Is Oni a rare killer to VS?

Because I don't remember last time I play againts him :-(

It's a bit shocking why he is maybe not that popular since his power is rly good and overall fun to use.

I ran into a few playing as survivor. Mostly him and Trickster. I am very low ranked as a survivor though, so my experience is probably really different than the norm.

I'm very surprised that there aren't more Oni players, come to think of it, since he's one of the few killers that both sides seem to enjoy and consider fairly balanced.

He's a very(If not the most) feast or famine killer who loses horrible to making as much distance as possible early and pre throwing pallets to possibly deny him his power for 3+ gens.

Also spread out spawns are more or less an auto lose for the Oni as he can't pressure them and is so reliant on infectious fright he's the only killer who gets another killer's perk from an add-on.

So high rank meta just kinda dumpsters the Oni and he needs survivors spawning grouped to stand a chance.

I picked him recently as my only main since it seems he is rather rare and in most of the "fun to vs" and so on ratings he is rather high positioned.

Also he is one of the normal 115 m1 killer where their power only enhances the gameplay for the killer.

Yeah Oni is pretty rare to see for me.

Old player know what happen to a balance killer they get nerf most of the time.

Honestly the reason we dont see him more often is because he is a snowball killer with a bad early game. So if you fail your first power you lose the game 100% sure unless you face potato. At that point its better for the oni player to play something less punishing

I play him about 5 times a day or so at r1. he's super add-on reliant. he relies on having top knot+akimbo crutch/Lion fang to be successful(otherwise everyone can easily dead angle his dash). You probably do not face him very often because he has a really trash base-kit in my opinion and he also has pretty impressively high skill-cap to using his power, even to this day I still mess up a demon strike or two despite playing him for really long time. Maybe if his base-kit was better, you'd see him more. he's just really punishing to play if you mess up.

I face about 1 or 2 per year, its mad given how fun and strong he can be. I main him as killer and he's kinda broken atm on console so I'm not using him until they fix it.

There are various reasons as to why he's barely played.

Oni has some of the weakest early game in the roster and since he starts as a pure M1 killer, it can be pretty frustrating playing against good survivors who play safe and don't feed you easily. His power is very reliant on using Infectious Fright to slug and on some maps it can be more difficult than others.

Oni and Blight are based on Hillbilly, and most people who liked playing him before the nerf switched to Bubba, Blight, Spirit who are all killers who don't have these kind of annoyances that Oni has.

Also, all of his perks suck so people have no secondary reason to buy him.

I hardly ever see him. Maybe it’s because he’s hard to use for console killers?

I would just say hard to use in general as a single mistake with his power can cost you a LOT of distance.

This is along with TL walls being surpringly strong against Oni due to his lack of a normal lunge while empowered can force him to drop chase if someone reaches one..

Also his camera makes it a nightmare to keep track of anyone without dedicated perks. Even when its not bugging out and throwing your camera in a random direction on nearly every empowered hit.

For me Myers, Trickster, Clown, Demo are so rare. But every damn day i am facing with Huntress, Spirit, Doctor

    he's super add-on reliant.

he relies on having top knot+akimbo crutch/Lion fang to be successful

    Lol what?

He really doesn't,against a decent team yes.

But not in your average public lobby. His base-kit fine aswell.

The reason why you don't see him too often is because he needs a lot of mechanical skill and good decision making + game knowledge to use him well.

    He's fine on console.

I mained him since his release and the only thing that was a problem on console was his restricted turn on his lunge out of demon sprint but that was quickly fixed

In my region, I get a lot of Oni's.

I rarely see something else than Nemesis and Bubba since the start of the event.

I miss the other Killers. I think last time I've met Oni, it was at least a week ago—and I play every day.

I see him every now and again. Rare I go a week and not see an Oni a couple of times at least.

I think it must be a regional thing with some killers.

He can be fun and strong, but I honestly just don't enjoy slug heavy playstyles that much. Looking for slugs is annoying on its own, and I hate having to dedicate a perk slot to Deerstalker to combat the silent slug bug that's still around.

Oni is somewhat rare especially since blight got his camera change and has become the basic Mobility killer most play

I used to main Oni and i love him, but playing him is so stressful for me cus doing flicks is some loops are frustating, it feels so bad when you use your power and cant down a single soul and its a lot overwhelming running all the map to pop that generator on the corner bcs your tinkerer popped, and you need to use your pop on it before its powered up by survivors and idk.

I know how to play him, im not bad overall when i play him, im just saying his gameplay gives me so much anxiety that makes me afraid to play him again.

I love onis power and very strong with infectious and demon dash. However his early game is by far the weakest. He is purely M1 and rely on getting that 1st hit. If you struggle getting that 1st hit you're gonna be in a bad spot. Hes also very add on reliant which is never good for a killer tbh.

I freaking love running Oni. Especially with some perks that help you keep the survivors at the curb afraid and grouped up. Something like Discordance, Deathbound, Forced Penance, and maybe Caulrophobia.

Oooo now that I think about it, maybe replace Caulrophobia with Nemesis' Hysteria perk. Could do wonders with Oni.

For someone that has never used him he is quite daunting.

His attacks are magnetized to walls and will end abruptly if you get to close or just suck you into them when attempting to hit around corners.

New players don't use the cheat to hit 180 degrees (this should be patched anyway) as most of the oni players i verse do...

he is weaksauce if you get good loopers at the start of the match.

I think he's one of the killers that are a lot harder to use on console, so that's one reason why you don't see him as much. But who cares about console players. Buff Trickster.

He's super map dependant, he's really unfun on certain maps so I can see why people don't like playing him.
