patches is that the developers are very slow because they do not see necessary changes to the game and they need almost 1 year to apply them. From day 1 that the trickster came out, many of the players asked for changes because the killer was in the trash, and just today they communicate changes, I don't understand anything.
The question is ... when will a big patch arrive with ... real changes? Changes to the (gens), new mechanics preserving the essences of the generators, revision of the totems, revision of the kicks gens of the killers, complete modification of many perks, changes to several weak killers, revision again of other maps, RNG, and many other things ...
I haven't seen any of this in a long time, and will keep waiting for a BIG PATCH that will never happen.

It's because they have no serious competition to make them fear they will lose players to. I hope a competitor does come along soon, make a damn good asymmetrical game and then bhvr will start to ramp up their work and give, or at least compromise, the community what they have been begging for for quite a while now.

If I were a dev, I would've postponed the character visual update until I rework all maps. Now they started another visual update project ON TOP of the already existing ones.
Just where in the hell are the priorities of these guys?

Your mistake is in assuming game developers are the ones who make the decisions. That only works when the company is comprised 100% of game developers in every position (so PR is handled by game developers, there are no shareholders, and so on). DbD developers are beholden to executive wishes.

For this reason a boycott has started in which for 3 months people will not spend any money on this game.
At the end of the day it's the only game of BHVR, they tried to make another game and it completely failed, we decide if DBD continues or not. If we stopped paying them for 3 months, for 3 months they would lose their only way of earning income.

I'm sure new players join the game and more veteran people leave for a while waiting for new and big patches, the game has reached numbers of 100k ..

But didnt they all ready make thousands off of DLC and skins? What difference would 3 months really make? They already make heaps of sales. And the vocal community is a small fraction of the actual player base I think.

You can do whatever you want, nobody is forcing you. Nothing says this works, but to say that BHVR is doing a good job with the game is simply to be overly ignorant. Better to do this than say "w0w but th1s isn't g0nn4 w0rk!!11!".
