I don't want to run meta survivor perks
I don't want to have to bring perks like decisive, borrowed time, unbreakable, etc. But if a killer decides they want to tunnel or camp or slug, then those perks would have saved me and my friends. If a killer decides to be nicer though, then the perks are useless and I was better off running a more fun and unique build I wanted to run. But I can't just choose to have fun killers, I can't tell the other killers that they're playing wrong, and I don't want to bring perks out of revenge to a killer who probably didn't deserve it. I just want everyone to have fun with this game but some people only think about themselves. Am I really just supposed to bring nothing but meta perks every game just to counter this? I can't tell a killer not to camp me to death, or not to tunnel my friend to death, I can't tell them they're ruining the game for me and my friends. I know there's no clear answer to this question, it's just a fact of the game. But if I do nothing but bring meta perks, suddenly I'm the toxic player. And if I'm not the toxic player, I'm the victim of toxicity and I just should have been toxic in the first place. It's a lose lose scenario. I don't want to frustrate killers, I don't teabag, I don't bring flashlights, I don't bring keys, I try to play killer too, I understand both sides. Yet they always treat everyone as if they're the same toxic people they saw last match, never giving anyone the benefit of the doubt and not caring whether they have fun. I know there's no point to saying any of this or what I'm about to ask, but can toxic killers and survivors just... Stop? Stop hurting each other. Stop hating each other. Survivors, you don't need to teabag, the killer is a person just like you. You don't need to click your flashlight more than once at a time. You don't need to equip a key last second before the match starts. You shouldn't run in the killers face just because you have decisive. You can just leave at the gates like a normal person, or stand there at least if you want to give the killer some hits. Your pointing and beckoning emotes are to signal to randoms, not the killer. This is the reason me, my friends, and all the nice survivors get ######### and turn into people like you. This is the reason why killers have no mercy towards anyone, they stop caring whether anyone deserves it, and just say if it's one of you, it's all of you. I get that there are nice killers, I really do, I'm not denying their existence nor is this directed towards them in any way. This is not a message to all killers and all survivors, you know if this message is for you. Stop being dumb. Stop being #########. The world is filled with people like your family, your friends, everyone you cherish. To be an ass just because you think you might never meet that person is just so childish and sad.
TL;DR For the love of God, just stop being toxic. The devs can only slap your wrists so hard.

Asking both sides to set aside their pride is basically asking them to stop playing. In a game like this, it's impossible for the competitive aspect not to take over in people's minds, especially since it's such a loop. Survivors bully a killer, that killer goes onto bully survivors, who then go on and bully more killers, etc. There's no way to solve this problem unless everyone in the world just becomes zombies who do everything the same way with no emotions.

Holy text wall Batman. Sadly anymore you're kinda forced in that direction. I can't take BT off anymore. Even then alot of times they tunnel through it.

Personally, when I play survivor, I cannot play without ds and unbreakable, I hate being on the ground or being tunneled, but, I always switch my others 2 perks to not get bored all the time

Great thing about Survivor is it can be played with no perks and escape is still possible. Smart decisions and a cautious approach can do far more than a second chance granted by perks.

The only meta perk I bring is UB. Well, no, BT as well. I bring that, cuz unhooks can get hairy. That said, I have never felt required to bring the other second chance perks. I also rarely use UB. It mostly just serves as a recovery booster, and on a blue moon, I'll pop it to get up. Make that 4K slugger work for their melty skulls.
Used to run DH, got tired of Exhausted on the ground. Never used it at distance to connect a loop, cuz I don't like that.
Tried DS, it just made me do stupid plays because it was a safety net, so I got rid of it. Now I just make good plays and rarely need it.
If I get tunneled, eh. I'll get over it in 3 seconds.

Aftercare is kind of nice if you manage to get everyone’s aura without being hooked.
Autodidact is a blast if you ever get blessed with skill checks but 90% of the time I’ll get 3 tokens then literally heal 30 health states on teammates without a single skill check popping up the rest of the match.
I have had situations when I had 5 tokens, running WGLF, and we’ll make it still active.. actually got a skill check on a fresh slug and it was like old insta syringe.

I prefer the term apathetic, and yes, that is how I do it. I do not care if you bag or click lights. Whatever. I will play nice for the match out of good sportsmanship, but if I have a sacrifice challenge, well... Once those gates open... Someone is staying go keep me company. I don't care who, but I do get oh so lonely with all these hooks and no corpses to hang on them!

As a killer main I've learned that showing survivors mercy is not kindness. They don't want your mercy, they want you to be a piece of crap. That way they can feel justified being crappy back at you.

In every vs. multiplayer game, I ALWAYS stray away from the meta. I naturally flock to characters, weapons, perks, maps, strategies, etc. even before I know their meta status. Once I know they’re meta, I usually use or learn them last. For example, Overwatch fans- I’ve been playing that game for two years- I still haven’t learned to play with McCree, Rheinhardt, Genji, Hanzo, or Junkrat. I just learned this year to play with Lucio. I knew all the other healers before him. DBD? Been playing for 3 years now. Just this year I played with Laurie and used Decisive Strike for the first time. I prestiged her to level 1. I gave her Dead Hard as well, deciding why not kill 2 birds with one stone and see what the hype is about. Unfortunately for me, Dead Hard was bugged again this year and apparently isn’t as consistent on console, so that was an interesting experience lol. It’s summer time & I haven’t used the two perks again since. I do have builds plan for them, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. I’m working on what the kids are calling “meme builds” like perks targeting totems.
I say live a little and experiment with new creative builds. You already know what it’s like to “win” countless times, I’m sure. Now try to have some fun escaping with non meta perks. Go in there with the mindset that the odds are stacked against you and there’s a good chance you won’t make it out, but you’re going to do your best and play with what you have. I just started to really appreciate Diversion. Man that perk saved my butt a few times! Especially when I need the killer to stop camping an open gate while I’m injured. Very satisfying to get value like that.

Id love not to run DS or BT but you're actually forced since it camps/tunnel 9 games on 10
