"Prestige benefits are a myth, it's purely cosmetic the developers said so" claim?
So, this guy on the Steam forums is INSISTING that the only reason to prestige a character is to get the bloody clothes, you do not AT ALL get any increased items in the bloodweb. He insists that the developers said this in a live stream Q&A.
Nevermind that anyone who has prestiged a character knows how much increasingly more expensive 1-50 is the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times around, proving that you are getting slightly better items, but the game itself states this is the case.
So anyone know, did the developers ever say anything of any sort that this guy is taking out of context or misinterpreting, or is he just trolling at this point?

Some people say that, and it's a valid thought. But as I said, it does cost more the 2nd and 3rd and 4th times around, and a 10% better chance if getting an ultra rare at P3 is still a 10% better chance. Like, say you have a 30% chance to get an Ultra Rare item, well now you have a 33% chance? Yea, that's small, but it's still a higher chance. So saying there is NO benefit is saying that nothing has changed and 33% is a better chance than 30%, even if one thinks it's insignificant..

It's not a 10% chance though, it's literally like 1% more likely for ultra rares, which are mostly very bad items anyway (at least on killers).
Out of a 100 bloodwebs you'll get one with an extra ultra rare on them, what's the point lol.

It's negligble, as said though, so despite the numbers looking nice and big, it basically changes nothing.

It's a multiplcative increase, not an additive. It's like with money. $10 is the cost of an item, you add 10% tax, that makes the item $11. Is that a big increase in cost? Nah. But, it's still an increase.
So the question isn't whether one thinks the increased chance is worth it, but does it exist? Does an item at the store cost me $10, or does it cost $11? This is the question.

I don't understand what you're trying to argue here, a lot of people would consider a 1% increase nothing, I think you're looking at this too deeply.

Except that it obviously does as the amount of blood points one has to spend is increased the extra times 1-50. Now whether those Ultra Rare items are worth having on your particular chosen survivor or killer, well that's a matter of opinion.
Once again, I am not asking if people think 1-3% is negligible, I am asking if the percentage is 0%.

I can clear that up right now: There is an increased to get higher quality nodes in your bloodweb, but it is incredibly slight. So while they're not a myth, it's probably not worth doing just to get rarer items unless you intend to keep dumping bloodpoints into that character for a long time.

Why is it so slight, though? This is weirdly stingy. Why don't they just... I don't know, make way fewer 3000 BP items at level 1, fewer 4000 at level 2, fewer 5000 at level 3? Then prestige means you really do get more 6k and up items.

For killers you dont want it to be more often, green and yellow add ons are usually the best when youre trying to win. Purple and iri are typically for screwing around.

Well, yes but one also gets more green and yellow too. Like I said, more a thing to do on your main, not every character. Though I gotta say, the increased chance of getting "Frank's Mix Tape" really sucks considering it's still completely broken.

A couple different reasons, namely that A) you don't always want higher rarity items (e.g. your favourite add-ons are common/uncommon), and B) we don't want prestiging to feel like a mandatory thing-- it's meant to be an optional extra that you can do if you've got a ton of extra time and feel like it, not something you need to do to stay competitive.

Any news on reducing the grind? After 5700 hours I can only imagine how offputting it must be for new players to even get started on this, or at least a "we'll have more on that soon" would be nice.

I'll take that, I definitely know there's been times where you've mentioned reducing the grind and you've acted on it (4 perks on the web at level 50) which literally halved the grind to max, but it's still slightly insane, hoping for good things soon.

I see what you mean. Good thing I'm not a game designer. I guess that's why the 'improved' percentage to get better items is very small. Or maybe the ability to complete each giant blood web without actually paying for every item so I can leave behind a certain number of items that I don't want based on my prestige level... Like maybe I don't HAVE to buy brown items anymore but they are present as an option.
What about cheaper BP prices per item or something? People are definitely looking for something for prestiging. The bloody outfit thing feels like a relic from before so many outfits were available.

I started playing 2 weeks ago and 90% of my killers are lvl50 p1, I don't think the grind is nearly that bad, though on PC I owned the legacy prestige skin they gave to everyone with p3 after they cut the time in half so maybe I'm biased.
The fact my killers with zero meta perks in the begining was being matched against rank 5 full meta perked survivors was way more of an issue than the grind itself, even if they cut the grind in half again I don't think it would help that problem as there's like 5+ killers to grind teachables on to be competitive. I'd take improved matchmaking over less grind any day.

Yeah but you know what youre doing. Noobies dont so grind takes way longer for them. Think about the brand new survivor pulling in 8k per match for the first hundred hours and what the grind looks like to them

In fairness if we are talking survivor they do earn a lot less BP, though also have less teachables they need to get, I mean just a meghead alone can be very competitive. I'd personally like to survivors who get tunneled or prevented from earning good BP, especially at low ranks which is a face camping hell hole, reward the victim much better than the current system, hell I'd even throw in a safety pip.
We need to do away with BP caps in a match and have better payouts for survivors who are forced into not earning, I think that would do a lot more good for the game than just cutting the bloodweb.

As someone who deliberately p3'd a single main and has pumped about the same number of BP into a p1 and 2 p0's for about a year, all of them survivors, I have more overall items and add-ons, and by extension more rare ones, on the p0's and the p1.
The BP that a P3 requires really isn't worth the investment unless you're planning on playing that character for a few thousand hours a year over multiple years.

I feel like Prestige is a big scam. 4.5 M BP per character flushed down the toilet. It's a system that might have made sense at one time, but makes no sense now.

Ive got all killers at p350 except trickster. I dont feel scammed. I needed to do something with the bps. The scam is dumping bps into a killer for months THEN prestiging them. Its not for everyone, if i played a lot less i probably woukdnt have done it

I wouldn’t want that at all! Until prestige 3 its a waste to spend so many blood points. I try to buy the cheapest items only and this would make prestiging even more costly

You're currently playing the game at a time where you can earn up over 500% extra bp per match bro, of course your levelling experience is different.

This person did hundreds of bloodwebs and found single percentage differences between no prestige and P3. Also search for McLean and you'll see him in the comments confirming players aren't going to notice better bloodwebs.

If you like cheap throw away medkits then never prestige because these items show up less never mind that they are the most useful and best buy of everything that is on offer.
My Dwight Meg Claudette and Jake will never be prestiged for this reason.

The 5 odd I needed to get the perks yes, that's not as impressive as you think it is, I bought a bunch more for the event, Oni and shape are the only two I don't own and everyone's at 50 now, 2 weeks was a miss speak though I think 3 1/2 weeks is fairer.

"90% of killers" could have easily been "90% of the killer I own", saying 90% is incredibly diceptive instead of saying "4 out of 5 killers i have are level P1, Level 50" lmao. 90% of 5, give me a break.
Console owns more characters than PC when they buy the game so yea when people don't specifically say how many killers they own, I assume, and then you specifically stated theres only TWO killers you don't own now so had I asked how many killers you'd owned you'd have said all but two anyway lmao.
