What do you need to improve on to be a better player?

This forum is usually awash with threads begging to "Nerf perk/killer/SWF/etc.". This thread isn't about that. Instead of blaming losses on the game, more likely, the reason for those losses is located somewhere in the mirror -- or at least mine are. (Obviously, there are current optimization issues, bugs, and other things that are causing problems -- this is not meant to ignore those, but meant to be a discussion assuming a better reality where all of those things were fixed).

So the question is simple -- what do YOU need to do to become a better player? The question applies to whether or not you play only one role or both. The people who post here who are an Otzdarva or ZubatLel-level player, for example, are few and far between. For the rest of us -- what would you like to get better at doing?

For myself -- As survivor, I'm barely competent at looping. I have trouble identifying tile layouts to figure out where the pallet has spawned, and what's the optimal way of running the loop (I swear I constantly am trying to loop T&L walls backwards, lol). I've gotten better over time, but I need more practice at this more than anything. I also have a bad habit of trying to stealth when I should be making distance on the approaching killer, and trying to make distance when I should be attempting stealth. (And I'm a magnet for finding the basement somehow as well).

As killer, I need to focus better on knowing when to give up chase on someone at a strong area, or when it's someone who just is simply better than I am. It's hard to let go of a chase, especially if the person I'm after is injured, and committing too long to the wrong chase has definitely gotten me beat before. My mindgame tactics need work as well. And embarrassingly enough, I still get spun and miss the person right in front of me, costing me valuable seconds trying to get a down (and playing The Pig as often as I do, that's time I can't afford to waste).

So -- what part of your game needs work to make you better overall?

Oh i very much know i should give up on some chases, especially cause i main Wraith.

But i just can't abandon a chase, it's not in my nature.

As survivor, i have difficult time with looping well and keeping the chase longer. most of the time killers do mind games and i fell for it. i do a lot of mistakes while being chased and I'm afraid I'm the weakest survivor of all.

As killer, i need to go back to it and learn from the beginning.

    I rather stay a survivor main 😅

As killer I need to work on my ######### awareness. I'll be watching other people play and see them be like "Somebody's here" and they'll find them and get a free easy hit and I'll be like #########? I didn't hear anything. I didn't see anything. How'd they know that?

Makes me question how many survivors hide practically right under my nose without me noticing. There are times where I do catch the sound of someone breathing, but I'm sure most of the time the ambience of the game has my ears too occupied to notice.

But that's why I run whispers almost all the time.

As survivor, learn to have more faith in my teammates & I try but they make it so hard.

As killer, learn how to deal with loops again because my honey moon stage with nurse is over. I'm taking it easy and slow so I started with spirit.

For both sides, patience. Not whiffing a hit by jumping the gun too early, or getting tunnel vision in desperation for pressure.

Or not being patient in chase, and getting mindgamed and downed.

Tracking seems to be my biggest weakness as a killer, it's not terrible but could be WAY WAY better. As a Blight I should sometimes just m1 when the hit is guaranteed instead of being permanently in a lethal rush as soon as the cooldown is over.

As a survivor I should learn to be less greedy on certain loops and learn to play certain tiles better. I love to greed pallets/windows even if it is not needed, which sometimes leads to avoidable hits.

Something that affects both sides is my crappy internal clock. I can estimate gen progress as a killer but usually less so as a survivor and certain perks that can be waited out usually make me waste time by making me wait extra long, just to be sure.
