It’s incredibly frustrating accidentally killing the Obsession and losing Furtive Chase stacks.
Think what you will of Furtive Chase. This discussion isn’t about whether you think it’s a good perk or a bad perk.
I just want the stupid condition gone whereby the perk deactivated once the Obsession is dead because it’s so easy to accidentally kill the Obsession when it becomes difficult remembering whether the current Obsession is on death hook or not with all the Obsession switching.

Can't relate to this one chief,
As Furtive Chase is a trash-tier perk.

It has it's uses in niche builds, although the obsession dying removing all stacks is a ridiculous downside for a perk with a not amazingly-strong effect
5 -
I agree that furtive chase should be buffed but why are you using furtive chase lol
6 -
Because Furtive chase + Rancor is delicious
2 -
It should be like Dying Light where the Perk just deactivates but keeps the Tokens.

I think you’re getting confused with STBFL. Dying Light deactivates upon the Obsession dying.
Or do you mean if the perk reactivates from DS or Nemesis?
0 -
Reactivating. Dying Light deactivates but keeps the Tokens. If a new Obsession is created, Dying Light reactivates with the Tokens it had before it deactivated.
Furtive should work like that as well but instead it deactivated AND loses it's Tokens.

I do kinda like the way it allows a bit of bait n switch mid chase at 4 tokens. It’s kinda like a reverse M&A. If someone is a bit of a pain to down, I can sometimes get the drop on someone else mid chase that isn’t expecting me to be as close as I am.
Is it amazing? No. Does it offer a different way to play when I’m bored? Yes.

I mean, as a survivor, I get an indicator when you're chasing the obsession. You don't see the wiggly entity legs?

How do you accidentaly kill someone when the game tells you in multiple ways that you're chasing or you downed the obsession?

To be honest I'd prefer that Furtive Chase have another effect when the Obsession dies to where your tokens being consumed is actually impactful. Then again the perk is so niche I'm impressed if you actually get use out of it. To me it would be more beneficial to just run Monitor & Abuse for getting closer to start a chase or even Beast of Prey to throw people off at long tiles or to make breaking chase easier.
As for the obsession dying hurting me - Can't really relate to that problem - A dead survivor is a dead survivor.

But then what about Save the Best for Last ? I actually have no idea if after you kill the obsession and that you gain one (by getting DSed gof example) does the perk activate again ?

I understand what you mean as ive been there too. When it happens i remember it wasnt doing much for me anyway
0 -
It will reactivate but youve lost your stacks (on furtive chase, not stbfl). Im going off memories from long ago so could be wrong but pretty sure
0 -
Yeah I can see that being an issue with all the obsession changing that happens. No point keeping that downside imo but either way it will be trash tier

Because the perk switches Obsession, and sometimes I’m thinking “oh, I don’t have 4 tokens yet” and I only hooked that particular survivor once but forgot that they went to struggle phase.

This is more a reason to give killers individual survivor hook counters.
Tunnellers will tunnel regardless, but hiding this info leads to accidental tunnelling.

The stacks may as well do nothing anyway

Pair that with Nemesis for the dreaded Rancor Roulette build!
0 -
Because every time there's an unhook, the Obsession changes hands.
Kinda hard to keep track of how many hooks Survivors have sometimes.

Ah yes, the one killer perk which I never bothered to unlock.
However, judging by its effect, killing the obsession by accident must be very annoying.

Furtive Chase + Rancor is one of my favorite Meme perk combinations. Furtive Chase + Nemesis is also a lot of fun.

You should name that last one Oprah-session cus you handing down the obsession status left and right. :D

Here's how I think Furtive Chase should be buffed.
While chased the survivor does not hear the chase music. The stacks for getting furtive chase go from 4 meters per stack to 8 meters per stack. Killing the obsession does not remove all stacks.
This would allow for a 32 meter terror radius reduction with max stacks and the survivor that you're chasing would not get music notification that they're in a chase. The survivor would hear the terror radius, until the chase begins.

If you're playing with that perk it's up to you to keep track of hooks stages and such. When i did ew3 and all adept it wasnt that hard to keep track of such things unless there were 4 survivors with the exact same skin

Proposed change: the killer can always see how many times the Obsession has been hooked. It's in line with the concept of Obsession (the killer is obsessing over that survivor, so they keep track of what happens to them) and serves as a minor QoL change for Obsession builds.

Blah blah blah. None of Myers perks or add ons have Obsession switching.
0 -
Ok

Or they should just give the damn information to the killers
There is zero reason why we should be able to look with a glance who is on dead hook or not
2 -
Exactly.
People worry about tunnelers abusing it, but tunnelers don't give a damn who is on death hook, they're gonna just tunnel you through DS and BT anyway.
There is literally no downside to doing it, since it allows Killers who AREN'T tunnel-happy to actually plan out a 12-hook.

Since nobody made a suggestion, I went ahead and took the liberty to suggest what I think would be the perfect change: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/264827/qol-change-for-obsession-builds-hook-state-for-the-obsession-is-shown-to-the-killer#latest
