Why hag traps turn survivors
This is so dumb imo. Why is it when a survivor triggers a hags trap it turns you toward it making you run to her. It's bad enough with all the freezing that really dosent help. Giving her basicly free hits and downs now
Comments
-
its to simulate the "jump scare " effect or replace it,traps would be useles if they didnt do that
8 -
The hag merely wants your critique on her marvelous artwork
10 -
they were designed to be a jumpscare.
honestly, thats an incredibly outdated design IMO.
10 -
The thing I hate about hag traps is if I am using SB or lithe as a trap goes off. The camera jerks me to face the trap and because I am sprinting, it often causes me to run into the hag.
3 -
It adds a level of depth to trap placement. Youre either placing a trap to throw off camera during chase, or to catch up during chase, or to get a hit in chase. Without it hag would be kind of lame in a lot of situations
7 -
If you could ignore the traps as you ran by, they would be half as effective as they are now.
It kind of simulates the Survivor's attention snapping to the fake hag as she appears, and it also messes with the camera, so it can help in chases.
But here we go; claiming a power gives 'free hits'. If she chases you towards a trap; she kind of deserves that hit, so it's not 'free'. It's 'planning ahead'.
I don't get this mentality of '<x> power gives free hits!'. If the Killer used their power, and hit you, what part of it is 'free?'. They clearly used their power to good enough effect to hit you. 🤷♀️
12 -
It’s definitely outdated imo but if you know where the trap is in chase it won’t effect you
0 -
Why is it outdated? What made it outdated? What does it better? What could it be replaced with?
And no, simply nerfing Hag by removing it does not count as replacing it. Saying it's 'outdated' means the game has out-grown its use. Not that it needs nerfing.
5 -
Hag is fine without it and all it does is frustrate people.
It’s outdated because the mechanic was intended as a “jump scare” but since DBD is barely a horror game anymore I’d say it’s safe to assume it’s not needed
Better question how much worse would Hag actually be if it was gone? Most hags have teleport bound to mouse wheel so will immediately hit you anyway
0 -
I disagree. The only people 'frustrated' are those claiming it 'gives a free hit'. IE: People unhappy they got hit by a Killer's power at all. That argument could be used for literally every power in the game.
And it was not only meant as a jumpscare. The interface screw is to help the hag in a chase. Remove it, and suddenly you get a 'boo' that does nothing; a waste of a triggered trap.
6 -
Her traps give her a free hit in 90% of circumstances when triggered. She doesn’t need it
Anyway you didn’t answer the question. How much worse would she be if it were removed?
0 -
how exactly is it outdated? It spooks the survivor, which may or may not screw you over. It does exactly what it was designed to do.
6 -
Fake statistic. Plus, I just said it's SUPPOSED to help her if a trap is triggered in a chase.
And that was also the answer to your question; it would cut her trap's effectiveness by half. Survivors would just trigger traps and keep running. This would remove their use via chasing Survivors towards traps, and even allow them to get further away before a Hag teleports.
6 -
Hag is a slow killer and can be counter easy by good survivors so she needs these things to have a chance.
0 -
So let’s say a survivor triggers a trap. Even if the camera doesn’t move hag can get the hit so long as she’s fast on the button. This camera snap has no effect other than to give newer hags more time to teleport and to ######### over survivors very occasionally.
Hag is already an S/A tier killer so a small nerf like this really wouldn’t change that
0 -
it doesnt spook anyone though.
well, anyone who is not new to the game that is.
for a good 95% of people, the sudden camera pull is just annoying and it really messes with peoples pathing.
and honestly, its not like Hag needed that. IMO it should be removed and maybe added as an alternative effect to her Rusty Shackles Add On.

I'm talking more about chases. If the camera snap did not happen, then traps triggering in a chase, barring those in a choke point (Like Trapper traps) would be wasted. Survivors would ignore them and keep running.
Just because you don't like it, does not mean it's outdated or needs nerfing.
5 -
But hag still gets the hit so I’m struggling to see how they are wasted
0 -
If they don't camera snap, Hag has to chase longer, because Survivors are not interface screwed.
