Would You Want Rework Survivor Gameplay?

Title.


For me, yes. Cleansing and repairing are boring for me. Chases are fun part of survivors. But we have so much loop breaker killers now. They succeeded to kill best part of survivors, now survivors have new boring meta: Shift + W. I am not judging people because for this. Shift + W works well to waste killers time. I am blaming devs for boring design.

So yes, i hope they will rework survivors and they will make this more fun.

    i would like to see Survivor be made to be much more interesting and interactive, the issue is how would you do it without it feeling intrusive?

    Rework chase mechanic and gens? yes definitely.

    Yup. Because generators are boring. And old chase mechanics are not working againts most new killers.

    I’d love a rework to gens and how you repair them but the game has gone on for 5 years so it’s unlikely

    I watched King's video today and i think these idea of items can improve gameplay.

    Along that more objectives would be cool but not only for survivors.

    The problem isnt with antiloop killers. The truth is that most people playing Deathslinger, Doc or PH absolutely ######### suck and the whole shift-W meta has its roots with Huntress, Clown, Freddy and even Nurse. I still remember all the people encouraging me to "make distance" on those killers because it's "devestating" to them.

    Holding W has been a big part of DbD forever and it's for all the wrong reasons that it's suddenly so popular. It's not because that's the only counterplay these killers have - when was the last time you saw someone bitching about a god Huntress - it's because it's an insanely effective tactic that I've been dealing with on the regular since Oni was released that the community was always inevitably going to pick up on.

    • Reduce map size, nerf Killer 1v1 power. So Killer has harder time to down but easy to pressure many Survivors
    • Give Survivor something to interact with to weaken Killer's power.

    Example: instead Huntress gets Hatchet from Locker, replaced with ~10 Hatchet lockers around the map. Survivors can pay time to open a Hatchet locker, do a hard skill check or so, then that Hatchet locker is nerfed. When Huntress reload at that exact locker, she gets 3 hatchets instead of 5. After that the nerf on that lock is removed, Survivors have to interact again.

    So, Survivors can pay time to weaken Huntress's power instead of doing Gen. Huntress can also hunt with 3 hatchets, or reload the second time for 5 hatchets.

    • Adding Gas between Gen

    Survivors collect Gas at Gas stations for 10sec (10 charges), then fill up into a Gen for another 10sec. Gen requires 20 charges (fill Gas 2 times) to able to finish 100%. Gen time reduced to 40sec.

    Killer hitting Survivors who has Gas will deplete their Gas (they have to collect Gas again). Killer kicking Gen doesnt regress Gen, but instantly deplete Gas in the Gen


    Whats come good with this idea?

    Basically hitting a Survivor is somehow "regress their Objective" because of depleting Gas they're carrying. Make Killers prefer to hit multiple Survivors rather can tunneling one.

    Survivors M1 time is the same (2x 10sec collecting Gas ; 2x 10sec filling Gas to Gen ; 40sec Gen). But the travel time between makes the gameplay more fun.

    Survivor gameplay has evolved quite a lot over the past five years:

    • At the very very beginning, people were just hiding... and Wraith was op because of his invisibility
    • People were also camping pallets, EVERY single pallet. And they looped infinites.
    • Then the pallet looping started, many people were holding 72hrs responsible for this ;)
    • Against Nurse people were already told to hold W.
    • With Clown's release people started pre-dropping pallets.
    • Nowadays, with more and more killers having a power that helps them with pallet / window loops, people started running and pre-dropping. They also found out, this works against a lot of other killers too.

    I'm actually wondering how survivors will play in one year.

    This. It amazes me people are starting to realize what some of us have known for a ling time. Were these people trying to loop clown befire? 🤔😂