All you're seeing is the end result; Survivor hit. You're not seeing the 60 second chase turned into a 30-40 second chase. In a match where every second counts.
4 -
It startles srvivors and messes with their pathing...
Working as intended, duh?
3 -
But as survivor, pathing is the key to actually surviving. Running towards a window just for a trap beside you to turn you around and make you start running towards the killer doesn't feel fun or interactive on the survivor side.
0 -
That's the idea. You place hag traps well and you'll disrupt survivors.
2 -
So you don't like it because Survivors can't promptly counter it? Why does everything need an 'interaction' from Survivors or it's 'unfair'?
4 -
I feel that hag traps are WAY too indulgent. They get too many, imho.
Same with the Jokester's knives. I hate these two killers the most at the moment.
0 -
There is a way to evade camera snap, but sure, let's complain instead of learning killer powers.
1 -
Even if the trap doesn't spook you, it still spooks the survivor you're controlling.
0 -
Doesn't feel like 10 is too much. She doesn't get to place traps everywhere she goes, she has to move at 110 and take time to set traps where she thinks survivors will run through. A lot of them never get triggered at all. Why do you think she has too many and what do you suggest it should be reduced to?
0 -
Okay, tell me the way to evade the camera snap then, I'm more than happy to learn how to play against killer powers. You probably shouldn't assume I'm not willing to, but I haven't encountered whatever method you're talking about in 4 years of playing the game.
1 -
Look at the trap before you trigger it, then your camera won't be forced to rotate.
2 -
Because if it didn't do that, you wouldn't get slowed so even if she did instantly tp she still would need to run for a few seconds to catch up to you which is stupid. Survivors can already do that as long as they activate the trap at the very edge and already started running, and it's not very fair for the killer if you ask me. She basically gets cheated out of the 1 good thing her power does.
3 -
and it can do that.
but it shouldnt turn my camera around for it to happen.
the Survivors scream when one pops up, thats enough to visualize it scares them.
0 -
Classic killer main, would love to see you play survivor against a hag and you might realize why it’s so damn annoying
0 -
Classing Survivor main; screaming that any resistance to an unneeded nerf is bias. The problem is, Survivors scream for EVERY power to be nerfed, at one point or another. Usually without merit. Like here.
Sorry; Hag is fine. Her power does not need a nerf. Learn to play around it.
5 -
Oh I know how to play around it, just telling you that it’s bs that when you activate a trap you are forced to look at it.
Have you EVER played survivor?
0 -
Yes, I have. Frequently. Stop acting like this is some clear-cut case of an OP perk, because it's not.
Hag is fine.
4 -
It’s meant to disorient or mess with your bearings, hence it serves a purpose. The jumpscare is just icing on the cake. How does that make it outdated?
The mental gymnastics some people go to just to warrant a nerf 😒
4 -
Hag is not fine.
0 -
The whole "X power gave free hits" is part of the narcissism a lot of people sadly have:
Instead of looking at the bad situation and thinking what they could have done better.
They think that they did nothing wrong and its the other player or their character who wronged them.
Aka everyone who says that thinks they are perfect and did nothing wrong when usually its their own mistakes(Or against set up characters being too lazy to disarm them) that costed them.
2 -
The only thing I don't like about the hags traps are that the activation radius is so big.
I've activated a trap a few inches away from the other side of a gen before. I was nowhere near touching it.
0 -
The Hag does have trap detection range add-ons which can make her trap trigger range ridiculous(I think at max its roughly the same size as freddy's snares).
However most hags don't run those as they are actually detrimental to the hag because it makes it much easier for survivors to get away from the teleport hit's range.
0 -
Those Add-ons do make the camera pull tactics much more effective however, so some hags adjust their trap placements on purpose to force survivors away into a path they don't wanna go.
2 -
The camera pull is a pretty important part of Hags kit.She would lose quite a bit of power and lower her skill ceiling a LOT if you would remove it.
Yes it's annoying and frustrating on the survivors side but you could say that just about every other killer power in some way
